We called about an hour before arriving to confirm availability and amenities. The receptionist, Pamala, confirmed they had vacancies and specifically stated they had an indoor heated pool. This was important to us, as my son was excited about swimming.
We booked and paid for a non-refundable room based on that information.
Upon arrival, we discovered that the pool had no water in it at all. It didn't look temporarily closed—it appeared as though it hadn't been operational for a very long time. There were no signs posted, no warning given during the phone call, and no mention of this before payment was taken.
This was extremely disappointing, especially having to explain to a child why something he was promised didn't exist. Had we been given accurate information during the call, we would have booked elsewhere.
Mistakes happen, but misrepresenting amenities before taking payment for a non-refundable room is not acceptable. Future guests should verify amenities very carefully before booking.

I stay at Del Mar Beach Hotel often & Jodie is always helpful & pleasant to talk to. I'd rather book through the front desk rather than one of the travel sites. Some of the sites offer cheaper prices but after all the fees it seems to be a wash. Plus Jodie is friendly & makes sure I get a nice room close to the parking ramp. I've been booked through Expedia before & got their double bed room that I think is their cheapest room. It had mold & I ended up having the front desk move me. I wish I would have gone through Jodie each time to prevent being stuck in that room.

Called to book a one night stay for an employee for this month's NECEPT course being held at the Penn Stater Hotel. Valentino gave me option and got me set-up with a room very quickly.
This was the first time I was instructed to enter in my card number using my mobile phone, so that is new to me and I like that feature.

I was quoted 187 for the room and she said if I prepaid now for the full amount, she could bring it down to 164 and waive the no termination fee when I got to the hotel they said they've never heard of that

Answer: Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. You may have to cancel your card and get a new card and card number, but it's worth it.
Answer: Impossible to get money back. They're just scumbags!
Answer: Yes, this company charges a fee, which it will not refund even if you cancel your reservation within minutes!

Answer: It can be, if its refundable reservation. Every reservations has a different cancelation policy. Mostly last minute reservations are not cancelable.
Answer: My experience is the same. reservations.com obviously nails a lot of unsuspecting Canadians this way. They don't make any attempt to help you out when they are confronted by this way of hosing us. Its a sleazy organization.
