Placed an order for a birth certificate on March 11th and was told the processing time was 3-5 business days. It is now May 25th and I have just received a call that I can choose to receive a refund after I followed up with them previously on two other occasions asking for an explanation. Needless to say, an explanation was never given. Very, very unreliable service and would NOT recommend if you are needing your birth certificate in a hurry.
I placed an order thinking that I could get a copy of my birth certificate online to renew my driver's license living in a new state. For four days I've tried on multiple occasions to reach someone in customer service and waited over an hour on two attempts regarding my order status or to talk to a live person. I have not received any follow up email as I have sent in all the documents I need to get a copy of my birth certificate. I even took a picture of myself with the day's date for proof to show that I am the person. They also lied and made it seem as though I could get a printed copy online that day, which after going on close to a month, I sent them an email stating that I would like a refund, which they don't care about helping you at all, since they will take your money by stating that the $7 processing fee is nonrefundable. Which is the only reason I tried going through their copy in the first place was to get an online copy.
I can't figure out what this business is actually doing. I do know they're great at taking the money they believe they're owed for work that they don't do, but what I can tell you is that they will throw the Vital Statistics Department of whatever municipality has contracted them under the bus for their error. I ordered my birth certificate through vital check with the next day delivery by UPS on May 5; after repeated phone conversations with VitalCheck and the municipality, it appears that VitalCheck is clueless. I believe that when they issued the (UPS) shipping label, they didn't confirm the state that the birth certificate it should be sent to. I live in a city that has the same name as towns in other states and they never checked/verified that. Interestingly enough UPS delivered three packages on the same day I was told that my address didn't agree with the address, therefore my birth certificate would be sent by regular mail. I received my birth certificate on May 13. Thankfully I received it in enough time for me to be able to use it to renew my drivers license. Please do not use vital check. I am still awaiting reimbursement for the UPS delivery charge of $20 that I have yet to receive.
I paid $53 for a document from Virginia Department of Health Office of Vital Records one month and one week ago and they still did not send it to me. I could have driven there in two hour and get it prepared in two hours. Absolute thieves!
Overall Expensive. Received in a timely matter. Information wrong on Document. Bad customer service. Very rude n not will to help
I ordered a birth certificate for my daughter 2 weeks ago and today I received it in the mail. I'm so satisfied with my order and the time frame in which I received it!
I was skeptical after reading other reviews but the rmv website led me to vitalchec. It is so expensive but I needed a birth certificate to renew my professional drivers license. I read the reviews AFTER paying. But 2 days later I received my birth certificate and renewed my license 5 minutes ago. It cost me $80 including expedited shipping. But. It worked flawlessly. I would definately recommend them. It beat missing a day of work to go to the Boston Town hall and waiting in line a few hours. Yay Vitalcheck!

This company scam they didn't get my license so I can get a passport don't use these people they will have u waiting
This is the very worst company ever to deal with. Rude, charge 3 times the amount the state websites do for the exact same thing. I was assured that I would have my document by a certain date then when this did not happen I was told it was not their problem or responsibility after they sent the request to the state agency and the that the problem was resolved. Customer service is rude and defensive, I have used my option of reporting them to the state.
While I ordered my own birth certificate, and later my father's, without incident, the problem was with my grandmother's death certificate. The site indicates the relationship that I have to have - no problem. I was then asked to provide my birth certificate to prove my relation (by the way, that was NOT required to get my father's birth certificate), but then was also asked to provide my FATHER'S birth certificate. Really? If I can prove who my father is, the State clearly knows who his mother is. I didn't have my father's birth certificate at the time and, as it turns out, he didn't have a copy either.
I asked the company to cancel and refund since they obviously couldn't provide the ordered service nor had they made it clear in advance that I'd need multiple birth certificates to prove my identity. They indicated they don't refund, so I said never mind then. My sister then DIED, so this wasn't my priority at the moment. When I finally got a copy of my dad's birth certificate - sorry, we've canceled your order, no refund is due.
I don't know why the State uses them still when they have an atrocious satisfaction rating. It feels like a money-making racket. Plan on filing a complaint with the State as well.
AFTER I filled out all the forms (to get a copy of my grandparents marriage certificate) and submitted my cc# for payment, THEN Vitalcheck revealed that my request needed to be notarized. I declined, but they still charged me a service fee.
In the meantime, I was able to get the information elsewhere (without a notary)
It's pretty unfair that this is the only company that grants citizens access to their own government records. This allows them to get away with charging unnecessary fees (e.g., forcing you to pay expedited shipping fees even if you aren't in a rush). I mailed in my request to avoid some random online access fee, but even after I doublechecked to make sure I paid the required fees on the printed document, they put a hold on my request until I sent them $2 more. Nobody could tell me what this additional $2 was for, and said that I would still have to pay the search fee if I cancelled my order (even though nobody had yet been employed to search my records). Seems like a for-profit company is getting super rich on being the only verified source for government records.
I ordered my marriage certificate through vitalchek on December 21st, 2021. To this day (April 26th, 2022), I have not received any news about my marriage certificate. The estimated delivery was for February 1st, 2022. I cannot tell you how many times I called their office to get an update on my document. I never once received an email with a status update. I had to make a status request almost three times, and they even gave me a refund with no further explanations as to when I would receive my document. It wasn't until this past month that I found out I could order my marriage certificate through the county register of deeds where I got married. I filled out a form online, and the waiting time was one-week maximum.
I want to add that I'm from NC, and it wasn't until about two months after ordering my marriage certificate that VitalChek informed me that the waiting time for it was 120 business days. I understand that this may have been the fault of the state of NC, but VitalChek did not communicate ANYTHING to me through phone calls or email. I doubt I would have known anything if I hadn't called almost every day to check the status of my paperwork. Please do better, VitalChek!
Please do not use this site, never received documents. Paid 40$ to have documents mailed and they never was received. When I tried to email customer support they just stated that I could check my status. My status showed that they were mailed but that is it. It's been over a month. This site is a joke.
If I could have rated this company a -2, I would have. On Feb 11,2022, I put in my mother's name correctly on the first page, then on the 2nd page it asked for her father's name and her mother's name. I don't know how they screwed it up, but they sent me a "reject" letter on March 17,2022 saying they did not have a record for my mother UNDER HER MOTHER'S MAIDEN NAME! I immediately called them to try and get it straightened out, but they said I am the one who put the name in incorrectly, which is a crock of hooeey. They said they would resubmit the request. They also charged me $91. $18.50 of it was for mailing, which they gave me no option but Express Mail. Ha! I had to wait 35 days for a response, they insisted I pay $18.50 to "get it faster"? Horsefeathers! I called today, and they said the sent me another "reject" letter on March 29,2022, which I never received. I DO NOT recommend this company at all. Save yourself some money and download the form from lavote.net and mail it in. Their website says it takes about 20 days, whereas vitalchek takes over 30 days, so the time lost going through the mail is not that big a deal.
Never received the birth certificate... twice... yet I had to pay their exorbitant fees every time. If your customers are never receiving the documents they've paid for then we shouldn't have to pay the full amounts every time! Seems like a scam to collect triple the amount for a single service. State of Arizona PLEASE use a different company to process these vital records.
Without any clear alternative, I went through VitalCheck to obtain a (NYS) marriage certificate. The stated processing time is an incredible 50 to 100 days. Of course, while VitalCheck claims to process the request (i. E. forward to the appropriate NYS department) quickly, it is impossible to know whether they actually do, or if it is the NYS administrative machine that is supremely slow.
While I could give VitalCheck the benefit of the doubt, I cannot do that with their phone support.
Dial and you will hear about the all-too familiar unusual call volume they are experiencing. After a long wait, the "phone is picked up". I barely heard some person talking as if in a near-by room. I repeatedly said "hello?, hello?". Then I heard some foot steps (actually feet dragging on the floor) - progressively louder, suggesting that somebody was actually going to pick-up the receiver. But, no. The person hung up.
This is bad by any standard, if tax-payer money is going for this kind of service, this is truly terrible.
My father passed away in January of 2021; After a month, I applied for his death certificate through VitalCheck, and they requested more documents before proceeding. Once I uploaded the papers on their website, the application was pending, and it never moved from that status. I contacted them dozens of times thru emails and got negative results. They ended up taking my money, and later they sent me an email saying that the case was closed. You are not able to talk to them on the phone either. They have no respect for people that have suffered a loss of a loved one. They want your money without providing the service they promised—what a business model. I recommend doing it yourself or finding a different company.
I paid the $20 copy fee & the $10 processing fee, but didn't receive my birth certificate. The VitalCheck representative at *******777, tells me their records indicate it was mailed, and if I'd (have paid the extra fees to) have it delivered via UPS we could track it. Their solution: gave me another/state local phone number to call and sit on hold endlessly. I cannot renew my driver's license & thus couldn't vote today because of this. If you can, visit your local municipality to get your birth certificate. This company is terrible and most likely crooked.
I will never recommend the use of this service. If I could rate it a 0, I would. Non-refundable service fee, regardless of if you cancel your order or not. Enjoy my $12.95. Find your local vital records and go there directly. Was much easier for me overall.
Answer: They are probably legit, but if you are ordering your Birth Certificate just do yourself a favor and order your death certificate along with it because you will probably be dead before you get it!
