I looked up a Hilton hotel and GetARoom had a mirrored hotel site. I thought that I was booking direct with Hilton when I called the number and didn't realize I wasn't talking to Hilton until it was too late. They added a $50 surcharge to the $113 room that I booked. It was a good lesson for me in the future to pay attention to the fine print.
I booked a one night stay at the Hyatt Place Chicago-South/University Medical Center two weeks out for my son's surgery date. The booking process was fairly straightforward - I've used other booking sites before, and nothing odd stood out. I submitted my credit card information and the transaction went through (no prompts or specific messages about the booking or cancellation information appeared). Today, I had to cancel the booking as my son's surgery date changed. I went to my confirmation to cancel the reservation and immediately received a prompt alerting me that the FULL amount: $184 (room charge, taxes, and surcharges) would be charged to my credit card. Today is TWO weeks out from the date of the reservation. I feel angry and duped. This is an unscrupulous third party booking system.
Update: Upon submitting my review on Sitejabber ( a site I greatly appreciate for informing the public), I received an immediate call and email from a customer service representative who told me they would issue a full refund. I remain committed that the Getaroom website is not as transparent as they claim it to be and I would encourage anyone using this website to read all of the small print before booking. That said, I very much appreciate this business doing the right thing and honoring a full refund to me since I was a first time user.

I booked a reservation by phone for 2 nights for 3 people. Upon receipt of confirmation, the reservation is set for 1 night and 2 adults. I called to fix the error but the reservation is not non-refundable and they are not willing to change it. This is not what we agreed upon on the call. They say they record conversations but they won't listen to the recording. They cannot offer a resolution. The only resolution is to cancel and they will give me $57 dollars back on a $537.51 room. What a scam. Call me before booking *******404.

I thought i was dealing with the hotel directly. Was told my confirmation says 2 queen beds but dont worry the king bed requested would be what we got. We got 2 queen. Then I was told we would get the military discount at arrival at the hotel. This was not true. That is when i was made aware of booking though an outside venue.

Was blindsided with the service charges that are the same cost as one night stay. I tried calling customer service, it was brutal and got hung up on every time. Luckily enough I subscribe to a direct number service for my everyday job and I got the direct line for someone. I would not have been able to make contact if I did not subscribe to a direct number service. Very salty taste in my mouth, I would recommend to not use getaroom.

We arrived 1hr after reservations allowed our room was given away. Red Cross had the hotel full u could see that 1/2 of the people were homeless taking advantage of free food the noise all night long was loud we paid $80 a day for room service that we never received the quote said one thing the price was a lot more way too much. U could smell smoke in room from cigarettes which made my friends eyes red it was a non smoking room. Instead of 2 queen beds we got one king bed our number from the reservation site was no. R*******564 the worst experience ever. I will never refer anyone to this super 8 again & will mention it to e everyone unless I get some sort of compensation it was a total rip-off

Booked a room for a friend on my card, was told repeatedly by getaroom that no card was required to check-in, just a name and reference number, not the case, my friend could not check in as they did not have a credit card so they had to go somewhere else, tried to get a refund from getaroom and they refused. Actually, they would not even connect me to a manager-"none available", complete nonsense. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
After posting this review, the company contacted me and resolved my issue very professionally and quickly. Very good follow-up and customer service.

I had an issue with the hotel price and after contacting GetARoom, their customer service department was able to resolve it. I am in the process of receiving a full refund and do appreciate their efforts on my behalf.

They act like the hotel and give you the price. Then you receive your bill with $134.30 extra charge for fees. I was lied to when they told me my total was $336.82 and when I received the confirmation email I was charged $471.12.

They will tell you anything to finalize a booking and then not follow thru with promised email verification. If you are on a short leash and booking for the same day while on the road BUYER BEWARE, they will not do anything they promise and can not find your reservation if you call within 6 - 8 hours. They are useless when it comes to same day customer service. STAY FAR AWAY

Was quoted 224 over the phone when I received credit card statement it was 324, called stated it was taxes and fees, they charged 100 dolllars in taxes and fees and lied about the quote, I asked to speak to a manager put me on hold every time for over a hour. I called back asked the operator if she could playback my conversation since they said it was recorded, no they don't have it, needless to say this is a scam, save your money use any site but this one, I thought it was legitimate since it was on the holiday inn express picture but it's not. Resolved to my satisfaction, Get a room refunded the difference very promptly,

My daughter and I booked our NY hotel stay through Getaroom, planned for November this year. However, along with the rest of the world, plans have changed. With our flights from and home to UK cancelled, we contacted Getaroom. I absolutely appreciate that we booked without cancellation, however I am unsure how I can remedy this situation, with no travel possible.
Quite aside, it took weeks and more than 1 email to receive an reply from Getaroom at all!

Good Afternoon
I have an event plan and made reservation for a couple individuals who suppose to be staying at Whydam Rockville center New York. Because of the Covid 19 the Hotel where the event was taking place close, also all individuals that was reserved with CCI Hotel.com has to cancel $1300 in reservations. CCI Hotel refuses to give us a refund stating that the reservation is not qualified for a refund. My credit card company file a complaint in an effort to retrieve the funds back, they told them the reservation is not qualify for refund. I continue to call now they are telling me that because my credit card company file a complaint I am not I cannot get back a refund. These people needs to be put out of business immediately. What they are doing is high way robbery and the hotel needs to be accountable as well.

After submitting a negative review of Getaroom on Sitejabber, I recieved a prompt call from a helpful customer service rep who told me they would issue a full refund. Within about five business days the refund appeared on my credit card. It took some doing, but this business stepped up and ultimately did the right thing.

Decide for yourself. Real numbers below:
$778 - amount quoted for 4 nights Memphis Hampton Inn
$364 - undisclosed amount added for taxes and "fees" when card was charged
$1,142 - total charged to card (hotel charges parking $21/night on top of this)
I can email you the bill if you think this is too outrageous to be true.
There is no supporting detail for taxes and fees and the amounts are not mentioned when you book. Only that you agree to pay them.
I called but they wouldn't cancel. Offered a small refund amount because they know they are guilty and I was angry. Haven't seen the refund. If you like the feeling of being cheated and overpaying you have found the right company.

The person who took my call had a thick accent, I simply could not understand. I asked to speak directly to the hotel and she would not put me through. I asked three times. She did however get me about 50$ off the advertised price of the room.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
