BritBox garners mixed feedback, with many customers expressing appreciation for its diverse and engaging content, particularly in the realm of British television. However, significant concerns arise regarding the platform's technical reliability and customer service. Users frequently encounter issues with streaming interruptions, difficulties in canceling subscriptions, and unresponsive support channels, leading to frustrations over billing practices. The overall sentiment suggests that while the content quality is valued, the user experience is hampered by navigational challenges and inadequate assistance, prompting some customers to seek alternatives. Addressing these operational shortcomings could enhance customer satisfaction and retention.

Signed up for free trial and then cancelled on the same day. Brit box continied to charge me for 6 months until I noticed. They have not refunded the money and ignore all emails. Besides this being a fairly crappy service. They are cheats. Stay away.
Some (but by no means all) of the programmes are to my taste. However the format is just terrible. It is slow and difficult to use. For instance, if you watch one episode of a programme then switch off, it will direct you to the first episode of that programme rather than the episode after the one previously watched. The very worst thing about Britbox is that the programmes are constantly reloading, often for more than a minute and with just a few seconds of programme in between. When I rang to complain I was fobbed off with suggestions it was my equipment - the same equipment which was receiving Netflix perfectly. I shall cancel.
In August 2018 I started a seven day trial and cancelled the following week. Firs attempt to log in the system said invalid credentials. Customer service contacted to resolve.
I did expect to be billed for the month of August; but was billed twice. Disputed the second charge with Discover thinking it was an honest mistake.
Fast forward to September 7th Discover sends me the following text message:
Discover Card: Transaction of $6.99 at BRITBOX was made on September 07,2018. Text HELP for info, STOP to quit.
Yes. My card was billed again. Below screenshot is their response to my inquiry. You'll see they claim there are not one, but three accounts associated with my credit card? Um... NO. I sent them a reply letting them know the other two accounts do no belong to me and the charge(s) in question should be reversed at once.
I am following up with Discover as well.
My wife & I called customer service at least 3-4 times to have transactions completed & each time it was not done & there was no follow up with us by Brit Box so, we cancelled our subscription in their database. Hopefully they can get that right.
It just won't play on my iPhone. It says "not availalble outside U.S."... and there is no way to contact them or try to get it to work in San Diego. Not good.
Had service for 2 months and all fine, then problems began. Would not let me sign-in, said my credentials invalid. Called 'Support' many times, always said someone would get back to me. No one ever did. Then tried to cancel my membership but was told they have no record of me, that I am not a member. I told them that I had been watching for 2 months and also "you seem to have no problem deducting from my account every month". They told me sorry, they have no record of me. They had been charging my account at the beginning of each month, now I began having a second charge in the middle of the month. I then went to Amex to cancel this charge and they said I have to cancel with the vendor, but I cannot produce a cancellation letter, as they won't admit I'm a member! Amex told me that they have to honor the charge and it is my duty to cancel. My problems are still ongoing, 2 payments have been credited by Amex, but many, many more still stand.

I wrote review few weeks ago that my account stopped working. Well, low and behold, it wasn't Britbox, but my ad-blocking that affected my service. Even though this is supposedly an "ad-free" service, something with my ad-blocker software kept Britbox from showing certain shows/episodes. As long as I pause the software on the site, it works perfectly! I am still disappointed in customer service though, it took way too long to respond and it was me who figured out the problem. They should tell customers if software will affect the service. They are slowly adding more comedies too - I prefer the older ones, but "Bucket", "Marley's Ghost" and "Bliss" aren't too bad.
Signed up for the 7 days free trial. Cancelled after 4. There are alot of shows that were on for years and you only get one season. The first show I watched worked for 10 minutes then stopped and tryed to keep loading. The blue thing just kept going around and around never did get to see the rest of the show. Try watching Acorn TV.
It took us a long time to subscribe but we felt it was worth the hassle in order to see all the great shows on offer. After being able to watch for a few weeks, we were suddenly told that we had to subscribe again. We tried to put in our PIN # and were told it was invalid --- we went online and re-subscribed and changed our password. Next time we tried to access BritBox, we were again told that we had to subscribe and that our PIN # was invalid. I have called Customer Service twice and both times they said they were busy and took my phone number, promising that a technician would be calling us within 10-15 minutes... they NEVER called! I am now going to have to go to the hassle of stopping payment. This is just the tip of the iceberg, by the way! When we are watching a show, it will suddenly cut off and the 'loading circle' appears --- sometimes it stops after several minutes, but usually we just have to turn the thing off. How does BritBox stay in business? Meanwhile, I'm trying to find a corporate address or phone number but have had no luck with my attempts. I guess if I were BritBox Corporate, I would hide from my customers, too... We'll just stick with Acorn.
I only subscribe to see Coronation Street, otherwise I would not bother. I've seen a couple of very good programs, but too many crime, who done it kind of thing... and very old comedy.
Lots of complaints. When it works it is great BUT for 90% of the time you only get half a program. For example last night 26th April could only watch 35%. Kept cutting off, had to reload or change channel. So said to hell with it and tried SKY Cinema. Went to bed early same thing, Now today 27th April told subscription ran out. Paid for six months used it for a month or let me rephrase that had it a month able to watch it 30% of time. STAY AWAY till they get it right.
I have enjoyed the content very much. I have trouble when Im in the middle of watching a show and it kicks out completely. When I go back to re load it isnt in my continue watching, so I have to go find it again. Please fix this issue, Im not the only one with this problem.
It is extremely annoying to have the episode loading time after time without seeing Vera for only a few minutes.
I will cancel after my one month because thestreaming is so poor!
As a Brit living on this side of pond for 22 year was so excited to sign-up for Britbox, and was enjoying shows, even though totally agree with other reviews that offerings are quite stingy, such as one or two seasons are offered, when there are in fact more than 20 available. Last few days cannot access my account, asks me to login in and when I enter my details, says my login credentials are invalid. I then click on 'forgotten password' so that I can reset and it says will send link to my email but no such email ever arrives and I tried this many times. I called the Customer Service number yesterday and the lady told me they have no record of my email address. I told her I have been watching for last two months and they have taken monies from my account in last 2 months! She said she will give me a ticket no. And someone will look into it. This evening hadn't heard back from them and wanting to watch, called again, they haven't looked into it yet. It will take 24-48 hours but sometimes due to technical difficulties can take longer. Think I need to cancel that credit card!
Watch out- free 7 day trial is a scam! After trying for several days I decided to cancel due to the continual Loading during episodes. Very annoying! Canceled on the 7th day and credit card was still charged for one month service. AcornTV is a much better deal and offers much better service.
We are retired, and are totally addicted to British TV. We subscribed to Acorn TV. We were so happy. Unfortunately, before too long, we had seen all of the mystery series that we were interested. Then I saw an ad for Britbox. Yes! It costs some more, but we were willing to pay, then I find out that we get a very limited number of seasons, How disappointing. Of 21 seasons of Silent Witness, we only get one with our subscription? Then it is $3 per episode? There is a season price, but still ridiculous,
We can't afford it. Disappointed, to say the least. Be forewarned before you sign up.
Hurrah- no more waiting for PBS. Many of my favorite Britcoms and mysteries with full episodes and complete seasons in correct sequence. There seems to be alot of sour grapes from the previous reviewers. Britbox is NOT a scam and NOT a rip-off. I have been able to access all of the shows with no problem and I have never been asked to provide additional $ other than my monthly subscription. Britbox keeps track of the shows I watch and I am able to easily resume episodes. Britbox offers a trial period and you can cancel anytime, so I don't understand why these folks are complaining. Keep up the good work Britbox- you have a United States subsciber for life!
As a British TV enthusiast, I was excited when Britbox launched. Imagine my disappointment after signing up for a monthly subscription fee only to get to Season 4 of 'Waking the Dead' and then hitting a paywall. If I want to watch any of the remaining seasons, it will cost me an extra $20 a season in addition to my monthly subscription. I'm leery now about investing anymore of my time in this service, getting to know and love the characters of other series, only to be held hostage if I want to continue watching. Steer clear unless you enjoy getting ripped off.
What is the point of getting Britbox when I get this message on it? Britbox is a scam! I can't believe I paid for this subscription and I can't watch all the shows on it!
Works when it wants to but not very often plus always seems to be a problem with more popular in demand shows. No corporate headquarters listed to email or call is pretty shady, No contact via chat, email ect also very shady.
