Ordered BC on 1/17. They were unable to process my credit card, did not contact to let me know for 2 weeks. Contact them on 1/31 to because when I went to check the status online it ( finally send notice that credit card payment wasn't processed). Speak to a representative, she processes the payment & although I ask her why the online form still states that the credit card was declined, she tells me not to worry about it - will update. I see the credit card has processed on my end- but a week later on 2/7-Vitalchek online form still states payment declined. So I call back again, stay on hold for 15 mins while service rep checks on it. Asks me if she can process my credit card again, I tell her no- since I can already see it went through my bank on 1/31. Puts me on hold again to talk to supervisor. Comes back and tells me it's a computer glitch & though they can see it was paid- the system didn't update it. She cannot fix it, nor can her supervisor- they have to get a 2nd supervisor involved and have to call me back. Calls back an hour and half later, says yes can conform payment went through on 1/31 and they just now sent my request to the state to get my Birth certificate. WTF? So sat on payment for a week... no notice. If I hadn't called to check- they would have just kept my money and not submitted the request. It is now 3 weeks and I cold have just submitted my request directly to my state vital records office and not paid these@@#$! To just hold my money and do nothing, I'm still a month out from getting my BC. Oh, and I just checked this order status online... and my order still says payment declined( ironically with a Green checkbox?) The odds of me actually receiving anything is not looking good. Will call back again later today to find out why it still says "payment declined" when I am more calm and less shouty.

They won't refund their fees even if you cancel within hours. Basically making money for not doing anything at all

I ordered my birth certificate 2 weeks ago, paid for UPS overnight shipping and the fast 5-7 day processing. It has been 8 days, and it has not even processed at all. They won't refund me the $18 from the shipping cost and lied about processing time. I needed this certificate for my passport!

I needed my birth certificate in order to get a new license so I can get my handicap disability tag due to recent knee surgery. I spent close to $100 dollars it said processing time 3-5 business days and you pay that much in shipping so you would think it would get here fast. But no it's been at least a month and they could not refund my money. NEVER use them to get your birth certificate because it is just a big waste of time and money.

We ordered a birth cert for my boyfriend in Sept. 2021. They only offer regular 1st class shipping. Nothing expedited. No tracking. It never arrived and they won't resend it or refund the money. We gave up and tried again 15 days ago. Jan. 10,2022. It ask for proof of identity this time - the previous time it did not. He lost his driver license and doesn't have any way to get another without his birth cert. We can't be the only people in this predicament. So we ordered again. $15.00 plus $8.30 - $23.30. This is the 2nd time I've paid these a-holes. The forms suggest that a valid photo work ID with a current pay stub from a verifiable employer is proof of identity. That's what we sent. We then got a few emails saying the documents were approved, the order was being processed. Now today I have an email saying the order was cancelled and they are refunding my $15. 00. Yeah, thanks. I paid $23.30 (TWICE!) and my boyfriend desperately needs this document. WHY THE HELL IS THIS THE ONLY WAY TO GET A BIRTH CERTIFICATE!? They are scamming people. They've taken nearly $50 and won't provide anything for it. We are going on 5 months with this company. Nothing resolved. Insane.

They sent the wrong BC and refused to reorder the correct form unless I paid them again. They would not guarantee that what they were ordering would be the correct form either, only that I would need to pay again if they ordered the wrong form. I know this sounds unbelievable but this was a real conversation. Unfortunately, this is the only option if you live outside of your birth state.

They ask for a credit card before finishing your order. Then they ask for several more things. If you don't have those things, you lose your money. They will not help out!

They suc. 7 months to deliver a birth cert. Do not use them. Just kept blaming the state and the covid outbreak.

Really abhorrent service. Placed an order for a birth certificate on October 17th, it's DECEMBER 22 and still received no shipping information on my order. My estimated delivery date (November 17th) has already past and still no indication of where my order is at the moment. Will you have you on hold trying to connect with someone, and no one will pick up. Please don't use this service. They need to be investigated for scamming people and low tier business practices, people don't have $$ to be throwing away like that

My niece tried to order a birth certificate from them for a child that she is the legal guardian of, and they asked for documentation. Papers were faxed to them. She paid extra to have it delivered asap. The payment was taken. The birth certificate was delivered, but two weeks later there was a $11.25 charged to her card. When she called and spoked to someone about the charge the person had informed her that it was a processing fee and they haven't received her documents. My niece explained that she had faxed them to them and she has the birth certificate already. The lady on the phone rudely said so you had another order because the order number you gave me is showing you missing documents. My niece was told that a processing fee is being charged. My question is how can you charge someone if you didn't have to process anything? I pray that she don't have to use their service again

They take your money for birth certificates orders and then don't permit a way for you to send in your notarized signature. They are a fraudulent company with no one to call.

I requested a death certificate and after several inquires, they stated the agency sent me a letter that I did not respond to. I tried to inquire on the status of the "letter" again and they didn't reach out to me or the agency to help secure the certificate. Now they are charging ME a cancellation fee. They got paid for NOTHING... No customer service person called me or tried to provide me a status. Do not use this service. They only take your money and provide NOTHING.

I have never been able to order any of my children birth certificates (copy) with out waiting weeks. We ordered my husbands BC (Couldn't find it after a move) and it showed up in less than 24 hours! I will definitely be letting people know! Thanks so much!

I had to use them prior for my son's birth certificate, and it went fine. I have to get my birth certificate after a move, and it's like pulling teeth. Driver's License and military ID front and back, and they say the signature is no good. I signed two authorization forms, because one was too light. I get the notarization form in, and after I contacted Customer Service, I get an email with some attitude, saying now they can't see the ID cards at all. Not a very good company and has poor customer service.

Personally I had a great experience with vital check. I needed a birth certificate with the seal to get a passport, and I ordered it before Thanksgiving November 20 and it said it was shipped on November 24 2021 and I received it Monday, November 29. A signature was required and I had no issues. I was a little skeptical at the reading all the comments, but I will recommend them to my family and friends specially for passport needs.

Horrible business practice and going to contact my county about not using them as a service. My scenario is a bit different than most here but just as disgusting. Created an order for a birth certificate. Site said I had to print and mail off the documents, which defeats the purpose of online service. So I cancelled it and just did it in person. As soon as I canceled they still charged my card. They did say they reversed the charge we'll see if they actually do it but still, predatory practice for people who don't check their accounts. Trash company people that work there should feel bad about working there.

- Even though my order was shipped back to the sender by UPS because I didn't pick it up in time, Vitalchek went the extra mile and contacted the sender to have it mailed to me AGAIN via USPS for free. This is a good company that cares about the satisfaction of their customers: Even though they were well within their rights to have me repay a processing fee without doing a thing, they fixed MY mistake in order to secure my satisfaction. I definitely recommend them to anyone ordering records.

What they don't tell you is they are only the MIDDLE MAN and cannot verify anything for you. Unfortunately I had realized it too late after having to order for the second time a birth certificate that one of their employees did not take the time to properly fill out. There will ALWAYS be MIDDLE MEN, but if you are trying to make money in the middle please at least be honest about it instead of representing something you are NOT and then fail to answer proper questions when it refers to such delicate information. I am happy to have been burned by VitalChek - to allow me to WARN others to just manually go through it yourself and fill out the application (the actual pdf on whatever said state website). What they are trying to make in the middle is NOT worth the headache of a grabby company ONLY seeking to satisfy their palate instead of the inquiry of the unassuming customer. I would have given 1/4 of a star, but it doesn't allow!
