Rented a car from this company in Costa Rica.was forced to pay for car insurance despite the fact that both my husband and I were insured independently and we were covered by our credit card company as well (all supporting paperwork provided to the clerk at the time of rental). We were told that we could not rent the car unless we took their insurance or our policies specifically stated that we had covered in Costa Rica (country had to be mentioned by name) and coverage for over $1 million dollars. Turns out the car rental company buys their insurance from the government for $2 per day to the INS for the government mandated SLI and then turns around and changes 15-35 per day to it's customers. We had been advised by a local tour guide that other companies will indeed waive this and it is not mandatory at all. When I asked why I was not given the option to sign the waiver declining I was told it was not an option. We had also been told that in Costa Rica this is considered a deposit and we should get our money back- this was refused by Economy car rental.
I had an absolutely terrible experience with Green Motion car rental. The car I rented was dirty. The customer service representative who helped me was rude and unhelpful, and seemed annoyed that I was even asking questions. The sign of tire problems was on, and they did not care about it. When I insisted, they took the car and inflated the tire, but the sign was back on the next day. Fortunately, I did not have any problems with this, but it was clear that the car had not been properly maintained. The customer service I received was equally disappointing. When I raised my concerns about the condition of the car, I was met with indifference and a complete lack of concern for my safety When I returned the car, I was charged extra fees for highway tolls (even if Google maps was set to avoid highways), and I think this was a big lie. Overall, I would not recommend this car rental company to anyone and would advise people to look elsewhere for their rental needs, since it was clear that they had no interest in ensuring my satisfaction as a customer.

Giving Economy Car Rental 01 is giving them credit. If I could I would give them minus 1 million they don't even deserve that in fact they deserve to be removed from the planet. I made the biggest mistake renting a car through this company. I was unaware of the line Ontario about not being able to use another credit card when the driver doesn't have one. Coming from Alberta this is allowed and I book the car with my credit card the company knew straight out that I was using my card and they allowed me to book it. So we come to Toronto we're at our airport at the car place and we're trying to get our car. In front of us are seven people all fighting to get their money back because they have been ripped off in various Ways by economy rent a car. When we got up they looked at some said no we are not going to allow this the driver does not have a credit card. I told them I wanted my money back because they already charged my credit card over $400. They told me they weren't going to give me my money back and I had to take it up somewhere else. So I am taking it somewhere else. I say class action suit against this company again let's get as many people across Canada as we can to kick this company to the curb and close their $#*! down. I know that many people have lost their money through this company and it is horrible that they have been allowed to do this. I am reporting them to Transport Canada the Better Business Bureau and any other place I can find. I am closing down Economy Car Rental they have dealt with the Devil.

I decided to cancel my booking due to reviewing the fine print on my voucher; I sent emails that confirmed my worries and read reviews. I now wish I had read reviews before I booked with this company.
I got a generic email saying my refund was processed on 24 February 23. I called the bank, as Economy Car Rentals said an international refund could take up to 30 days. That is not the case; the bank clarified today that it will always be notified that a refund has been raised. Regardless of what country, international transfers would take seven working days to clear into an account.
I have asked in numerous emails to get proof of a processed refund (EFT remittance), not a generic email. And my emails have been ignored.
The terms stated on the website are free cancellation if done before 48 hours. This was done four months before my holiday— terms to do state that I must wait 30 days for my refund.
This has caused me enormous stress as I am being ignored and worried I will not get my money back.
Please do not book with this company.

Worst experience ever! Booking with economycarrental.com (ECR) was full of bad surprises and their customer service is appalling.
The booking itself includes HIDDEN COSTS: a) Their theft Damage Excess Protection and Cancel Protection Service, are not refundable or deducted from the outstanding balance paid locally at pick up. You need to cancel it before the booking starts, or you will find yourself paying it twice (also to the local company you hire from since ECR is only an intermediate), b) what they call a "down payment" and pretends to be a deposit at first turns out to be also non-refundable payment for the car hire mediation (in my case about $400).
Book with ECR if prepared to lose over $500 unless, of course, you are the type who read the fine print. The company is a total scam, which was confirmed by the way they deal with the complaint later. An invoice for their services was never issued. Not even 2 months after the booking. I wonder why...

An amount is charge during the booking procedure and the balance is always payable at the rental desk as stated during the booking procedure at the final step in the price breakdown.
This also is indicated on the online receipt that was received upon the confirmation of a reservation.

Scammers! This is NOT Economy Rental Car. These guys rent nothing but appear to be a car rental agency. Report them to your credit card provider and block them from doing business.

Please do not book with this low budget, unprofessional company.
I booked a rental with them through Hotwire and my bank contacted me right away informed my of fraudulent activity on my card. So I contacted Economy right away and they told me they would refund me the amount and send me an email.
The customer agent Javiera Escobar made a spelling mistake on my email, instead of spelling Hotmail she spelled hotmil. Make no sense. When I called her she rudely told me to send an email and hung up the phone.
Honestly the worst customer service I've encountered, no professionalism or respect.
They took $358 from me and no update on when I will be getting it.

This company uses a scam to bail you book your car rental with them. Usually the rental rate is very attractive and you would not resist the temptation. As soon as you arrive at the airport, you would wait for their free shuttle to take you to off airport for your "reserved vehicle". You would then discover that what you had booked did not exist. They would offer you an alternative either a lower class vehicle for your reserved rate or more expensive vehicle. After you have spent a couple hours on this and you know that your options are very limited, you have to take their offer.
I reserved a midsize automatic transmission SUV (category: SMAS, 4 days including 2nd driver and GPS for US$180) at Lisbon airport on 11/18/2022 and tried to pick up at the airport on 12/8. The shuttle took us to Okmobility off airport, where we discovered that there was no automatic transmission vehicle at this site. The options were either take a stick shift vehicle or a very small one (Toyota Yaris) automatic for the same price. We ended up renting a vehicle from Guerin for €385 at the airport. If you happen to book a car at Lisbon airport, please directly book from Guerin, which is the largest rental car company affiliated to National, Enterprise, Budget.
Announcement: I have received no incentive from Guerin and I'm not promoting it. But my advice is to reserve your rental car from a bigger company.
Also EconomyCarRentals would charge you a non-refundable fee (I was charged $48). Any change of your reservation, you have to be charged another non-refundable again. When you see a rental car offer too good, it's fishy. I really don't want to see your vacation ruined by a poor car rental company.
If I have an option to select 0 star, I would definitely rate 0.
They don't tell you that after two hours past your pick up time your car is given away and they label you as a "no show". So basically you get screwed for your whole vacation that you booked for a week in a place you aren't familiar with in some cases. I don't recommend at all.

Each car rental company has different policy regarding the delay of the customer.
If the customer does not show up in time or does not call the car rental company to let them know about the delay, they have the right to cancel the reservation.
In the confirmation voucher is stated the following: if for any reason there is deviation from the pick-up / return times or dates, extra charges could incur or even the desk / office be closed or the car might not be available any longer (essential to inform the car rental company in case of delays) and your booking treated as No Show.

I have used many rental brokers, but I never had a terrible experience like this. I rented a car in Elgin Scotland and after calling the local Enterprise to confirm the pick up I was told there were no cars available: this was the 1st of November 2022. At the end of December they still did not want to refund the money blaming me for not showing up at the office. And after calling Enterprise I found out they never charged me, which means Economy Car Rentals are keeping my money for no reason. Beware of them, scammers!

Poor poor service and communication. After the booking you will get nothing more from them. Especially if there is any issues. The Comprehensive full insurance is a scam and you have to wait weeks for feedback where they just pass the buck and look for a way out.
The Rental Company says deal with insurance company and economy car rentals says deal with the rental company. It's pathetic to say the least. Never using them again

I have been a loyal customer of EconomyCarRental for over 10 years. I have always rented a car with full coverage insurance and this is the first time I had to file an insurance claim for quite minor damages that I have paid in full two months ago. Customer service claim they are still "checking the case" since September, even though I provided all the relevant documentation right away. In the meantime, the money is nowhere to be seen. They also stopped answering my emails for the past week.

I'm a client for years. Last time in August I rented a car in Munich. Firstly I got a smoky car then I got a dirty one. They did nothing. While driving the autobahn I was hit by a small stone on the windshield. They refused to cover the damage although I purchased a full insurance package. Don't buy the full insurance from them! Pay the full package at the desk. But then the price would be very expensive.

This experience was the worst. There was an infestation of baby spiders all over outside and inside the car. We had to jumpstart the car to get it to work. We also didn't even get the car that we originally wanted and it wasn't anything close or comparable either. We tried to get a new car but they said they do not have a manager or boss of the company also the person that we spoke to was extremely rude to us and couldn't even give us any help at all.

PASSENGER SEAT BELT WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, Car has been in a major accident, you can tell just looking at the paint job.
Just left the rental & tire lights came on.

Right in front of me at the counter a lady was really upset with charges and info, loud voice and complaining about ECONOMY and their practices.
Economy should return my money for this LEMON!
We didn't drive this LEMON very much to dangerous.
NOT WORTH THE HASSLE, LONG TIME TO GET TO RENTAL ALSO BACK TO AIRPORT.
VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE CO.

This company by far is the worst company to deal with. If they over charge you for a certain fee and try getting a refund of what is owed, good luck. They just placate you by passing you off to someone that will call you back a day or so later that say they're going to give you a refund that never happens. Round and round you go. If you have any issues with these yahooos just do a charge back!
Booked a vehicle for pickup in Greymouth, New Zealand after completing the Tranz Alpine train journey. Received a booking confirmation an E-Voucher from Economy Car Rentals (ECR) to present to their local supplier Europcar in Greymouth. At this time $120.19 was charged against our Visa card as a deposit by ECR. Presented the E-Voucher to Europcar counter to be told there was no vehicle as the one allocated had been returned damaged. Had to hire a rental from another company which was considerably more expensive. Have endeavored to get a refund of our deposit for the vehicle not provided by sending various emails but too date this has been unsuccessful. Europcar tells ECR that we declined the vehicle which is totally untrue as we weren't even offered a vehicle as a replacement. Steer clear of both Economy Car Rentals and Europcar, they cannot be trusted.
Be aware what's the true car rental provider and what's the online agency. You need to pay 20% more to the agency but get a cheap provider with cheap services.
How cheap services we got from this experience?
We waited at airport for the shuttle to the car provider the York for an hour.
It took us two hours finally get the car. We saw couple customers waited as much time as us.
The car we got was a 75,000 km damaged van with multiple visible scratches and a hole in the windshield unrepaired.
We saw the "Unlimited mileage" as advertised on line. We got final order confirmation from rental car provider indicating mileage "Unlimited" with a small * instead of putting the word "Local driver with limitation" after it to make clear for this crucial differency. The limitation of local driver is hidden in thousand words "Terms and conditions" on seperate page. This "Unlimited" is a trap. It ruined our travel plan.
The rental car provider said clearly and certainly all pre-charged online at ordering will be refunded. All our cost was paid at the counter to the car provider. We thought Economy will get percentage from car provider. But Economy Car Rental said pre-charged fee was not refundable.
These are all facts. A big lesson is never rent a car through Online agency to get a chaep real provider. They have different voices for their different benefits.
