I rented a car from Sixt in February of 2022. I rented a Audi Q7. In October of 2022 I was sent a bill for a camera traffic violation. The time on the ticket was interesting because I knew I was not in Chicago at the time the ticket happened. After finding the ticket, going into the city of Chicago site, reviewing the pictures taken, I noticed it was actually a BMW X1 and was not the car I rented. I had to request the charge to be removed 3 times before they finally credited my account. No further consideration was given from Sixt for the incorrect billing beyond a refund of the charge. Apparently my time and energy is worth nothing to them. I would never rent from them again, and would caution everyone about renting from this company.

Worst Car Rental Company

If I could rate this no star I would. We had a confirmation number for a car rental. We told the girl (Pearl) at the counter that my husband was the only driver. I paid with my credit card and she asked for my I.D. to verify. I even asked her if we should use my husbands card and she said no, she only needed my I.D. to verify the credit card. We told her we did NOT want no extra coverage because we have our own insurance. She even asked which company we had. When we asked for a receipt we were told they do not print out receipts they are emailed to us. When we received our email, Pearl had me as the primary driver and charged us for an extra driver. She charged us for a Roadside protection coverage. I called the company and filed a claim. I just received an email stating that they are not going to refund us for the extra charges. I feel we have been deceived by the representative and the company. We have never had a bad experience with any other company. We will never rent from Sixt again.

Avoid Sixt!

Avoid Sixt Philadelphia! I rented from them only because Hertz and National had no cars available and I needed one on short notice. After I turned in my rental they sent me a claim for damages noting there was a "scratch" on the front of the car. They sent a picture from which a scratch is not even visible, and then later sent an estimate of over $500! I spent the 1.5 hrs to forward their invoice and forms to my credit card company who thankfully has insurance against those claims. Now, also, I just had a mysterious $45 charge show up on my credit card from "Sixt USA". After trying to call them about the charges I cannot get any answers from them on what the charge was for, so I will have to spend the time having this bogus charge reversed/declined. This company wasted a significant amount of my time beyond any experience I've had with Hertz or National over the past 30+ years I've been renting cars. UGHHH...! Would give zero stars if that option was available. Very frustrating!

VERY BAD SERVICE! THEY LOST A CLIENT! FOR EVER!

Wir hatten für den, 06.07.2022, ein Auto bei Sixt im Hauptbahnhof Frankfurt bestellt und mit Amex bezahlt.
Bei unserer Ankunft am Mittag war das Büro unbesetzt und niemand zu erreichen. Es gab kein Hinweisschild mit Kontaktdaten oder einer Telefonnummer.
Laut unserem Vertrag siehe Foto, ist das Büro von Montag bis Freitag von 06:30 bis 21 Uhr besetzt.

Da wir niemanden vom Buro am Hauptbahnhof in Frankfurt erreichen konnten, mussten wir zu einem sehr hohen Preis ein Auto bei Europcar mieten.

Im Anhang finden sie Fotos von:
• Uhrzeitangabe im Vertrag
• 4 Seiten Vertrag
• Rechnung von Europcar
• 2 Fotos vom leeren Schalter ohne Hinweisschild

Ich verlangte eine Stornierung der Zahlung und eine Entschädigung für die viel höhere Miete bei Europcar.

Nach 3 Monaten und mehrere Beschwerden hat Sixt leidliche 129 € zurückerstattet. Lächerlicher Antwort und Entschuldigung, nach 10 Jähriger treuer Kunden haben Sie mich endlich verloren...

Scam company

If I could give -5 stars I would. Said I had damaged vehicle when I returned with no damage. Had my wife's name as second driver and somehow they said she was the main driver. Got a letter from collections. Please DONT use this scam car rental company. Just look at other reviews if you don't believe me. Good luck!

There's no info. On website about driving to Canada and and car can't be driven to Canada
And Sixt is refusing to refund the money

I could have dealt with the mediocre customer service. The employees were nice. There was an incident and the car got scratched and my insurance company paid for the damages in full. The deal breaker for me is the company gouging me for loss of use and after telling me IN WRITING that they would not charge me any more than what my insurance company paid, they went ahead and charged more money on my credit card. I don't do business with corrupt liars. Hope that extra 250 they milked out of me was worth the thousands I will never be spending there again.

Don't use, not upfront, hidden costs

When we rented a car from Sixt on our recent holiday, we did not get the car we wanted, they charged us more for the car they gave us. They did not put the contract on the screen when they get you to sign it, they just read the terms to us. The contract when it came via email was in German.
We had booked to drop back to a different location and we eventually swapped the car out for the car we did want and when we returned the car they kept 1000Euro of our deposit because we returned to different location, even though that was always the plan. They stated it wasn't
They then, a week after dropping the first car back sent us a letter to say that car was damaged. We filled in a form they sent to state we were not aware of any damage when dropping car off and that no one when over the car with us.
When we dropped it off, they were open but had us return to a car park, lock the car and put key in drop box. No one went over the car with us. Now 2 months on they have sent us a bill for 1500Euro for the damage, which we were never aware of. They told us that we just didn't notice that they inspected the car.
There is not transparency, and they seem to just keep adding costs on regardless. We were very unhappy with every aspect of the experience

They are simply scammers prepay rental they will take imprint of your card and add on all charges for anything you don't agree too I'm referring my contract to ombudsman and taking legal action like many other they appear to SCAM!
Vile company bewarned!

OVER CHARGE

Got my invoice after renting through Orbitz and the price is almost doubled. They nicked and dime every thing and don't ho or the price of the contract. I'm dispute the charge with my bank. I will pay what I agreed to, but not all the extras, especy since I didn't even get the car I rented. Returned the car with an almost full tank and was charged 70.00 for fuel. It cost 38.00 to fill the damn thing.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESES CROOKS!

Fraud

I rented a car at Denver international Airport and was told as long as I returned it by noon I would not be charged an extra day. I was even encouraged and reassured that I had an hour over. Fraud, Fraud, Fraud! Was very happy with Sixt until they stole my money. Con artists!

Sixt are thieves

I rented a car from them at lax airport I requested a none smoking car cause I don't smoke after I return they car 3 days after ther charge me $486 to my card saying th found a cigarette but in th car and I don't smoke it's a month now and I can't get my money back I will never rent from sixt again and I don't think anyone should cause they will charge your card for something you didn't aware of

HELP POLICE!... THIEF!

I have never before encountered a business that flat-out steals money... until now! I prepaid for my car when I arrived in Tampa to pick up my car I have them my combo debit/credit card which had $6,000 in my account. They said they could not accept it because it must be a regular credit card which was never made clear. I said "Fine just return my money" They refused my refund even though they provided no service. I appealed several times without getting anywhere. Stay as far away from this crooked sketchy business as you can.

OVERCHARGED

DO NOT RENT FROM SIXT! They over charge then keep you in circles while trying to fix the issues. Still not fixed. I was charged from Priceline and then from SIXT. They charged me for multiple insurances? WTF. I signed up for only 1.
Save yourself time, money, and headache and rent somewhere else.

Wow-so disappointed in their customer service. I've rented from sixt at least a dozen times. Booked two reservations (Italy and England) recently. Show up to get our car in Cagliari and am told I'm blocked. Wth?!? It still shows active in my app. Rental agent can't give me any info only to call sixt. I call sixt and they tell me to email customer service. Emailed customer service and nothing. It's been 28 hours since my email and still no response. Had to scramble to get a new rental in Sardinia as it's high season here. Funny they still wanted to rent to my husband at double the rate. In the past I always recommended Sixt but never again. Needless to say I've canceled the England reservation as it was still showing active in my app.

DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY! THEY HAVE A HISTORY OF MAKING FALSE DAMAGE CLAIMS. I went to the airport to pick up the car. The lady processed the rental on the computer and said nothing to me about walking the car to make note of prior damages. I was instructed to go to the garage where someone handed me keys and said there is your vehicle. The rental agreement wasn't even emailed to me until I left the airport and I didn't even look at it until I arrived at my destination. The rental agreement had a looong list of prior damage that was very vaguely described. Needless to say because I did not take photos of the car I am stuck with false damage claims in the tune of $903.34 that DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE I DROVE THE VEHICLE. My advise is to find another rental company!

Refund Policy

It is impossible to speak with customer service. I paid for a rental car well in advance and needed to cancel. When I did (with 4 months notice!) SIXT kept 20% of my payment in full. In an email exchange, they absolutely refused to refund the $100. This is not how rental cars typically work or should work. Watch out!

WORST RENTAL CAR COMPNAY EVER! What a rip off. They didn't have the car I reserved so they put me into something else. Like always I did a once around the car for damage but didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Well, who knew you were supposed to look at the tires and wheels. They are now trying to charge me 90.00 GBP for Aluminum rim front Passenger side scratch 10 cm (down to primer) What an unethical company. DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS!

I will be disputing the charge with my card company

Sixt in Rome airport (Fiumicino) saves the day!

Just want to say what amazing service I got from Sixt car rental at FCO airport, and a special Thank-You to Francesca for saving the day. After the worst experience ever, and failed attempt, when trying to pick up the car I rented from "okmobility" at FCO airport, which I book through ECONOMY BOOKINGS, she went beyond her call of duty and helped my family and I find a car at an amazing price. Thanks Again!
