Had a terrible experience with TAP Portugal, as a United Premier 1K (star alliance Gold) I was happy to take on their advise to extend a layover in Portugal from London England to Montreal, we had booked our tickets a while back but 5 days before our flight I called their customer service to ask if we could be moved to an Earlier flight from London to Lisbon to have a few more hours in their country, the lady was kind and made the change, never said anything about fees. Following day I had to call back to get the new confirmed itineraries that never arrived by email, spent almost 2 hours on the phone, upon a call back check they confirmed that the agent had made a mistake by not warning me of a penalty and I still had to pay now if I wanted to use my tickets with them, they were charging me $2800 USD. The man who called himself Josh was helpless and would only raise his voice to corner me into making a decision. I finally gave up and hung up as I refused to pay TAP anymore money. I found a one way ticket out of London to Montreal for $1200 for all three of us (my wife and daughter) I still think I was lucky to find such a good deal less than 4 days prior to traveling. TAP stole us, insulted us.

Easy to book. I said "no" to all the optional services. Got my confirmation of the booking just hours after I had paid.

Charged for seat assignments without warning and didn't receive seats. This should be illegal, since I did not ask for seats and there was no indication that I would be charged $120 for seat assignments. I am traveling for cancer treatment (stage IV) and I can't afford any trick or surprise charges or bills from anywhere.

They tracked & I successfully secured a better airline fare, than any other site.

SmartFares was a fairly easy website to use but sometimes it would go out and a different price would come up. Because I was having trouble booking for seven people I called a number at the top of the page and got a hold of someone from a travel company that wasn't SmartFares. He proceeded to pressure me to pay $75 dollars more per ticket than what was shown on the SmartFares website. Telling me that that was to best price possible because the seats were getting sold out already for November. I declined and very happy to save the $75x7.

Got good discount in ticket and also process was easy

It's was a little unclear when it didn't show which day i arrived in London.
