I didn't realize I was booking through a third party website until I called customer service three minutes after making the reservation for the wrong dates. I was told by a young man named Murphy that modifications or cancellations couldn't be made because it was prepaid. After calling the hotel and informed they couldn't do anything about it, I called customer service again, this time speaking to a woman named Murphy and was told the same thing. Looks like I'll be disputing it with my credit card company.

My husband was looking online for rooms at a Hilton property. Since he had typed in Hilton into the address bar he thought he was at a Hilton website, but he was at Getaroom. He reserved two rooms.
When we checked out of Hilton they charged for our stay in the grand total of $498.36 per room for all 3 nights including taxes/fees. Getaroom had charged us $710.28 per room for 3 nights with taxes/fees. Hilton reversed our charges since we paid through Getaroom.
I don't mind places getting paid for their services but almost a 50% service fee for booking through Getaroom is outrageous.

I booked a room in March at a discounted price and paid in advance. I was to stay at quality inn in August. I called quality inn in August to make sure I had a paid room and no one answered. I took a look at their website and it said closed indefinitely. So I called hotel@ get a room and asked for another room somewhere else.
After a 2 hour wait on the phone they booked me another room called the inn of Santa Fe and on the same Avenue.
So, 3 days before I get to Santa Fe I called the inn of Santa Fe and they said no reservations in my name. So I get to Santa Fe and go to the hotel inn of Santa Fe (formally quality inn) on Carlisle avenue. They said the third party should have let you know we have a new owner and we can't accept the paid reservations but we have a room available for $150.99 (no rooms because of Indian market & all overpriced and booked) Call the third party and see if they will refund your money because they should have called all their customers & let them know that we are under new owners.
So, I get back to Gallup and call get a room requesting a refund after another 2 hour hold.
The told me no because they did not pay the inn of Santa Fe until the day of and I should have called them immediately when I got there. They told me also that I was at the wrong hotel the one I should have stayed at was the Inn of Santa Fe on 8376 Cerrillos road and the one I stayed at was the Hotel inn of Santa Fe on ******* Cerrillos road. I will never use *******@Get A Room Again!

I received a confirmation fromGAR for my hotel in France. I had a funny feeling to trust them so I called the hotel and found there was no reservation. I called Get a Room and they called the hotel and told me the hotel doesn't take 3rd party reservations. So? I guess I would have tried to check into my hotel, in France, and found out then that I had no reservation? And then contacted GAR and have them tell me "sorry for the inconvenience?" I don't get it!

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
