I have personally used VitalChek many times over the past several years, most recently to obtain birth certificates for myself and my son (Maryland and New Jersey, respectively). On both occasions, the transaction went through smoothly and I received the documents in a very quick turnaround. In fact, with my son's certificate, I was anticipating issues due to a very sudden move, but VitalChek worked with me to coordinate hand delivery of the document to our new address, with no extra costs. I highly recommend them.
They took my money just fine. But never delivered a certificate, and there is no customer service possibility on their website or anywhere else. They send email, but block responses. No phone, links on their website go noplace. WTH?
I ordered a birth certificate on Dec 2,2021 for a late March cruise. Never received it. Useless customer support. No email responses. I finally called the municipality of my birth and for 1/4th the price I had the document in hand in 3 days.
They falsely claim that you can "void" a payment and get your money back via a diagram of the website using tabs and options the website doesn't have. These people need to be shut down. They too $56 dollars and did nothing
My best advice is to just go through your county recorders office since it's cheaper and doesn't steal your money and deliver nothing
Just be careful on filling out the forms. When ordering multiple birth certificates they are quick to charge you delivery fees for each birthday certificate. I got charged 80 dollars for four birthday certificates. I took pictures of how I filled it out. Customer service said there is nothing they can do. So just be careful on filling it out because they are quick to charge you
I went through all the steps putting all my information all my child information for a birth certificate because I didn't have a drivers license I had to go find a notarization person to notarize who I was I don't drive and I recently had surgery on both of my hands so I would have to take a bus or public transportation that's the same cost as it is for the fee I think they need to put more information right there to tell you what you're signing up for and if you cancel this order you have to pay an additional six dollars fee because you don't want to go through with it I rather wait in line then deal with this crap I didn't see none of that when I was signing up for it but then when I called them they said check your email it's additional six dollar cancellation fee come on out you can show that on the screen as I was on there and then every time I try to click on something else it's like enter your number into your pin number like what the hell is going on is this a scam I think the better business Borough need to be contact
I had a wonderful experience. I ordered my birth certificate of March 3,2022 and received it on March 10,2022. According to the website it should have taken 11-14 business days. It was really easy to order, and definitely quick. If you are in need of a copy of your birth certificate, I recommend using this service.
5 stars!
I needed a certified copy of a birth certificate for a passport. You MUST APPEAR IN PERSON at your county clerk's office. So just go there and do that. Show your driver's license and fill out a form. The Vital Chek was a middleman that just made it more confusing. Call your clerk's office first if you are older. In San Mateo County old birth records are in a warehouse so it takes longer, a few days, it took four days. The helpful people at the county office I rate highly, 10. Very helpful and kind. Thank you.
Please please go to your county recorder office directly or send direct mail for whatever you need, but never youse this crap service from vital check. I had an international trip planned with my newborn daughter and requested birth certificate via vital check right after her birth -- biggest mistake. ~7 weeks later I noticed the UPS tracker for the document is not updating for a while, and later its revealed UPS lost the doc. I contacted vital check customer service stating I have a trip soon, and need my bay's birth certificate to prepare her passport -- they just said we'll refund and you can create a new order which will take another 7 weeks! WTF! What about the $20 I already used to notarize and fax my application? Why do I have to restart everything after ~7 weeks when I have a trip coming up in 2 months? All the docs are already there, why not just re-process? There was not a single sorry from the customer service during the whole conversation. I am never going back to this crap.
I never received the birth certificate after paying over $43. I needed it quickly and now it is too late. I am asking for a refund but told "there is nothing they can do." On a previous phone call, It was suggested that I pay a second time & just reorder.!
I ordered a birth certificate through VitalChek back on January 25th. I really wish I had read the reviews first. It is now going on March and I have heard nothing about my birth certificate that I desperately need. I called in New York City department of health and vital records the other day since my birth certificate was from New York and they were able to look it up and say it was completed but cannot give me any information about if it was shipped or when or what. They gave me an email address to email but I have not heard anything back from them. Today I called VitalChek themselves since I ordered through them and they basically told me that if it was completed by New York there was nothing they could do yet they wouldn't want to receive my money and they were also supposed to follow up with an email when it was shipped which they did not do. So I cannot get any answers where my birth certificate is. Stay away from this company they are nothing but scammers.
Can't make up their damn minds on what documents I need for my husband to get his birth certificate!
They are damn idiots!
I didn't know where else to put this. Last night, I spoke to Ana O in an online chat to help me and my partner get out of a seemingly hopeless situation after recovering from homelessness and trying our hardest to get our lives back on track. She single handedly solved every issue we had, and gave us answers to every question we had. I hope she sees this one day. Thank you Ana!
1 star rating. I requested 5 certificates over 3 months ago and received an incomplete envelope over 2 months ago; 2 items were missing, although the note inside said all 5 were sent. Even though I paid for all 5 items, the process to receive a refund for the missing items has been a waste of time. I've made numerous inquiries to both supervisors and reps who made false promises as to the timeline and process. Most of the reps/supervisors I spoke with blamed the County of Los Angeles, even though "Vitalchek" is the entity who I paid. One of my last requests was to Victoria, who said she would place a request for refund and that I should expect it within 5 business days. Today (after 5 business days), I called Cindy to see if my refund was in process. She informed me that no refund was requested, so Victoria did not place the request she promised. Waiting 3 months to receive important certificates and over 2 months for a refund is a failure of customer service. I would not recommend this service to anyone. Btw, the option to upload a "pdf" (proof of purchase) did not work.
Updated: Although most of the process was frustrating, "Cindy" who I spoke with last (2 days ago) did everything she said and more. She promised that she would submit my claim for refund and would be credited (CC Acct.) within 5 business days/10 if something unforeseen occurs. The very next day, the refund was approved and processed to my CC account. If all of "VitalChek's" reps were as efficient as Cindy, it's business rating would certainly improve. I've amended my rating with another star. THANKS AGAIN, CINDY!
I'm only writing this because my "order" finally updated... over a year after I made it! I still have not received the order and at this point, IF I do I will be surprised. The backstory here is lost my BC, needed it for updating my DL. Ordered it here a year ago, forgot about it because life happened. Got the update a year later... am still waiting for it. My point here is, be prepared to wait! If I could give less than one star I would.
It has been 60 days since I placed my order and to this day have NOT received my son's birth certificate! I spent $52 to have it expedited and they practically stole my money in front of my face! I called and emailed them and only got a run around saying it's in the State's hands.
I ended up getting the birth certificate at the Vital Records office for just $20 and in 15 minutes! I'm NEVER EVER ordering through VitalCheck! Save yourself TIME and MONEY and just book an appointment at a Vital Records office!
Just avoid them! I ordered a Birth Certificate in October 2021 they charge me $71.70 + $12.75 after a few days they cancel my order, so I asked for my money back and I did send it a screenshot from my bank account that they charge me and the insist saying that they did not charge me HAHAHAHA
Horrible company. Ordered my birth certificate so I can get a passport on December 15th it is now February 14th. Two months. Finally called no one would pick up the phone after several attempts over several days. They did finally get in contact with me via email stating that they were just now processing orders from november 25th and for reference I ordered mine on December 15th. Looks like I wont be going to Europe. This company is so bad that I want to give it a zero but, that's not possible so I give it a ONE.
Dont be fooled by this company. The department of vital statistics should be ashamed for partnering with this business. I ordered a birth certificate and paid extra for overnight shipping. They charged me just over $50. Over a month had passed without receiving the birth certificate I ordered. I had to file a claim with my bank because this company did not return any of my calls.
Order placed 11/10/21 with delivery on 12/21. No delivery and very unhelpful customer service. Numerous phone calls to follow up but still no delivery. Refund requested. This company operates as a middle man and cannot do anything to help when deliveries are not received. You are better off going direct to the state site.
Answer: They are probably legit, but if you are ordering your Birth Certificate just do yourself a favor and order your death certificate along with it because you will probably be dead before you get it!
Answer: We appreciate you utilizing VitalChek's convenient online ordering platform for your vital record order.
