DO NOT BOOK FROM SIXT.

I rented a car from them because they had much lower rates compared to other rentals and now I know why. When I returned the car, they faked a damage report stating that there's a "10cm+ scratch down to the primer". They then sent me a damage claim of $2090. 63 and tried to scare me into paying by saying it will go to collections if not paid in 2 weeks.

They only sent me 2 photos circling the area where the scratch is located. NOT A SINGLE DEEP SCRATCH TO BE FOUND. Looks more like swirl mark from bad car washing techniques.

There was also a class action lawsuit recently where Sixt settled to pay 11.07 million dollars for this exact scam they've been doing for over 10 years! And even then they are still doing this shady tactic.

An ex-Sixt employees also admitted on reddit that employees would receive bonuses for reporting anything that could be considered damage, and also when customers would decline all insurances because those are easy targets.

STAY AWAY FROM SIXT.

DISCRIMATORY PRACTICES
October 6, 2025

Racial Profiling and Discriminatory Treatment at Sixt Dear Sixt Customer Relations, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a serious incident of racial profiling and discriminatory treatment I experienced downtown, located at 383 Ruthven Street, Houston, Texas around April 2024, that has caused me continued retaliation till this very day. During my visit, I was treated in a disrespectful and biased manner by your staff. When I was accused of stealing a vehicle then and now yet again, after submitting / having a payment on file. It was clear that the way I was treated was based on racial bias, which is unacceptable and deeply offensive. As a paying customer, I have the right to be treated with dignity, fairness, and respect. What occurred at your location was not only unprofessional but discriminatory, and I will not allow it to go unaddressed, and the continued retaliation to not be mentioned, especially now hearing from my Bank PNC that the Company has an intentional Merchant hold on the payment, that has been submitted on October 2,2024. I am left with no other option but to express that my account is yet again under retatatilion. As a consumer I proceeded and did what was required and contacted my representatives in reference to my late payment and was made aware that Collection efforts would continue until payment was made, called in and made that payment, with a Representative on October 2,2025 and after a 90 minute phone call and relinquished payment information from my Business Checking account, which was processed and pending the release of the hold that Sixt has place on the payment themselves, to still have my account on block, while demanding the return of the vehicle with an active subscription, until October 18,2025, all while several Sixt Representatives fabricated my subscription was no longer active, while all causing a defamation to character and my business.
I am demanding a full investigation into this incident, including the names of the employees involved, and a written response from Sixt Corporate outlining what actions will be taken to address this behavior and prevent it from happening again, not only to me but anyone else. If I do not receive a satisfactory response within 10 business days, I will be escalating this matter further — including filing complaints with the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, the Better Business Bureau, and relevant consumer protection agencies. I am also prepared to make this experience public through Houston Channel 13 News team if necessary.
Please confirm receipt of this complaint immediately. Sincerely,
Racheal Wiltz
CEO of H Town Corporate Accountant and Associates Inc.
Active Rental Agreement #*******099
Respectfully, H Town Corporate Accountant & Associates Inc. Isaiah 48:17 Thus says the Lord your Redeemer, The Holy one of Israel: " I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, Who leads you the way you should go.

Scammers! NEVER again
July 11, 2025

We rented a car in Milan and were lied to about the rental rate. We were charged 3x the agreed upon amount. We rented a second a car and returned it to Rome and were contacted a month later about a scratch that we did not do! They lied and charged our cc an additional $500! And turned us into collections for nonpayment. Nobody will answer the phone or emails! I even emailed the main headquarters with no luck! TOTAL SCAM!

PLEASE never use their services!
I ordered Toyota, came there and they gave me Folkswagen Jetta -- a terrible car with a weak AC (this part was a very important!)
Unfortunately, the first day I got a rock from the truck on a windshield. I believe that a normal car (like Toyota) would tolerate it, but in this case, they have must replace the windshield. OK! I would pay for the fixing... but!
Instead of sending me an invoice they transferred it to some third party which after 6 months sent me "Subrogation letter" calling me a debtor, and, for some reason, I have to pay additional 50 dollars for devils knows what.

Reserved a BMW X-3 at the Boston airport location with Philadelphia drop off. Arrived and was offered a BMW 5 series at a reduced price. Declined and was then told the X-5 could not go to Philly and provided the BMW 5 series at the same rate as the X-5 (tricky rather than honest). While driving the vehicle electronics reported the engine oil was over filled. Contacted customer service and got permission to take the car to an oil change service. Discovered the engine had 10 qts of oil. This took a morning out of our vacation, and we paid the cost and was promised reimbursement. Told we would receive an adjustment on the bill because of the inconvenience. After drop off received an invoice with a discount, two days later received a second invoice with the charge increased. Contacted the Boston supervisor and customer service and they could not explain why the invoice increase. Customer service stopped communication after the first email. Wrote to the CEO of US operations. He has not responded. A month after submitting the invoice for the out-of-pocket expense there has been no reimbursement.

These guys are jerks!
August 24, 2024

These guys are jerks! I brought a transponder from home to use for tolls during my car rental. Unbeknownst to me, the transponder had expired and was no longer working. I did not discover that until I got home. I tried to alert Sixt to the problem in advance, but they made me wait until it got into their system. Then they tried to charge me almost $30 for their "administrative fee" in paying my tolls without a working transponder. That was almost twice as much as the tolls themselves! I tried to dispute their administrative fee with my credit card company, but Sixt sent my credit card company some contract "boilerplate" that we all sign without reading, purporting to show that I had agreed to their exorbitant administrative fee. The credit card company denied my dispute. I will never rent from Sixt again, and suggest you don't either.

Never Again
July 30, 2024

I rented from SIXT in June. I paid $471 for one week. A week after the car was returned they sent a bill for $723. I went to the company who said there was a monitor with all charges on the screen in front of me. That was not true. There was no monitor anywhere. I contacted my CC company to dispute and the BBB. I also discovered SIXT is being investigated for a class action lawsuit. Don't bother with SIXT. You'll spend the higher prices anyway. You might as well pay the higher prices upfront and deal with a more reputable company.

Crowd strike refund
July 22, 2024

I booked with Sixt at about 1:00am on the night of the crowdstrike failure with a plan to pick up the car about 10 hours later. All air travel stopped the following morning so there was no way to fly to Colorado and pick up the car. They never provided the car and for all I know might have been hit by the crowdstrike problem and unable to complete the rental. I tried to cancel a few hours after the reservation was made (and they charged us the full cancellation fee and refused to reconsider). Let's hope these guys go out of business so we don't need to deal with this disrespectful customer service. Given that 2000 flights were cancelled these guys made a ton of money on cancellation fees nobody had any control over. You can bet that if they were unable to deliver the car due to the network failure they would take no responsibility.

Don't rent from Sixt,

A bunch of crooks!
September 10, 2022
Previous review

I attempted to return a vehicle at 4 AM because my flight was at 7 AM. The place was closed and did not open till 7 AM. I called customer service and was instructed to leave the vehicle at short term parking as to not miss my flight. 3 and a half months later with no call or emails of any kind I get a charge on my card for $4600! I am being accused of abandoning the vehicle. I have called and shown proof of my flight and rental agreement and all I got was the run around. DONT EVER RENT HERE! THIS PLACE IS THE WORST OF THE WORST!

The very very worst rental car company in the world… I flew into LAX last year … they would not pick us up at the airport … they said our reservation was for downtown LA, not the airport and told us to take a cab … we tried to cancel our rental … but Sixt customer service was rude and nasty … we got another car from Enterprise instead … much better … Sixt then stuck it to us and refuse to refund our money
Moral of story… don't get Stung by Sixt

Criminals
March 7, 2024

This firm are a bunch of criminals! I returned the car more than a whole day early, when handing the keys back to a SIXT employee I asked if they would check over the car and was told NO. Two days later I received an email from that stating "there is a scratch to the bonnet 10cm long and that I should fill out a 'Go to webform' to help you 'quickly resolve matters and improve our service' " at 08.20am. I did this at 10.23am and within 6 hours I got billed £850.03. They completely dismissed my response and all it done was to help them "quickly" is to bill me! The repair bill came from a company 220 miles from where the car is located in Southampton. They report that they will be taking the money out of my bank account within 7 days to cover the cost of a scratch that was NOT on the car when I returned it! The photos they sent of the car showed the car parked in a different location to where I had parked it, so clearly they have used the car during the 48 hour period between drop-off to the point of their accusation! I have responded to SIXT accusations with the above facts but they are simply not interested in the client or their view. They claim they have you banged to rights, they point you in the direction of the small print! The money they are claiming is more than I get for my pension in a whole month. I am an elderly gentleman and clearly being taken advantage of, this is disgraceful! At 71 years old I could really do without this truly stressful experience. I will not be using SIXT again and recommend anyone that if they are able to use someone else then please do so.

It really is not worth the hassle to deal with these people.
Even if you pay a little more just sue someone else. I am not saying other companies will be perfect, however you are likely to have less headaches and waste less time. Basically, in my case, they would not accept my parking ticket was cancelled and they still want to take an admin fee despite having clear proof.

Got to the counter at CVG. With a reservation. They got my credit card, all well, till they detected that I am Mexican. The clerk goes inside the office, a manager comes out and he tells me that they can't rent me the car. Because my license is no good. They had not even looked at it. I had to go to Alamo and rent a big SUV that i did not need. It took me 10 mins to do so. Shame on you Sixt!

I asked them if they can come and inspect the car they said they have not enough people,
Later they said there was a scratch and it is my fault, on my fotos there was nothing.

AVOID AT ALL COST!
December 26, 2023

HORRIBLE company. The whole business model of this company seems to be engineered around deception. When I returned the car, I wanted to see an invoice. Nope, that comes days later via email after my credit card has been billed. That way there is no face-to-face confrontations. Extra driver's fee $15/day. Never told about it at rental desk. But the kicker came 2 weeks later with a charge of $111 showed up on my credit card statement. Toll fees $21.31 Administration Fee Toll $5.00 x18=$90.00. Outrageous! I received no invoice and had to call to get one. I found no contact information anywhere on either invoice or on there website. Had to get it from my credit card statement. When I called the toll fee department, I never got through. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!

If this is the last rental car available on earth and I was fleeing an imminent tsunami and raging fire, I would still walk. If hell freezes over and I do rent from them again, I will take a detailed video upon receipt of the vehicle and when I return it another video with the agent right there to acknowledge that the car is not damaged. I'd have them swear on a bible and sign a testament in blood and then have a notary sign their statement. Then, I would have the Pope bless all of this and put the papal seal on it.

I have been ripped off twice by them. They seem to have better cars and their offices are usually nice and clean, which is why I used them. And, probably three or four times everything was reasonably pleasent. The car was nice and everything seemed pretty good.

But, I have to add to the chorus of how much of a scam they are. The first time they claimed that I damaged a tire and charged me $300. Of course I didn't damage the tire. I wrote it off as a one off and maybe something lost in translation or a shady operator given it was in Eastern Europe.

I used them a few more times off and on for a few years since the cars were pretty decent and the experience seemed nice acutally. But, they got me again with a huge scam. They claimed that I damaged two rims and charged me $1400. I never even parallel parked the car and definitely would have remembered scratching the rims.

I was a total idiot and didn't take pictures or even look the car over with the agent. This is part of their scam. They don't walk around the car and attest to what shape the car is in. They wait until you are gone and hit you up later with a BS claim.
So, do not rent from this sham of a company EVER. Consider yourself warned. If I can cost them more than $1400 from this review I will celebrate while pissing on the grave of their CEO.

You might guess that I am not a fan.

I recently rented a vehicle from Sict, expecting the high standards typically associated with Sixt. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply unsatisfactory due to several concerns regarding the vehicle's condition. Firstly, the car appeared to be nearly two decades old, which was evident from the heavily worn interior. The dashboard buttons were so eroded that their labels were indiscernible, causing confusion and potential safety risks during operation.

Additionally, the middle seat in the rear was missing a seatbelt, rendering it unusable and compromising the safety of my family. Safety concerns were further heightened when the trunk lift failed to stay open, posing a significant injury risk while unloading luggage, as it nearly slammed on my head.

The car's exterior raised further concerns. It was clear that multiple patchwork repairs had been conducted, indicated by mismatched paint across different panels. The front grill was also notably insecure, adding to the overall sense of a poorly maintained vehicle.

In summary, the condition of the car not only failed to meet my expectations for comfort and aesthetics but, more importantly, raised serious safety concerns. This experience has unfortunately shaken my confidence in Sixt, and I am compelled to reconsider future bookings with your company.

Terrbile experience
December 11, 2023

Terrible experience in Houston. They rented myself and another person a car at closing. Were rude to say the least. Then we both went to put luggage in cars and the lot attendant had left early and we had no way to get out of the garage. We were stuck! 90 minutes on hold with the pathetic customer service got us nothing but a waste of time. Had to rent from another company, Avis. Left car in lot dropped keys in drop box. Next day got bill for a 1 day rental! Absolute nightmare! Stay away from this place at all costs.
