No where does it state that if you were adopted or have an amended birth certificate that you SHOULD NOT use this service. I threw away $79. They make you pay the shipping up front and still ship out a notification that says they couldn't find it on a fake certificate. WTF. I called their phone number I found online and no return call in a week... NO customer service what so ever. I had to hunt for that number. And our government endorses this... I don't even know what the alternative is. Other sites show 4.5/5 star reviews for this place and everyone saying "it's legit!" WELL I DISAGREE!
I went on line filled out the info then at the end I saw they asked for my ssn and there was no way I was giving that out. So I cancelled the screen without hitting anything I did not place the order! They sent me a confirmation of order anyway. I called my credit card company to watch for the charge they said I'm not responsible for the charges they are!
100 days to receive a document? Unacceptable. Only time I found this out was when I received the receipt back from them after taking my money. No upfront disclosure. Needs to be a better way. And they won't help me fix it. They just want to double charge me.
I ordered my birth certificate through their online site in April of 2021 and received the ending of October 2021 it took 6 months for something that should've taken at the most a couple of weeks. I also paid for express air shipping and I did call numerous times, each time I spoke to rude ghetto people, I don't know if they have an answering service or what but it was unprofessional to say the least. So I finally called the health department in the state I was born in their the ones that send out your birth certificates they charged me 10$ and I got it one week later, so don't waste your time and money with vital check, just go straight through the health department in the state you were born in it's easier, cheaper and hassle free.
I placed an order with VitalCheck on August 10,2021. VitalCheck asks that you allow 40 business days for processing and shipping. I have made a status request, two separate times, and always seem to get the, "run around" whenever I make an inquiry! The customer service agents, that I have experienced, are RUDE and extremely unprofessional... It has been seventy seven days since I placed the order! I was told to exclude the weekends and holidays, as if we've had thirty seven days of weekends and holidays since I placed my order. In each attempt to find a solution to my, "DELAYED" order there never seems to be an appropriate response to why there's a delay or why my status request have remained unattended to. After all the, " hooplah" I requested a refund and was told that it was too late! I plan to take action against VitalCheck! It's no good at all...
Pretty sure these 5 star interviews are fake
I ordered my birth certificate from these people in August. October 22 I received a package from them through UPS, but it was not my birth certificate. It was a letter from them stating that there is no record of my birth certificate in the San Francisco office, and that I need to check with the San Bernardino office, along with another piece of paper with the address of the SB office. So then I guess they figure that their work is done. Are they for real? I have contacted BBB and am demanding a refund, as these people did not provide the services promised. I paid for a birth certificate, not an excuse. Do not use this company. I originally went to a gov't website and this was the company that it recommended, so I thought it was legitimate. For shame!
Who runs this company?! Every CSR I get on the phone is a Bon Qui Qui. They give canned answers to every question, no solutions whatsoever. I might as well be speaking with a robot. My documents have been rejected by them 10 times! For different reasons and then when all those issues were fixed it got rejected again for the very first reason. What is going on?! Give me the things that need to be fixed and I'll fix them! It almost seems like they're just rejecting it at this point because they're understaffed and don't have time to deal with it. I've been told one thing by one rep and another by another rep. When I bring that up they throw each other under the bus. I spoke to a "supervisor" who was pretty much just Lupe from down the way, she was of absolutely no help whatsoever. It's like the company goes to downtown and asks "who wants a job?" and hires anyone. I have no words beyond this. My mind boggles. It's like a teenager is running this company.
You have the option of a 8 week delay for a birth certificate or "expedited" with the aid of Vitalchek, a subsidiary of a subsidiary of a British data mining multinational.
They apply roundly their processing fees to an already extortionate price tag paperwork that should be processed and shipped for FREE by our government. They wait an agonizing 5 days to "verify" the immaculate information originally sent on the online form and then after receiving ID in the form of a scan, have graced themselves with another week of down time.
To compare, here in France, I make a request for paperwork, online, for free, it arrives in under two weeks with no surcharges for duplicates. It's pathetic to be castrated by this private business in a so called developed country.
Don't trust Vitalchek, I ordered my birth certificate twice and they love to try and take your money, they don't know anything about tracking or the certificate at all they'll just tell you they're a third party company and you will just have to wait until your documents arrive. I've waited patiently for them since July 8,2021 and it's now late October, I'm just trying to get a state I.d. or drivers license because I don't have my original birth certificate! I still haven't received my documents and honestly from these reviews I feel like I probably never will or it's gonna be some new excuse from them saying there's nothing they can do. You're probably better off getting any documents you need in person, don't even waste ya cheese.
Ordered a death certificate from them. They immediately acknowledged the order and charged credit card. When I inquired about when I would be receiving the document, they claimed they never received the order. When I asked for the money back, they stated "since we do not have an order on file, we will not be able to provide a refund."
I ordered a marriage certificate because I lost the original and what I got over the mail was a certified copy saying that after looking for the record they couldn't find it. Are you fuc**ng kitting me?. Aren't you supposed to look for the record before charging for the service to see if the recorded document is available?. Total SCAM!
We needed a birth certificate for the newly required drivers license renewal.
The process was simple. They sent an email when the birth certificate was processed. The birth certificate arrived exactly on the day they said it would arrive when it was originially ordered. I highly recommend them
Had no trouble placing my order & receiving my documents less than 3 weeks later. I truly thought it would take much longer. Was sceptical at first but everything went smoothly. My husband also placed his order & received his 3 days later. Thank you vital check!
What an incredible mess. I needed a certified copy of my marriage license but when I got to the final page before you place the order it asks you for your social security number. I then opened a new tab to quickly check that the website was legit (as I would do with anyone asking for my SSN). And while that page was still open, I got an email thanking me for my order with a receipt showing I had paid $25 for a new marriage certificate. I immediately thought I must have hit 'place order' on accident, but then I went back to that tab and I still hadn't put in my social security number or clicked 'place order.' My bank statement shows the charge came from Vitalchek. Two weeks later, they contacted me and said they needed more sensitive info to fulfill my order, I let them know that I never placed the order, that I never gave them my SSN, and that they charged me for something I never ordered.
I got three different responses: The first response was from someone who said they couldn't find any evidence of any charge or any order, which is funny, because I was able to provide an order number in the screenshot of the bank charge. The second person said that any question about charges or cancellation needs to be done through the Maryland Vital Records Office, which is interesting, seeing as how the charges came from vitalchek.com and I haven't ever interacted with the Maryland Vital Records Office. The third person simply said they weren't sure how this could have happened, and then ended the conversation. Luckily I was driving up to Maryland that weekend and was able to get what I needed for $5.50. I still haven't been refunded the $25. I'm not going to pursue this any further because it's such a small amount, but they absolutely stole this money from me the minute I put in my bank info. Everything about this company is a scam.
While ordering a lost birth certificate, I was instructed that I had to notarize a form and return it before the order would be completed. Well, 5 minutes after printing the form, I found the document. I then cancelled my order. However, I was still charged a $12.95 processing fee? I called and explained that I was going to dispute the charge as fraud, but they insisted I was going to be charged the $12.95 fee. Well, it's off to the credit card company.
WHAT A SCAM, AND WHAT CRAPPY CUSTOMER SERVICE! They charge you for doing NOTHING!
WHAT A NIGHTMARE. This is a never ending circle of passing paperwork back and forth, back and forth. Their forms are unclear, then the pass it back after it has been notarized for a middle initial that is in one place and not another - there is no intelligent life here. Large parts of the process are automated, so you get confusing emails, then when you get a different person on the line, they have some pecadillio that causes your application to be rejected. I have 3 masters degrees, spent 30 years in the military - I know how to fill out a form, but this is just crazy. They take part of your money up front, then keep jerking you around - you get told to fix one thing so you fix it, get it re-notarized. Then they find something else - back to the notary to correct that. It is just ridiculous - I have no problem with making things "right", but my homework should be graded ONE TIME and the form should be CRYSTAL CLEAR. Dont waste your time with these clowns.
I went ahead and ordered an official copy of my birth certificate and despite the bad reviews everything seems to be great. It delivered earlier than it said it would. My estimated time was October 5th, and I received it this morning September 24th. I ordered it on September 7th. I had filled out all the online info correctly, and I think that may be why I had no issues. No need to talk to customer support. A. gov website recommended me this this site somehow, and I was skeptical, but it worked out perfectly. If you're in a pinch this will work out just fine.
Don't use their services, they are a fake website, as the birth certificate wich I received was fake
Wish I could rate negative -5 for their service. Worst service provider to deal with it, I am still unable to believe that they are still in business. I have ordered birth certificate for my kid and she is now 9 months still trying to upload the documents.
First time: my wife filled the application and she uploaded all the required documents then within 24 hours I have received an email saying Order was on Hold. At this time, all they need is valid Government Issued photo ID. Therefore, she uploaded her Driving license. Again received email alert saying upload the documents (ID Proof). This cycle repeated for six-seven times (every time we upload and receive the same email saying same thing).
So sort it out, I have called customer service to find out what is going on but no help offered from customer service, they are simply reading message saying that please upload any photo id.
At the same time, she advised me to cancel the order and resubmit the new order. Therefore, I have cancelled order and resubmitted. This time it was my turn to go through the cycle. I have received the same email.
Before uploading I have verified the PDF(Photo ID) and its very clear and no issues with the document(as I used this same document for other services(other govt agencies).
My mother ordered a divorce decree that she needs in order to obtain VA benefits. It has been 6 months and still no decree. When she checked the status it states that the "time has passed to process." There was a phone number provided but they don't answer or take messages. They took her money ($90) but will not return her emails requesting the status. She only has 3 months left to get this to the VA or she will lose all the benefits for this year. As I told her, they are stealing from the elderly and it's not right.
They finally responded with the statemenIs below They claimed I never responded to their previous emails. I forwarded the emails showing my responses and dates. They then sent an email stating there were no records, I reminded them I had a photocopy of the divorce decree so there were records.
VITAL CHEKS RESPONSE
"New York State Vital Records has responded to our inquiry regarding the status of the order stating that no record was found and that they will send you a certificate stating such."
Their next ridiculous response, which I just received, stated that I should reorder and pay them again. And they are still claiming the information given to them was incorrect even though it came directly off the divorce decree.
VITAL CHEKS RESPONSE
"If the information within the order is inaccurate, they stand a high chance of not finding the requested record.
You may also place a new order, making sure to enter the most accurate information possible, so the correct vital records office receives the order."
And when I told them that was ridiculous this is their response.
VITA CHEK RESPONSE
"Response By Email (Andrew A.) (09/14/2021 05:20 PM)
Dear Customer,
I apologize for any confusion, but this order is closed. The vital records office determined that no record could be found. This completes the order process and I apologize if VitalChek did not meet your expectations."
This is inexcusable.
Answer: They are probably legit, but if you are ordering your Birth Certificate just do yourself a favor and order your death certificate along with it because you will probably be dead before you get it!
Answer: We appreciate you utilizing VitalChek's convenient online ordering platform for your vital record order.
