I was placed in room 107 and and found the floor with about a gallon of water on it between the bed and window. I contacted the front desk and was told that they were sold out and there was nothing they could do. I asked for the manager who never responded. We used towels to keep the floor dry by the door but we couldn't use the bed there. I complained the next morning and got the same excuses and again no response from management. By afternoon I found a room that was being cleaned and the evening staff moved us. The new room (109) has a bathroom door with broken hinges so it can't be closed. All that and they did nothing but make excuses for everything. Worst of all, the people staying in room 105 told me they originally were put in room 107 and complained about the flooding and were moved. The next day without any actions taken to fix the problem, they put me in that room. In the end I got nothing for my troubles but "I'm sorry " and no response from management.

I have been a Choice Hotels member since 2016, reaching their platinum status. On October 24 I broke a leg at a football tailgate event and subsequently had surgery and spent 4 days in a nearby hospital. I had a 10/24 reservation at a Comfort Inn/Suites in fort Chiswell/Wytheville VA, and someone in my party called that hotel to inform them I would not be able to make that reservation. The room had been paid for with accumulated points, and for reasons unknown to me, the reservation was not cancelled, and the room was supposedly not re-booked. Choice Hotels has refused to refund me my points. I will not be staying with them anywhere at any time in the future.

Quality inn chesterton, IN terrible experience reserved a room with tub handicap room and there was no tub stopper. Told me they did not have any and did not have any maintenance that evening. Next day they moved me across the hall to a room with a tub stopper. I was worried about the refrigerator and in the daytime they said there was no maintenance and i asked the manager to call me but she was too busy and left the motel and never called me back I was checking the frig and found several spots of black mold. Called choice but the gm never called me back either.

Phishing and scam calls/emails
January 20, 2020

As soon as I entered my email and info to book a stay, I began receiving over 70+ spam emails and calls a day. I immediately canceled my reservation after looking at terrible reviews. I will be keeping a close eye on my debit card...

A $19.99 Quality Inn Marianna, FL
December 18, 2019

I have been of Choice Hotels since 2005 & have stayed at many of their Quality Inn's, Comfort Inn's & Suites, etc., this Quality Inn should be closed! The bathroom in 105,109,119 and one other that I can't remember the number of... all of them were so bad that I DID NOT take a shower! 119 was where I stayed the night and when I woke up in the morning there was a cockroach crawling across my covers on the bed! The bug issue is why I did not go to the complimentary breakfast they offered, I can only imagine what insects were where the food was located! The beds are supposed to be Queen's, but in all the rooms I was shown they were 3/4 or full size at best. When I checked out I informed the the desk clerk of my issues and her response was the same as the night office girl..."we were hit by hurricane Michael and the damage was devastating! We have not been able to remodel all of the rooms yet." My response was "you should NOT be renting ANY rooms that have not been redone due to the hurricane." She said, we haven't had any complaints about these rooms. This motel does not deserve to be part of the Choice Hotels chain, it is at best a stand alone motel $19.99 to $24.99 last choice dive, that should not be associated with ANY hotel chain!
I'm leaving as many reviews on as many sites that I can think of and I'm complaining to Choice Hotels corporate. Corporate needs to do something about this place! Also, some issues were just because of a very low budget maintenance, make do attitude on the part of the ownership of this motel. If you own a motel property and you have a hurricane that has damaged your property YOU need to have the monetary funds to restore the property if you plan on renting the rooms and hope that you are reimbursed by insurance! Also, the accent wall in 119 was painted the same color as the sidewalks, the cleanliness of the entire bathroom floor, around toilet, and the tub was cracked, but it just was not clean and in my opinion if you can't get a room clean enough even after a hurricane then it's not suitable to rent! If a crisis occurs whether it's a fire, tornado, hurricane, flooding, etc., rooms need to be CLEAN! I understand old, out of date, but if a place is just down right unacceptable dirty or unclean due to damage of a weather issue, it shouldn't be rented.

No Resolve!
December 6, 2019

Do not ever stay at a Choice Hotel! We reserved rooms in SC for a race. We went to hotel before race and were told rooms were not ready. Went back to check in after the race and we were told rooms were no longer available. To top it off I was charoged for room that was given to someone else. I have been fighting with them since Sept 2019 for reimbursement of room. They keep telling me that check is in mail. "Bull!". It is now December 2019 and still no reimbursement! I will never stay in Choice Hotel ever again, even if my life depends on it!

Awful beyond belief
November 25, 2019

I don't even know where to start. On the plus side, they offer a points club for inexpensive hotel stays and can sometimes be a better choice than Motel 6. It was attractive for me for many years because I was on a budget.

On the minus side:

1. A stay in Baltimore with the bed DIRECTLY underneath a leaking roof. Water was literally flowing on to our bed and Choice hotels did NOTHING WHATSOEVER to help us with this despite the fact we reserved on this website.
2. Change of terms (I don't remember being notified) which wiped out my entire balance. I believe their 18-months and you're screwed points policy is the worst in the industry.
3. Incredibly bad stays at their low tier hotels like Rodeway and Econo. Simple is fine. Gross neglect of property and dirty rooms is not fine and I don't think any standards whatsoever are enforced.
4. Completely ignored my request to terminate all relationships with their company. To this day I still receive spam emails and my account remains open. Their customer service is a joke.

The Quality Inn in Huron, Ohio has bed bugs & sheets do not appear or feel clean. Having to pursue a full refund through my bank/credit card company who is following up with the hotel manager. The message was received today (Monday) that the manager will not be in till Wednesday. As of yesterday (Sunday), the hotel message was that the manager would be in today at 7:00 am.

First visit 2 weeks ago we walked in to a room that had a bathtub with 4 inches of water and a dripping faucet. This time the bathroom ceiling tiles are bowed from water damage and the vent fan is hanging down. Room keys demagnetized after one day and the (rude) manager lectured me about having the card to close to my cellphone (which it never was).

Beware of false calls from Choice Hotel
June 28, 2019

You need to be aware about a scam going around. I have booked two different reservations recently, at two different Choice locations. Each time I have received a call stating there was a problem with my credit card and they needed to verify the card number with me. They had a copy of my reservation with the last four numbers of my credit card and needed me to give them the full number to reinput or I would loose my reservation. I refused and called Choice direct and was told there was no problem with my reservation. If you receive such a call do not give out your card number. They have somehow hacked Choice's server. They even sent me a copy of the confirmation with my address and choice acct number on it. Be aware and be suspicious of these types of calls! I have since cancelled both reservations and will stay at a Hilton.

On two occasions my credit card was compromised after visiting a Choice Hotel. These people need to forbid their employees to handle customer cards. I have no complaints about their facilities... I just don't want their employees looking at the back of my card.

I travel 100% of the time for my business. For the last few years I have been a loyal customer of the choice hotel brand. I stay at their Comfort Suites properties exclusively. As of this date I will no longer be a customer. Tomorrow I am filing a consumer complaint with the Texas Attorney General's Office Of Consumer Affairs and here is why. I have experienced a few of the complaints, that I have been reading about this company, and up until now I have felt that the good outweighed the bad, until tonight. I checked into the Comfort Suites in Benbrook, TX. This evening. It was my second stay here. Upon check in I ask for the same rate that I had been given before. The lady that I was talking to, who was checking me in, was nice and professional. However, a younger lady walked up behind her and interjected herself into our conversation and she was very "Curt" and somewhat beligerent. She informed me that she could not authorize a discount, even though I was only asking for the same rate that I was given just a few weeks ago, this did not matter. She informed me that if I wanted to stay there that the rate was not negotiable and that if I wanted a different rate that I would have to speak to the property manager the next day. Even though she was still going to charge my credit card for the regular rate. I tried to speak to the lady that was trying to check me in and each time this other employee continued to interject herself into the conversation. She was rude and beginning to be obnoxious. I told her that I wanted her name and her manager's name at which point she told me that "was fine and that I could have it". I told her that she had a lot to learn about customer service and that I was calling their corporate office and filing a complaint against her because of her attitude and she told me that she did not care. She processed my credit card for the standard rate for two days because I was checking out on Friday. Whenever I got to my room I checked my credit card account to verify the amount authorized which was accurate to what I was quoted. About 20 minutes after arriving in my room I received a phone call on the hotel phone from the front desk asking if everything was okay with my room and to let them know if I needed anything. About one hour later I received a call from the property manager, even though I was told that she could not be contacted until the next business day, supposedly! The property manager ask me to tell her what had transpired during my check in and I explained the entire situation. She apologized for the employees behavior and I told her that she may consider some additional training for this young lady in customer service and how to better handle a dispute involving a customer. She then informed me that I needed to go back down to the front desk and pay for my two days stay! I informed her that I had already paid for the two days and that I had verfied this through my credit card online account. She told me that she was going to check on this to verify that and that she would call me back within the hour. She called me back about two hours later and informed me that my credit card had been declined and that I needed to take care of this because she could not allow me to stay without paying for the two days. THIS IS FRADULENT! I have proof that they had been authorized by my bank, for this amount for the two days, upon check in. The manager even ask me to use another credit or debit card to take care of these charges! I packed up all of my belongings even though I was dressed for bed. It was a little after 9:00 CDT. I went down to the desk and questioned this same employee that I had a dispute with about why they were claiming that my card was declined when she had processed my card for the two days upon check in and the authorization had been given? I even showed her on my phone where this amount had been authorized by my credit card company to Comfort Suites, and it even had the time stamp on it, and that it was not declined and all she would say was " your card was declined". She stated this about three times and I informed her that her company had better reverse the charges back to my credit card that had been authorized to them. She would not engage in an intelligent conversation concerning this matter. She only repeated what she had already said which was your card was declined. THIS IS A LIE. It was not declined and they were given an authorization for the two days room charge and I have proof of that! I had to find another motel at 9:30 at night without a reservation. To say that I am livid is an understatement! I plan on calling my credit union as soon as they open in the morning to hopefully stop this transaction from being paid. In addition Comfort Suites has tied up $189.10 of my credit card line of credit. This may seem a little amount to some but it's not to me. The amount is not as important as the principle of this situation! This is ridiculous!

Please beware if you are staying with Choice Hotels. Check your bank accounts for fraudulent activity and NEVER give your card information over the phone.

Somebody from Choice called me two days prior to my stay to confirm my reservation. He knew all my information. Said my card on file was coming up as not valid and they needed to have a valid card on file. I confirmed with him my card info. The next day, my bank account was drained of every penny I had and then some. I confirmed with Choice customer service that they did not make that call to me. The agent I spoke with said he'd document it and apologized for the inconvenience. That's it.

I called back the next day to see why they aren't notifying customers that their system has been compromised. They said there's no way to prove that it happened. Someone claiming to be from your hotel and having all of my information called me with ill intentions. Scammer also proceeded to send me a reservation confirmation email (which I showed the hotel manager and she verified it was from the official address) What more do you need to know? Your systems were compromised and I cannot believe you aren't warning others about this.

I will never do business with you again, nor your affiliates (I've cancelled my Bluegreen Vacation just now). And it wasn't just being scammed that has pushed me in this direction. It was the fact that when I first booked you charged me for THREE rooms when I only wanted one. It took many phone calls and over a week to get my money back. Booking this stay was a nightmare and that all falls on your poor customer service.

My husband pre-paid and stayed at the Quality Inn in Gainsville, Texas while attending a golf tournament 3/28 3/30. He was charged an additional $265 after he left and when he called and questioned the charge, he was told it was a "smoking charge".
My husband does not smoke and has never smoked and did not have any visitors that smoke in his room during his stay.
We requested the manager contact us to dispute the charge and have it removed and he never called us back as was promised.
When speaking to TJ at the front desk, she stated "Oh yes, someone did smoke in that room". There was no smoking during my husband's stay and I believe this hotel's staff is committing FRAUD to cheat guests out of additional money.
I believe they overcharge in the hopes that guests do not catch it on their credit card statement and when they do, they make up a charge the guest has a hard time disputing (our word against theirs). WE DO NOT SMOKE and never have.
I called back again and the manager, Dennis Patel answered. He would not listen and did not care that my husband and son do not smoke and did not smoke anywhere in his hotel. He became so frustrated with me that he actually lied and stated "I saw your son smoking". I offered to fax him proof from our physician that both my husband and son have never smoked.
I requested he send me proof of smoking and the cleaning bill. He stated that he did not have the room professionally cleaned. He first stated the room had to be closed for 4 days because of the smell and then stated for 5 days. My husband checked out and was charged without notification on the same day, 4 days ago.
I have contacted the customer service at Choice Hotels and will be disputing the charge on my credit card. It is very frustrating that hotel staff can lie and overcharge you for something so tough to prove never happened.

Warning to guests of Choice Hotels Econolodge in Manchester, Vermont. This hotel is not to be trusted. I stayed at this hotel from 1/23 to 1/27 in January 2019 and the hotel charged my credit card for the entire stay two times in the same exact amounts on two separate days. They refuse to credit my charge card for the 2nd duplicate charge. Be forewarned that this was clearly not by accident and now requires wasted time and energy submitting claims to my credit card company, Vermont Attorney General, Vermont Better Business Bureau, and Vermont Small Claims Court. THIS HOTEL SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD.

Disappointed with Choice Hotels
February 11, 2019

My husband and I are in our 70's. We stayed at the Quality Inn in Tarpon Springs, Fla. On Wed Feb 6,2019. We arrived to find that the hotel was undergoing "renovations". We had to walk down a long hallway where all the carpeting had been ripped out. There was dust and dirt everywhere! We had to try to jump over freshly applied concrete patches just to get to the room. I coughed for almost an hour after inhaling this crap. We believe the hotel should have let us know ahead of time what we were getting into. For health reasons if nothing else. Tried calling the Choice customer service, but they just blew me off! Really?

I have stayed in many motels in rapid city. Rodeway inn is byfar the nicest stay I have had. The front desk staff are friendly and very helpful. Scott and Christina are so nice and easy going. The manager Chuck makes sure to always do what he can to make sure the guests have a great stay. The motel is clean and quiet. All around this is my first choice anytime I need a motel.

I stay at the Choice Hotels Every week for my job but I just found something about Choice Hotels that I will never stay at a Choice hotel the rest of my life. Here is the story. I wanted to redeem my points for 13 gift cards because I had so many points. They would only redeem for one card and I could only redeem one card every 48 hours. I was shocked. I was counting on the gift cards to give out as gifts this Christmas. So that went out the window. I told them that I am a Marine vet and that is really not a good way to treat a Marine vet. They said they could not do anything about it. They said it was for security reasons, but I worked as a security expert for The Marine Corp and that was the most convoluted security restriction I have ever heard of. They are only making it difficult for customers to redeem their points so they will get frustrated and not redeem them. Who has the time to sit down every 48 hours and redeem one gift card. Its utterly ridiculous. CHOICE HOTELS DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS OR OUR BRAVE VETERANS. To make it worse this happened on Veterans Day. Please, you do not want to support a corporation who does not even support their own Veterans. Choice Hotels showed me what they think about our Vets, Thats all I need to know. I want to thank all of our brave Veterans for their service on this Veterans Day. DO NOT SUPPORT CHOICE HOTELS.

We scheduled a room in Alpine, Texas and caught the flu before we could go. We needed to re-set our reservation dates. The hotel we had reserved was willing to change our reservation with no service charge, but said the change of dates needed to go through Choicehotels.com. When we called Choicehotels.Com, the people there said the were not willing to change the dates of our reservation and that we would be billed for the room whether we stayed there or not. This despite that the people at the hotel said that it was a common practice to allow changes in that type of business reservation dates.
