Caveat Emptor
April 26, 2022

The a absolutely worst online purchasing experience of my life.
They are NOT helpful. Dont answer phones and there are many hidden costs and conditions that, apparently, you agree to when you do business with them. When specifically told by their representative that "all you have to do is contact us after the installation, we will send you a shipping label, and you get the core charge retuned.
Turns out, that's not the case.
You will lose 75% of the core charge for shipping it back to them.
Oh, and complain to your credit card company, they void your warranty.
It's a scam.
Caveat Emptor
You will only receive approx. 25p)

Fraudsters, stay away
April 19, 2022

I bought a used 6.6L LB7 Duramax diesel engine with an advertised mileage of 93,000 miles. What showed up is an engine with 293,000 miles. They refuse to refund a portion of the purchase price and they refuse to cover the cost of replacement. They are resposibile for significantly loweing the value of my vehicle and refuse to make me whole. The next call is to an attorney.

Hush Hush on the warranty.
April 2, 2022

I bought a engine from SW and not once did anyone take the time to explain to me about filling out paperwork to activate the warranty, never on any of the phone calls or anything, that should be one of their biggest responsibilities to let the customer know what is needed in order to activate the warranty. This is my first experience buying a motor like this and I had no idea that you had to activate your warranty, I have the date and time of install and a copy of the receipt so that should be fine in order to receive my warranty cause this is what they say you need to activate the warranty but they only give you 12 Days to have it activated so what if you can't get it installed that soon, it's a scam and then they stay extremely quiet and don't tell you anything about the warranty so you get screwed out of the warranty, total garbage company stay away from SW Engine.

2.7 liter Boxster Engine
March 6, 2022

I ordered an engine in June 2021. The firm says engines are cleaned and tested. This engine was filthy and two cylinders failed compression and leakage tests. One cylinder had no compression and one was only 50%. The second engine has cleaner but one cylinder had deposits on top of one of the pistons discovered during the borescope inspection. The third engine was clean and passed cylinder compression, leakage tests and borescope tests. I filled a complaint with the State of Wisconsin and they were able to help and a third engine was delivered. This engine was installed in January 2022. The only good thing I can say is that the warranty manager, Cindy did answer her phone. No testing nor mileage was provided on the installed engine. I would not buy from this company again. Invoice was ******* for proof of purchase.

Crooks crooks crooks
March 3, 2022

Paid $2995 for a "quality " engine. Took 7 weeks to get it, once unloaded realized I had gotten a junkyard motor. Both valve covers broken and duct tape over. All lines and hoses cut through. Demanded a return and refund. They picked it up and won't refund me the s&h charges. Do not deal with these crooks!

Horrible experience a Rip-Off company
February 22, 2022

The sad part is that about 5 years ago I bought an engine from them and it turned out to be very good so I decided to use them again and here recently bought another engine in December 2021 I ordered the engine on December 4 2021 did not receive the engine till January 5 2022 and when I did receive it it was shipped poorly full of rust. My mechanic immediately inspected it and discovered that it was no good I then called back could not get in touch with anybody on the warranty department to help me out for some time I finally got a response and asked me to send pictures in order to figure out whether or not they were going to decide how they were going to give me another engine they finally came and picked up the engine on February 3 and I have still not received any information in regards to a refund from them, from what I'm reading from other peoples reviews chances are I'm probably not gonna get a refund back or if not maybe just 75% of it because of their 25% restocking fee if I'm lucky.

Awful Company
December 31, 2021

I have had the same experience with this company as everyone that has posted here.
I was sent at first a bad motor that was labeled "for parts only" and then another motor was sent that had 140,000 miles while the sales contract was for a motor with 64,000 miles. After I refused the 2nd motor they refunded part of the money but still kept $1488. This was completely on them to supply me with a motor as advertised but they miserably failed to do so.
I made many calls without getting through to anyone but or no response - within an hour or so of filing a complaint with the State of Wisconsin there was a response from their lawyer who was evidently just
Waiting for this complaint.
They seem to only exist to rip people off. If that is not bad enough they have a lawyer that is corrupt enough to defend them. The State of Wisconsin wants to be rid of them but for some reason have not been successful. Mr Howard Phillips is more than willing to assist anyone with complaints. It may also help to address this to your credit card company and see what they can do to stop honoring sales through companies like this.
If they want to respond that is fine but as usual they will deny they have done anything wrong. If they want the invoice number they will have to look up the invoice themselves.

Scam artist with zero customer service
December 16, 2021

My mechanic said they sent me a broken engine as soon as he received it.

Called them repeatidly, and they refused to help us, or even return any of our calls.

After several weeks of no response from them, my mechanic had no choice but to put in the engine anyways to get the car out of his shop.

6 months and less then 24,000 miles later and the engine completely died.

It took two weeks of constant calling before the company said since you didn't file the warranty in 10 days it's not out problem.

These yahoos cost me over $5,000 in lost money.

Run!
October 8, 2021

You buy a used engine and you get a piece of garbage not even properly secured to a pallet or
Worth your $ to get installed because you'll need to pay to have it taken back out when it doesn't run.
I ordered a used engine from this place without doing proper searching for BBB reviews and customer
Reviews. Just simply type SW engines into a search and you'll instantly see what kind of company this
Is. I cancelled my order once i watched a news clip about these POS. The next day the engine showed up with no tracking or heads up it was coming. They delivered an engine that our local garage said was filthy and had been sitting around outside for a long time. They advised me not to even think about having them install it because there was a good chance it wouldnt run and i would be wasting alot of time and $. They refunded 75% of my money and kept 25% for a restocking fee. Filed a dispute with my POS bank and they found in favor of these turds. Pretty good scam these people have going on. They are NOT accredited by the BBB and they have a $#*! ton of horrible reviews... take our warning and stay clear of these maggots. They pray on unknowing people in distress over having a vehicle with a bad engine! My story matches so many reviews i can't believe PNC bank in Pittsburgh sided with them. I'll be taking my banking elsewhere.

Bottom of the lake!
October 1, 2021

I want to know how ordering something is always very simple? Then anything after that is a damn nightmare?!?! Ordered my motor... saw the pics of it, picked it out because of the mileage and overall `appearance. Well ya know, Its everyones excuse now. Covid! It takes 3 weeks to put that motor on a fedex truck! Then fedex screws it up with another week and a half. So im in this for over a month now! Motor finally shows up... I unwrap it to check for damage. Its not even the motor i ordered! In fact, its not the right motor at all! That and its beat to hell! They crated it so bad that it had probably fallen over during transport. The worst part is how they took this thing out of whatever god forsaken vehicle it came from. They did not give a damn! They torched it off, burnt wires all over, just cut everything... did they bother to clean it up?. Nope! Which means they didnt test it, they couldnt have! It came from the bottom of the lake! Their customer service from then on was nothing but transferring me to some ladies house that politely asked me to stop calling, hanging up on me, or just piucking up the phone and putting it right back down! Finally got Sanchito on the phone and he basically told me to go f**k myself. I screamed refund over him and that was about the end of it. Im already disputing the charges... this isnt going to go well

I thought I bought an engine and transmission and after a month I cancelled my order. They want a restocking fee for something they never had. TOTAL SCAM! They want that restocking money. I don't believe a single positive review. Do not fall for this SCAM. Now I have to fight to get my money back.

Stay away from SWengines
August 28, 2021

I ordered an engine from them on a monday. I found a less expensive engine 2 days later on a wednesday. I cancelled my order since I did not get a shipping tracking number I figured I would get all of my money back. They still took a 25% restocking fee ($823) before returning my money. I have called countless times. I finally got a hold of a manager who informed me that since I cancelled after 24 hours I had to pay the restocking fee. Their own website does not show a time frame on when you can cancel. I asked him if I could just go ahead and repurchase the engine for the original price so I would not be out of $823. He put me on hold to check to see if the engine was still there, After 2 minutes he hung up on me. I tried to call back 6 times with no answer. I wish I would have read all the horrible reviews before I dealt with this company.

Everything seemed fine
August 27, 2021

Caveat emptor. Maybe this is a good place to buy an engine, maybe not. I don't know because i never received mine. Lots of high and low reviews on line - here's mine: ordering was easy, definitely five stars. Saw a lot of those reviews. The same reviews also typically said "haven't received my engine yet". That's because swengines asks for a review as soon as the order is completed. Wait a couple of weeks. You won't get a response from an online "contact us" inquiry. So you finally make a phone call. Again, very friendly but not too helpful. In my case i found out that my order had been "deleted" four days after it was confirmed. After talking to three different very friendly people over four separate phone calls the best i got was my order was deleted. No money due, no refund pending. Done deal. Maybe in a way i got lucky and i'm not one of those who say they got a pallet full of junk. The credit card company will get to figure out where my payment went and get it back. Good luck.

I purchased a used car engine from SWEngines for $1595 with a mileage of ~62K miles. A month later it was delivered to my mechanic's place of business. Because on the delay, I contacted the auto parts/salvage yard as indicated on the bill of lading. In talking to the employee who handles engines sales, he verified the sale to SWEngines and found out the engine has over 180K miles on it.

I would recommend that you get the VIN of the engine you are interested in and before ordering, get a vehicle history report. You will find that company doesn't actually have in their possession the engine you want. They will search the network of auto parts and find an engine nearest to your location. So when you receive the engine, you can verify the VIN again (the VIN is stamped on the engine).

It has been over a month now that I had the engine at my mechanic's waiting for it to be returned and then hopefully, I will get a refund.

I posted a rather detailed account of my experience on reddit, just search for swengines.
