BritBox garners mixed feedback, with many customers expressing appreciation for its diverse and engaging content, particularly in the realm of British television. However, significant concerns arise regarding the platform's technical reliability and customer service. Users frequently encounter issues with streaming interruptions, difficulties in canceling subscriptions, and unresponsive support channels, leading to frustrations over billing practices. The overall sentiment suggests that while the content quality is valued, the user experience is hampered by navigational challenges and inadequate assistance, prompting some customers to seek alternatives. Addressing these operational shortcomings could enhance customer satisfaction and retention.

We signed up for a 3 month run on BritBox but the user interface is clunky and not user friendly. Additionally even though we can connect & watch Netflix and Hulu the BritBox application has trouble connecting to the internet. Not impressed. Will probably drop the service after the 3 months are up...
As many other reviewers have noted, BritBox is a nightmare to navigate. Viewers get trapped in menus with no easy way to go forward or backward. The captions tool is almost impossible to locate and activate... especially for an entire series like "Shetland". I am going to cancel.
I have a subscription for britbox, I want to watch the series death in paradise. Why do I have to pay for it, when it's on britbox. I'm not going to pay twice for something. I have the app through Amazon prime. I would like to have an answer.
The absolute rudest customer service agent. TIA She hung up on me when I criticized the service! Called back and she admitted that she hung up. Asked for supervisor and she said she couldn't hear me due to a bad connection. What a crock! Never use this company. Awful outdated programs and sorry customer service. Waste of time and $$$$
They sell you big promises that have nothing behind them. They are happy to take your credit card, but their don't work can't work. Stay away from them, they don't care if you are pleased or not, once they have your money, you can go fall off a cliff. WARN others.
Wish I had checked reviews before I bought!!!
I really like the shows. The violent parts are seen but they are subtle unlike the violence seen in American series. Each series can relate to everyday life. Besides, I love to see the beautiful country sides, gardens and quaint cottages. I am a west indian and I consider my self as a british subject. Ok the i
These people have no clue of the level of service expected in the US streaming video market. They will likely be gone soon.
Their software can't handle buffering, doesn't permit you to limit bandwidth, and has some obvious design flaws requiring you to select the same choice on two consecutive menus. And that's if you can get past their goofy requirements for a password.
Online help is a self-serving FAQ list, and their email query site has never responded to any of my questions.
. Apparently good shows. An incompetent horrorshow of software. Set up on TV, VERY cumbersome, with a LOT of onscreen keyboard work, THEN it fails to complete, REPEATEDLY, until you call their tech support, that argues with you that BOTH on-TV setup never works, and that there's nothing wrong with it because the server isn't down. THEN, you give up and do it all over again with a computer/ phone, or such, and it won't link to TV. WHEN you finally get it setup and linked, you watch something that spends the entire show reloading repeatedly.
And THAT'S all I know is wrong. SO FAR.
A $#*!storm of non-functioning technology.
On May 22 took advantage of the 7 day free trial with purchase of annual subscription at end of trial period... BIG Mistake! On May 29th the annual bill was charged to my credit card. I was still within my 7 days and was in the process of contacting Britbox when I saw the charge had been made. The Britbox agent was hard nosed about cancellation and refund, still within the 7 days. I then asked to speak to a supervisor to discuss the issue. The agent could not connect me and told me a note had been forwarded marked urgent. The following day I contacted them again and was promised a call back. Today, my third attempt I told them I would stop payment on the credit card charge and write a nasty review about their service. Guess what... agent contacted manager and refund was processed. Beware
Impossible to watch anything... constant buffering and simply will not put on the show. Tried to watch SHETLAND series 5, episodes 3 and 4 will not load. Waste of time and money. ACORN is much better.
I signed up online, where the Britbox website required that the PIN have at least 3 of the following: Upper and lower case letters, numbers and characters. You MUST do this or it wont take the PIN, but when we went to watch Britbox on the TV with Roku, we had to click on Subscribe to try to watch anything, and when we did, we got a screen with our email showing as user ID, and a space to type in the PIN. Of course, there are no letters on a TV or Roku remote, so that is impossible. I went around and around with Britbox customer service, they put in a ticket for tech support which generated an auto-email saying sorry for the trouble with buffering, which has nothing to do with the actual problem, and we heard nothing further. After 2 weeks of waiting, I called for a refund as they charged my cc for a full year. They tried to say it was Roku's fault not theirs, but I said then how come other people can use it on Roku but not us. They couldn't answer. They said would refund - hope they do. Acorn doesn't have this PIN problem, so I went with them instead. Too bad, Britbox has some great shows listed, but no good if you cant actually watch them.
I've been a loyal Britbox subscriber on Amazon Prime for over a year. But Bribox's refusal to make episodes 3 to 6 of Shetland Season 5 available is causing me to cancel my subscription. The company seems insensitive to the needs of its customers. It's May 11th and episodes 1 and 2 of Shetland Season 5 were released in February.
I subscribe to BritBox via Amazon: Have tried numerous time to get the last four episodes of Shetland S5 loaded... They are the Feb2th thru Mar 19th episodes... CS Reps have no power to escalate a customer request. Email responses are auto generated...
Don't subscribe this company has a deaf ear: It cannot last.
Tried for weeks to give Britbox my money but their site refused to believe I was in the U. S despite all evidence. Gave up and went to Acorn due the indifference and incompetence of their technical support.
It's so bad no good shows will not refund because it was a gift. Very bad for business. Please don't order Brit Box you'll regret it.
Tried to sign up through ROKU. Ran me in circles technically. Tried to sign up off laptop. Ran me in circles technically! Called Brit Box technical support. Ran me in circles! Told me that I wasn't technically sophisticated enough. Blamed ROKU as being too complicated for BritBox. Of course, I have never had a problem joining other streaming channels through ROKU. Colossal waste of time. Use Acorn, easy to subscribe and fun to watch.
Found out after the purchase that you can't use this service on your Fire stick unless you purchase britbox directly through Amazon. Contacted Britbox customer service but they obviously don't care because I have not received any reply. This "service" is horrible and when we do connect through our computers we discover that their content is horrible and very poor/outdated. Complete waste of money!
I ordered the free trial. Britbox techs discovered I would have to go through Amazon Prime since my tv had a firestick. They set it up for me. After the trial I was double billed by Amazone and Britbox. I have called Britbox 5 times to have them refund the yearly fee of $69.99 that they charged me. All I get is the run around. Even tho I have patiently explained I cannot use regular Britbox and have to use Amazon, Kim, the Supervisor has not given the ok to refund my credit card! Beware, they are not an honorable company!
I purchased a gift subscription for my wife based on the advertising seen on TV. There was no indication that she'd need to purchase another device for the TV and that it could only be accessed via a phone or ipad. She has neither. Unfortunately I didn't first use the free trial or I would have known about this. They refused to refund the price.
The content is pretty much the same as is available on Amazon or Acorn.
Don't try it!
Today is 3-22-19 (Friday) & I just found out there are NO episodes for Friday. This has happened before on Coronation St. No explanation if offered by Britbox-just no episodes. Customer service has no answer about this.
Why can't Britbox send a message across the screen when they are NOT broadcasting a current episode of Corontion St? I can get this on HULU also with my subscription. There is NO special holiday in England today-I have checked.
