After return of the car Sixt discovered a scratch to the bumper, they claimed was caused by me. Strangely enough the attendant went straight to the bumper and felt with the hand underneath the bumper and exclaimed there is a scratch,which was not visible to the eye. When I collected the car, no damage report was available, which was later e-mailed and stated existing scratches to the bumper.
I did explain to Sixt, that I did not cause any damage, however they insisted on payment.
Sixt obviously behave fraudulent and their business model is to extort money.
If you want a car that works, don't rent here.
First off there are times where they flat out just don't answer the phone in the evenings. I tried four about 4 hours one night, 5 Separate calls before I gave up. Hold times were said to be 10-15min each time. The whole time listening to their horrible hold music about how amazing they are. If you have trouble with you car (like I am now) good luck, be prepared to drive a long distance to get a new one. Im not sure if the car is even going to make the 78mi drive. Oh and on pick up the car had no wiper fluid, so they obviously don't check the car fluids before sending them out again. The staff at the locations are decent, but everything else customerservice wise is horrendous. If there is even a slight chance you might need to contact them, look somewhere else.
I now see from reading the reviews that many other people how experienced the same scam as we have with Sixt Car Rental. We rented a car in Portugal. The car was in terrible shape at pick up (many dents, a lot of mileage, cracked windshield) but we were tired and just wanted to get going, so we didn't complain. We drove it for a fairly short distance and it had a blow out flat tire. The incident cost us a full day of our holiday. They eventually sent a tow truck and a taxi to take us to get a new car. Then when we got home, we received a HUGE bill for damages. This is a an absolute SCAM! DO NOT ever rent from these people!
They charge you for damages of parts which were already damaged … 3 months after the rental date! With an exceptional high amount. They are not friendly and agressive! I would everybody recommend to never rent a car with them! Such a company is a danger!
Absolutely a disgusting business. I would never trust them again, nor recommend them. Take anyone else but them. They keep your car bond/deposit for 7 days (maybe longer, as still not recieved it back) after a 1 day hire. They say its the bank that is holding it. My bank said it was they were holding it. Crooks.
RESERVED A CAR AT CLT. NEEDED TO GET TO BOONE THAT NIGHT. SIXT HAD NO CARS. WHAT IS THE POINT OF A PREPAID RESERVATION IF SIXT HAS NO CARS. A CHILD CAN FIGURE OUT HOW MANY CARS ARE NEEDED BASED ON RESERVATIONS. SIXT IS HORRIBLE!
We booked our rental care through Expedia. Went picked up the car and they charged us with additonal fees per day, due to my husband was the driver and he is not the one that paid for the rental car. Nor did they say, your husband can use he card and there will be no additional charges. We live in the same household, we have the same checking account and credit cards. I emailed Sixt and frequested a copy of the contact between Expedia and Sixt, and I also asked them to call me. They do not want to provide any agreement/contract nor do they want to pick up the phone. They would rather hide behind a keyboard. I also provided them with a copy of their rental agreement, which is online. Sixt agreement is silent of additional charges for diving that are not paying. Sad that you have to spend additonal money when you are on vacation and trying to enjoy your time! They are a Debbie Downer! Never had this issue with Budget or Avis.
I was in Chicago in October 2022. I was "caught" by a camera for speeding. I had absolutely no idea... I was new to the area.
March 30,2023 I receive an email from Sixt demanding that I pay the $35 ticket- no problem. I paid it directly to city of Chicago. BUT they are also asking for a $40 administrative fee because I didn't pay the ticket on time. What? How can I pay for something when I don't know I owe it! They never notified me.
Now they are threatening me. I wonder if most people pay without questioning? I have notified the Better Business Bureau and have found out there are roughly 2,000 complaints!
I rented from Sixt twice in one trip. Once in San Antonio and then in Phoenix. It seemed like a great experience until the day after I returned the second car in Phoenix. I received an email that the windshield was cracked. I had inspected the car upon return and did not see this damage. There was no representative there at return as it was an early flight so it was about 5-5:30 am. They later charges me $733 for a new windshield! They are unable to provide any pictures of this damage. When I picked up the car, I was told to take pictures of any damage not already disclosed so I'd have time stamped photographic evidence. I feel I should expect the same evidence, but as is, I feel this is damage that could have happened after the return (maybe by running a hot Phoenix windshield through a car wash) and then charged to me. Or maybe it never happened at all. Now I'm waiting to see what my insurance and their adjuster can do about it. I feel I've been SCAMMED.
Ironically, my husband and I rented a car through Budget a few days ago that did get a rock chip while we had it. When we told the agent upon return, they said not to worry about it. I'll never rent from Sixt again.
The app doesnt work you cannot change your kms used and then they sting youbwith charges you have no control over becuase their app doesnt work.
I recieved 30 emails with different invoices feor 3 month rental and should of had 3 invoices. The app srated i had 7600km in my favor when i didnt and i could not change the package. A complete mess. Still fighting with them 2 months later and they are still returning and charging payments randomly. I feel like bombing the head office.
Terrible company to do business with - deceptive advertising, quotes and fraudulent billing. AVOID!
I will never rent from Sixt again. The company has outrageous hidden fees and is totally unresponsive to customer concerns. I have rented cars for many years -- never again with Sixt.
Ive had regular car hire throughout europe for over 45 years and NEVER had this trouble before.
We pre.ordered and rented two cars from sixt at hotel luna Albufeira.
Everything was fine until the final invoice arrived 3 days after my return to the UK.
One car invoice was fine, yhe second car invoice had a charge for almost €100 for fuel, despite us filling up the car and showing the full tank to Bruno, the advisor, almost 3 weeks later and 8 emails to both sixt portugal customer services (no replies whatsoever) and hotel luna desk, (1 reply, thanking me for the email) I have had no further replies or even acknowledgement of the problem.
I am now having to contact my credit card company for some redress.
Decent cars good initial service, but wait for the final invoice and start to fume...
Avoid like the plague.
Hiding charge the Serivce at final invoice. Mixed around the agreement for car rental service. Did not provide what I have paid for and wasted time to do business with this company.
Melody the rep at the pittsburgh airport was so helpful and kind. The orignal car i rented something was broken i brought it back she gave me a upgrade,i didnt even ask which was so nice. Its people like her that would make me rent again from your company. Please do sthg nice for her she deserves it.

Worst experience ever - they gave me the wrong car and it was extensively damaged before I took it. Big mistake with these guys, they will try to ding you for damages on a car that is already extensively damaged. Plus, the car did not have the correct emissions stickers required in many areas of Europe.
Then, they try to charge your credit card for all these things without obtaining prior approval.
Steer clear of them. I have rented from all the other firms and never had such issues ever. I could go on about their terrible customer service but I won't.
If you rent from these guys, make sure you take extensive pics of all panels and underneath the front bumper and the interior too. Even then, don't be surprised...

My husband was hospitalized and unable to travel. I provided Sixt with a medical letter and they still charged me a $168 cancel fee. It was a $260 rental. I tried to rebook instead but the cost was double the cost of starting a new rental! I won't be using this company again!
Sad to see a lot of similar reviews online, must be almost impossible to not get ripped off by this company. If you're forced to hire a vehicle from Sixt, ignore any of their claims that your existing insurance won't cover the vehicle - this is completely untrue and a scam. Hired a SixT car on Corsica and unfortunately was led on on by their dishonesty, don't expect any help or correspondence despite how many attempts you make - once the vehicle is returned they won't even bother communicating. Avoid at all costs

I have contacted several times and send and this problem is still not solved i will try for the last time i understand you a co-worker for this company and sometimes you don't want to work.But this is a big problem we are talking about more than €2000 have been extra charged on my several bookings the past year.You guys tell me all the time it has to do with my bank account but it is not!I contacted my bank they said and checked everything and sixt is the problem.I'm waiting for couple of weeks to solve this problem but none of the co-workers helped me to a good way.

So i kindly ask to solve this problem! I have the invoices and bankstatements sended earlier to sixt but u guys can also check this how much you guys overcharged me i really understand some of you co-workers are to lazy for this work at sixt but this really really a big problem if this is not solved i have to make an report by the police.
I'm a client for a long time of period i hope we can solve this problem in a good way so i can continue hire from sixt. But my hope is almost over because weeks pass by.
Conclusion of sixt overcharged to much when you bring the car back.And im always hire with 0€ risk full covered damage waiver everything insured and still they do this.

People who happend the same please contact me i need a email + story + invoices of people who have the same issues with this company this is not ok!

Sixt car rental is a scam. Don't believe on line prices or car availability. Waited an hour and 15 in line to find out. Don't use Sixt!
Answer: They don't hire enough customer service staff. After an unhappy rental with them I started reading reviews and found nothing good, Never again.
