My terrible experience with DoYouSpain.com opened the door to the opposite experience with Sixt Rental Cars. After being refused a rental by DoYouSpain's partner, Goldcar, I went to the adjacent window at the Tenerife airport. The staff at Sixt Rental Cars was friendly and warm and rented me a car with no problem. There's a Sixt Rental Cars near my Porto, Portugal home. I have rented cars from them three times, with the same friendly, thorough, polite, professional interaction and clean cars in impeccable condition. I highly recommend Sixt Rental Cars.
I was charged a smoking fee $400 had the van for one day returned it the attendant went though the van and found no problems. I get an email saying there was a strong smell of smoke and pictures of what I believe is ashes on the seat and the floor of the middle row. Mind you it was just my wife and I. We got the van because it was cheaper and only needs it for a day until we could catch our next flight. This was after we just returned a car that we had for 4 days and returned with no issues. The charges my card for the first rental then refunded it then charged it again and refunded the $200 security deposit then instantly charged me for the smoking fee $400 plus an extra day. I finally got that back. But the $400 I'm still fighting for. Customer service says they have nothing to do with the locations and the manager's decision is final. The location doesn't have a direct number how convenient and customer service sucks. Next step is the BBB and a lawyer.
I have rented their car at the Las Vegas Airport Branch. I opened the email by the car and checked existing minor damages that stated on the email. There were 7-8 marks and I found all of those minor damage except 1 was saying there is a chip on the Windshield at the driver's side. I checked very carefully but couldn't see it. It was evening but I still checked it with the flashlight of my phone and clearly there was no chip. I assume they fixed it and forgot to clear their note.
Later that day, in broad daylight, when we were driving, my friend on the passenger side realized there was a chip on the PASSENGER side. I took a picture but still didn't worry since they had a chip on the windshield. I assumed, instead of the passenger side, they stated driver side by mistake.
When I returned the car about a week later, I explained this to the lady where I dropped the car and said should I inform the office? She said it's an express drop off. Office will take care of that no worry and she told me that I can leave since the office knows what it is.
I received an email about damage later. I explained everything clearly and sent them pictures I took later that day. I also told them you have windshield chips stated on the damage list. It wasn't on the driver side but the passenger side. They said they will review it. Guess what, they fixed that damage and sent me over a $700 repair bill. I didn't pay and they kept sending me an invoice and forcing me to pay it. Do yourself a good thing and stay away from this company. Very poor customer service.
As a result, Sixt is forcing you to pay for their existing car damage. Steer clear from this company.
They will charge you for any mark they find. Barely visible scratch most likely from a tree branch; mark from seatbelt getting caught in door; mark on bumper from suitcase. There is no such thing as normal wear and tear. If you do rent from them make sure you get collision coverage because my normal car insurance will not cover such small things but the crap they sell you will.
I experienced a flat tire during the rental and had purchased the AIG "$0.00 deductible full coverage insurance". The SixT's administrative costs are not covered by the AIG policy and was billed exorbitant fees, for no documented reason, by SixT.

الموظف يسلمنا السيارة لعدم وجود بطاقة كرديت كارد وانا ما بتعامل ببطاقات الكرديت وعرضت عليه ادفع نقدا مبلغ تأمين الفان ريال حسب طلب الموظف وبرضه رفض وعرضت عليه احجز بطاقتي البنكية وبرضه رفض وخبرني راح يرجعلك مبلغ المدفوع سابقا من خلال شركة بوكينج دوت كوم وتواصلت مع بوكينج خبروني لن يتم ارجاع اي مبلغ يعني باختصار شديد استغلال وكسب غير مشروع والحصول على مبلغ بغير وجه حق للاسف بشكل قانوني انا بناشد وزارة السياحة السعودية تنتبه لهاي الشركات القائمة على استغلال اي فرصة للكسب غير المشروع على السواح وللاسف بشكل قانوني حسب ما خبروني انو العقد هيك موجود بند فيه طيب اذا العقد في ثغرة مو من صالح تشجيع السياحة في الدولة وهي شركة بالمطار يعني تمثل الانطباع الاول للسائح القادم للدولة هل نستغلها لكسب مبالغ بغير حق انا حزين جدا على اسلوبكم يا شركة سيكست الذي لا يمت بأي شكل من الأشكال على التطور او التقدم او التعامل المهني الذي تتبناه المملكة العربية السعودية ادام الله عزها وعز ملكها

I'm a repeat customer and I've always had very good experiences with Sixt. They make pick up and drop off very easy. Any time I've needed to reach out to customer service they have been very responsive, helpful and friendly. The only hiccup I've ever had was due to the third party I used to rent the car from and not Sixt itself. In fact, Sixt corrected the other vendor's mistake. They've won my loyalty and have a life-long customer.
Do not use SIXTH even if they are the cheapest option.
We just returned from a trip to the UK where I used SIXTH in T5.
Vehicle had only 90 mile fuel available in tank and no electric charge.
They have billed us twice on our return a total of $4,450.
Hours spent on calls to a call centre where they put you on hold, have very poor communication skills, claim they can not help and refer you back to a web site that doesn't respond.
We have reported it to VISA insurance as a scam.
They really can not be trusted please do a full review on all sites before making a decision. This was the worst company possible to use - they have zero customer service and double bill people constantly.
Un scandale! Nous avons reçu une voiture endommagée, avec 20 dommages, égratignures et bumps. Au retour de la location, juste en passant son doigt magique, le préposé nous a accusés d'en avoir ajouté une nouvelle, alors que nous n'avons jamais eu d'accrochage. Ils nous facturent maintenant 670 euros pour la réparation, alors qu'ils n'ont jamais réparé aucune les 20 autres! Une arnaque. Voir photo, la seule qu'ils nous accusent d'avoir fait est en rouge, alors que toutes les autres marques existantes étaient sur le contrat de la voiture reçue
The car alot black marks on the inside roof. The inside lighting had black stuff under light covering. The driver and front passenger door animal paw prints on them. The car smelled likes a dog had been in it. The deposit was cheaper than other places, but for those conditions I'll pay the higher deposit. I was very disappointed/ mad as hell i $329.00 for 3 days rental. Sixt should be ashame of themselves renting a car out in those conditions
I recently rented from SIXT. The initial duration was for 19 days.
My plans changed and I returned the car after only 4 days.
The agent told me that I would receive a refund (about $650) for the unused portion of the rental.
SIXT subsequently refused to refund ANYTHING. No explanation. Just a refusal. I tried to call their customer support line which was busy for days.
I WILL NEVER rent from them again and am spreading the word to ALL of my friends and acquaintances.
I view SIXT as thieves.
Absolutely disgusting and unprofessional service. I reserved a convertible car at the Fort Myers Airport location and after 1.5 hours sitting there waiting for them to "clean the car", it was told me that they accidentally gave my reserved vehicle to another person. Lorraine, the used car salesperson type, promised to make it up to me by upgrading me to what they consider a luxury car and ensuring me that I would get a discount for the inconvenience. Just to find that not only did I not get a discount but I was charged additional fees. It is impossible to get through anyone at the "customer Care Line" and they do not allow you to be connected with the lying Jerks directly at the branch.
You will be charged more than quoted! So Be Aware! No customer service! No integrity! Just a sham! We will never rent with them again and I'm sure they do not care! BBB will be notified.
Bate and.switch on the booking, Additional undisclosed charges and fees, after the car return, they claim damage to the car after a few weeks after I returned the car. I would not do business with this company and its affiliates ever again, even if they pay me.
I have purchased a 11-day one-way Rome to Stuttgart rental 2 1/2 months in advance for a quoted price of US$1,960 (11 days rental@ $61.14 of $672.54, one-way fee $684.28, registration fee $28.27, premium location fee $221.61, taxes $353.47). During the purchase I was advised of cancellation fees of up to three days of rental cost. When attempting to cancel 12 hours I was facing a EUR 488.42 cancellation fee (apparently calculated as EUR 1798.87 / 11 x 3) so I decided instead of cancelling outright to change the reservation. While making the change, the site listed "a difference" of EUR 652.76 which I expected would be refunded. But no, the updated invoice showed the same exact amount I paid initially (EUR 1,790.87 = US 1,950.98). So, SIXT had no intention of refunding the "difference" and I am being charged for a service I can get at a competitor for $861.12 the amount of $1,950.98. This is for a reservation made 2 1/2 month in advance. So, I can only recommend either read the fine print (which is so voluminous that it will just not happen) or better STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY ALLTOGETHER! If they deal with customers like this in Italy, it is likely that it will happen in the US as well.
By the way, I called the US SIXT Customer Service number *******227 on 3/29/2023 around 12:30 pm to discuss the situation and after I explained to the agent why I was calling she just hang up without a word. For anybody at SIXT US who might have a reason to follow up on this, the Reservation # is *******190. That employee needs to be fired.
Very poor customer service. I was on hold for 35 minutes and they are not at all flexible. Go to other car rental places anything is better then SIXT
I, too, returned a car to Sixt. Both I and the sixth employee did a walk around of the car, and there were no damages. Three days later, I received an email saying that I had scratched the car, and they demand 800.00 dollars to repair it. This is a total scam. Does anyone with the same issue know how to fight them?
August 2021. I rented a car in Venice Italy for two weeks drove it 150 miles to my home. I got Covid after 2 days and was in the hospital for 3 1/2 weeks.after 2 days I was worried about the car rental so I called them and they said they would have the car picked up in 2 days. Which they did not do, so I had to car driven to Venice by two friends 5 days after I rented it. They charged me the whole bill of €2000 and did not give me one days credit. I drove the car for 150 miles and they didn't give a damn.
2 years. As this was related to work it would be paid by the company if it was issued right away. I had left the company long time ago and recieved the fine 2 years later. Should be possible to forward an email quicker?
They charged my card 5x & I had to wait a week to get it back. I literally parked the car in a garage for 5 days and they accused me of multiple damages that were on the vehicle before I rented the car. The most insulting thing was that I washed and cleaned outside and the inside of the vehicle better than the condition I received it in, just out of courtesy and they come back with false accusations. Looks like if the attendant doesn't verify damages " on the walk thru" it passes on to the next person who doesn't claim damages
