I had like to get help on the direction as to how to reach the property from the Cebu Airport. Also I need to confirm with the property that they have received my booking. However the number which I get from the internet (*******037 and *******2171) are not able to confirm my bookings with them. I am getting anxious!

Problems

Get A Room handle my poor experience promptly by issuing me a 25% credit for the problems with my reservation. Thank-you.

People handling the bookings were good and helpful but:
1) Both calls had a lot of background noise - like the were in a big room with lots of people doing phone work on headsets.
2)When checked in hotel had no record of my booking through Get A Room or that payment have already been made to you.
3) Could have booked the room for $70 cheaper if I had gone directly to hotel.

Don't trust this booking agent

They took more money than they should have and when the question was asked as to why, they gave a generic answer and then refused to reply yo any other correspondence. Don't trust them and I would not recommend them and I will never use their website again when booking for accommodation.

Mostly a good experience

My booking went very smoothly except for one confusing thing. I got a second confirmation but showing US currency. As the booking was made in Australia. I didn't understand what this meant. Overall as I said everything else was carried out excellently

Excellent response to feedback

True test of an organisation's customer service is how they respond to a concern. In this respect GetARoom have been excellent and my query was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Good price for the room as well

They make you feel you are booking with the hotel directly, that you have the best deal... but they don't mention their fee: $116 on top of the hotel rate of $263. If we had booked with the hotel like we intended to, the rate would have been $263 taxes and fees included.

[update 08/31/2018]: couple of days after my post, I have received an email from a customer service representative.
Here after is the explanation given regarding the 'service fee':
"... To help clarify, this charge includes the estimated amount we pay to the hotel in connection with your reservation for taxes owed by the hotel including, but not limited to sales and use tax, occupancy tax, room tax, excise tax, value added tax and/or other similar taxes. In certain locations, the tax amount may also include government imposed service fees or other fees not paid directly to the taxing authorities but required by law to be collected by the hotel. The amount paid to the hotel in connection with your reservation for taxes may vary from the amount we estimate and include in the charge to you. The balance of the charge for Taxes and Fees is a fee we retain as part of the compensation for our services and to cover the costs of your reservation."

Still pretty obscure knowing the service fee was 30% of the total.
On a more positive note, they agreed to refund me the service fee (I haven't received the refund yet - but those things can take couple of days).

Bottom line, I really appreciate the refund but I am still doubting the integrity of this company since they made us feel on the phone we were booking with the hotel directly.

The listing was for the property "Hodnett Cooper St Simons Grand - 3 Bedroom", and all of the photos on the website depicted that property. However, after I had booked the reservation I called the property management company to ask about our upcoming reservation, and they informed me that we had actually reserved a unit at the neighboring property, the Beach Club. This is a blatant error in the listing - the room I reserved (a 2 bedroom condo) isn't even available as an option at the Grand.
UPDATE: The customer service department reached out to me in order to apologize for this error, and they were committed to resolving the issue. They weren't able to switch my reservation to the Grand since it had since been fully booked for my dates, but they gave me a discount on the reservation.

This is a Rip Off

If you use this service, you better triple check the entire form before you submit it. I will never use this service again. And I highly recommend going through someone else unless you want to throw away your money.

Unhappy traveler

Booked a room 6 weeks ahead of travel. The fee displayed was competitive with other sites so went ahead and booked. Then the fees were added in and price was almost 150% of advertised price. Dumb me booked anyway. Two weeks later the price on the room dropped 30 dollars a night. I called and they said the price match was only for the first 24 hours. The price on their own website was down but they couldn't match the price! Wish I had read some of the reviews on here and would have gone with a different company.

Memphis trip

Recently my party of four decided to make a trip to Memphis and inquired at "the guest house at Graceland" for 2nights. It was an easy book with the costs being reasonable and the experience easy. As it turned out We had to cancel because of on in our party has cancer. The cancellation process turned out just as east.

Be aware that even though the room rates they quote on this site may sound great, they tack on a ridiculous amount of fees. I never got an emailed confirmation from the site until I filed this complaint, and then they sent it to me. That's when I saw the line labeled Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees. The total of those charges was an additional 38% above the total for the room alone. In other words, if you exclude a bit for taxes, their Service Fees were an additional 30-35% over the price of the room charge. At that point it's not a bargain at all. And it was a huge hassle just getting to their customer service department: menu options that simply hang up on you; and when I finally got to a human (only by choosing the option for making a new reservation), when they transferred me to customer service I got hung up on another 2 times. I will never use this site again.

OMG!

I, too, thought I was calling the hotel directly. While booking, I noticed that Priceline had the exact same hotel at about half the price that Get a Room was quoting. When I questioned the 'agent', he said that he already booked it, it was non-refundable, and he could not change the reservation. He also didn't believe me that I was seeing the same room, same dates, for far cheaper. Now, checking this website, I see that this company seems to be a giant scam. Wow. Sure hope that the amount that shows up on my credit card is the same price quoted! So sad that so many people have had such a negative experience!
