I was emailed recently to write a review about my stay at the King Inn, San Diego, CA by TripAdvisor. They rejected my review because they said it was not about Kings Inn, but Cancelon. Here is the review.
Kings Inn San Diego
San Diego
No Refund - COVID-19
*******
I cancelled my trip to California on March 14th due to the US Government travel restrictions put in place with the COVID-19 travel restrictions. I cancelled my reservation via email with Cancelon two days before we were to stay at Kings Inn, San Diego on March 16th. I also called the hotel, they were very accommodating and cancelled my reservation with them. They were unable to refund my money because I had booked with a third party, Cancelon. I have not yet recieved a refund from Cancelon.
Charged me more than the site said it was per room and then charged about 17% taxes and fees. Tried calling customer service a few times and had to wait 20 to 30 min every time and even gave up once. I will never book through this company again.
Be careful booking with this site! They just canceled our reservation the night before and nobody could help us get our rooms back! They blamed the hotel stating they had already booked another room at the same rate and they could not honor our reservation. We had to call the hotel and they said they could not give us the same rate as it was offered by this site. Awful customer service!
Terrible company. We saw an available hotel room through Trivago and it took us to book through Cancelon. We paid in full and booked the reservation, forfeiting other opportunities to book somewhere else in Napa. Two days later I got an email saying the booking was canceled and now there are no other options for us to stay. HORRIBLE! Do not trust any booking through this scam of a website. The name is fitting... Cancelon... cause they will cancel on you.
Kayak loaded up the cheapest prices for me and Cancelon came right up.
I logged in to Trivago to find a room for a night. Cancelon had the best price. I booked it but only to find out they jacked up my price after my credit card was ran through. I find this to be poor business practice if not illegal. I called but to no avail. I would never use this company.
Total scam artists. Avoid at all costs. The conference I booked a room for was cancelled due to corona concerns. I asked for a refund because the actual reservation had not yet been made. They refused. I then tried to list the room for resell (their core business) and they refused because the room was refundable. So if it's refundable, why not refund?!?! After hours of fighting, I got nowhere. Someone needs to file a class action against these criminals.
I cancel my order to Disney World hotel concerning the declaration of public health emergency in Florida, the increasing coronavirus cases in Florida. United airline sent me email saying any cancellation without charge on March because of the coronavirus. It's not my personal reason to cancel this order, it's because of the coronavirus spreading in Florida. But the manger in Cancelon refused to give me full refund! How can I order my future trip on this website again? Very bad experience!
Quick, easy and great price for a 4 star hotel! Thank you Cancelon!
Everything was easy and accommodating using the site. Hopefully everything works out when I go on my trip
We loved our hotel and were received warmly when we checked in. It was an easy process.
Had to cancel a trip with my mother who is in her 70's. Her Doctor advised her to cancel because of risks of traveling with the corona virus. They charged me 10% to cancel, wouldn't waive the fee. Said they would waive the fee for the same reason if we were going to Italy or China. Well it's here too! DO NOT USE. I booked through Travelocity and they sent me to this site so don't use them either! Awful customer service and they don't answer the phone for hours!
I did not intend to book through Cancelon. I thought that I booked through TripAdvisor, but then found out that the price advertised was through Cancelon after I gave my credit card information. I had seen bad reviews about Cancelon and was trying to avoid them. While all worked out OK with my booking, several things were worrisome. I received two separate "final confirmations" on different days with different booking numbers. I was also told that I would receive a final confirmation from the hotel itself within several days of my arrival; that did not happen. When I tried to contact the hotel directly to confirm the booking, I was given a separate phone number to call that was out of the country. Would I use Cancelon again? Probably not.
I booked a hotel on Sanibel Island, FL about 5 weeks in advance of my stay, paying full price for 4 nights and received a reservation number from Cancelon. Four days before my stay I contacted the hotel directly and they had no record of my reservation. When I contacted Cancelon, the staff reported that there was a problem with the reservation staff and to allow 24- 48 hours to resolve. After 48 hours (2 days before my flight) I was notified by Cancelon that the hotel had "overbooked" me. (In fact it was Cancelon that had overbooked, not the hotel.) I was given two alternatives: accept an alternative hotel that was not on Sanibel Island or any other beach, or get a refund.
This website worked just fine, no issues. Emails came through alright and everything.
No issues with verifying my room for my stay in New Orleans.
Their cancellation policy (immediate $210 after booking... though they fraudulently state free 24 hrs. Cancellation) and Best Price Guarantee (within 24 hrs.?!?!- if you click on link buried at bottom) is not industry norm and honestly just wrong. I ended up cutting my loses and cancelling a booking that they wouldn't price match 48 hours after booking because the ridiculous fee of $210 was less than the $400 I am saving going with another vendor. So they are no where the lowest and very "gouging". Hopefully no ones end up paying like I had to.
I recently purchased a three night stay at the Warwick Resort in the Bahamas through TripAdvisor's agent, Cancelon. Everything was fine except the "total charges" paid in advance did not come with a warning - as sometimes they do - that additional fees would be collected by the hotel at check. When we arrived, we were hit up for significant additional fees, which were previously undisclosed. I contacted Cancelon twice. Both times they essentially said too bad... Buyer Beware!
Buyer beware, searched and found room for 2 beds. Somehow switched to Cancelon company who booked the room as non-refundable. They sent confirmation of king only. Called immediately and they would not help rectify. Bait and switch on hotel room and there is nothing you can do. Amazon Prime credit card with Chase bank would not help our at all. Out $940 and they do not care. This is scam, just search reviews and 100's come up that had same problem. Worst customer experience I have ever had. They absolutely will rip you off and there will be nothing you can do. Find your rate and go directly to site to book. Do not fall victim to this scam. Find best price and book direct.
It was very easy to book. Later received confirmation that hotel is confirmed and they sent a second email inquiring if I received the confirmation. The double checking was very nice in this world of congested email inboxes. Thank you!
