Tried to book a stay at a Super 8 ive stayed out several times before... couldn't get a direct line to the hotel only to this pack of shady crooks. Made a reservation... intending to pay upon checkout like I have done my whole life at hotels... only to discover these criminals had gone ahead and charged the full amount without my permission. And didn't even send me a confirmation email. I WILL NEVER STAY AT ANY SUPER 8 EVER AGAIN NOW THAT THEY ARE USING THIS SCAM COMPANY AS THEIR BOOKING AGENT.
I booked a room on 3/6/18. I hit the reserve button on a room rate of 229 US dollars for one night, filled out all my info and CC number and hit submit. Their confirmation email boosted the room rate to 279.39 dollars. This DOES NOT include the 14.99 fee and taxes also charged. Final total of my supposed 229 per night rate was 355.98 dollars. Immediately sent customer support a screen shot of the 229 dollar posted rate on their site and they didnt care. THIS COMPANY IS COMPLETELY DECEITFUL! DO NOT USE THEM!
Don't ever use them. Can not change, charges double, non refundable, pretends to be the hotel, can't cancel even if you call 1 minute later the hotel itself crown plaza in Danbury can't help says it's the websites policy, when called. And the site says it's the hotels policy. It's a big rip off scam and should be prosecuted
They are scammers. They take your credit card info & the use other booking sites to book your stay & then it is WEB & LAYERS to get your card credited. I am going to HOUND them to the ends of the EARTH & I am getting my credit DIRECTLY from my credit card company. File a FRAUD investigation against them! They also try to keep the $14.99 fee if you cancel, even though they don't disclose it.
I search a hotel in my same Canadian province. The website came up as if it was the hotels. Identical. I booked it as if it were there booking agent. After my trip I got the invoice and it was in USD funds I contacted them and told them I was in Canada and the hotel was in the same province. How can I pay US funds when I booked in Canada. They said that's just the way we do it. When I asked to talk with the supervisor. They hung up. A 2 night stay of 160.00 $ turned into a 320.00$ stay.
So sad, how can you do business like that.
Not returning. Stay away
Rip off, scam, crooks.
Don't tell you the details. Once they have their credit card number, you are doomed. No turning back. Their investigation takes 5 -7 business days. Which I don't know what it means. I am going to tell anyone and everyone I know to stay away from them.
If I could give zero stars, I would. I WOULD STAY AWAY!
First of all, the site is designed to make it look like you are booking directly through the hotel, when in fact you are booking through this random US company. Look at all the reviews online and you'll see that this is a common complaint.
Secondly, the company says that their policy is to not charge a cancellation fee, and yet I was charged $14.99 US. The fee is disguised as company fee, but the company is effectively just toying with words. I was effectively charged a cancellation fee of $14.99 US.
I am a Canadian and I was booking a Canadian hotel. Yet the transaction was processed in US dollars. In no universe does this make sense. The company needs to figure out a way to process in Canadian dollars or it needs to make a welcome exit from the Canadian market.
If you try to contact their online support, which they proudly advertise, you'll be met with someone who can provide almost no assistance. Instead, they tell you that you need to call their phone support. Looks to me like the hurdle of being put on hold and navigating their phone system was put in place to dissuade people from contacting them with issues.
Do Not use Reservations.com. We booked a room at a Days Inn in Cheyenne, Wyoming specifically requesting the same or similar room as we had walked in and received two weeks earlier. The reason was because it was near the pool and we were driving 6 hours and were bring the grandkids to swim there. When we arrived we discovered the pool was broken, had been for 3 days and would not be fixed for 3 more. They would not refund our money totally. After we requested the room because of the pool and they knew the pool was broken.
Went to hotel to book room and was routed to reservations.com which I assumed it was the hotel reservations. Tried to book room and they switched it to another state at a hotel by the same name. Called immediately and the refused to fix the problem. I am still dealing through credit card company trying to get resolved. This company is owned by Priceline.com.
Thought I was dealing with the actual hotel and soon as I entered my info and payment BOOM your card has been charged with all kinds of fees, total rip off. I called immediately to cancel and they tell me it will be $14.99 to cancel. I will be very aware of what I'm doing next time and will call the hotel. Then to top it off they told me it would be 10 to 15 days before I get my credit. WTF!
Reservations dot com places their app onto the hotel name so that is appears that you are applying directly to the hotel. Other res apps put their name first followed by the hotel.
I was about to book Hotel Metro in London, Canada 20 minutes ago and thus I googled in Internet and this Reservations.com popped up before the hotel's official website, making me think it's the official website of the hotel.
Because it shows that "only one room" I input my credit card number and made the reservation. However, after five minutes I realized the price is in US dollars therefore the price on Reservations.com is basically 15% more expensive than most of the other websites. I found the cancellation page and click the "Cancel" button. Then I suddenly saw two lines down the bottom of my reservation saying that the cancellation is "non-refundable". So I called the customer service, and was told that:
I can neither get my money back nor get the room booked. The only way for me to book a same hotel is to pay AGAIN!
This is ridiculous and I suspect this is how they make their money.
Please NEVER use Reservations.com! And I'm going to form a dispute from my redit card company for that.
Reservations.com is absolutely the WORST online booking agency I have EVER used. First off, I feel a little foolish, but like most of the complaints I'm seeing, I thought I was on the actual website of the hotel I was booking - my bad.
I was adding two days in front of a business trip, so my wife and I could spend some quality time in New Orleans. I didn't realize my company had already paid for one of those days - unfortunately I had already booked with Reservations.com. I called them back immediately and still today (2 weeks later) they have not refunded my money. The hotel manager has given me the confirmation number as proof that they refunded Reservations.com, but this TERRIBLE company still will not refund my money. Each time I reach out to them, they tell me something different that needs to happen i. E they need the hotel managers first and last name, they need the direct phone number, not the hotel mainline etc etc etc. I'm an executive with a company and travel a lot. These people have no idea who they are messing with. I don't care about the money, but the fact that this company is allowed to scam people out of their money like this is wrong and will be corrected.
I write this as forewarning - DO NOT BOOK WITH RESERVATIONS.COM. IT'S AN ABSOLUTE SCAM WITH THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED.
Like all the reviews I read (unfortunately, too late to help me), I agree that Reservations.com is essentially a scam and should be avoided at all costs. First, they told me that I would get the same rate as what I saw on the hotel's website. I reserved for one night and when I got my email confirmation, I was LIVID! They charged me a different rate in US dollars (I am Canadian and booked a hotel in Canada) and added fees and service charges which essentially meant I paid $60 more for the the room for the night. When I called to complain, I got no traction. They told me to talk to the manager of the hotel, which I did. He was a great guy and very sympathetic to my plight, and told me I was ripped off but there was nothing they themselves could do except support my case. Reservations.com then sent me an email saying the situation was resolved and I was getting a refund of $2.99! They are the biggest thieves and scam artists I have ever come across in the hotel industry. Avoid them at all costs!
We just fell victim to this shady site and its small print as well with no luck from calling CS, should have just used one of the popular travel apps, lesson learned for sure.
Do not use this company to book any reservations! Total Rip off and if something happens that you have to cut your trip short you will not get your money back!
This is a VERY unscrupulous company that hacks and mask legitimate hotel websites so it appears that you are booking directly with the hotel and you are not. If any changes need to be made you find out then it was booked through a third party website and your cc has already been charged, it is non refundable and no changes can be made. I agree with other reviews they are Crooks and Liars and overall Awful!
BEWARE this is a scam organization. First, the charges are in US dollars, no matter where the hotel is. Second, there is a "service fee" that they don't warn you about. Third, the rates they advertise are not cheaper than the hotel rates - in our case they were more! Fourth, their cancellation policy makes it impossible to get a refund and rebook. Stay away.
I booked a hotel four days in advance found out my wife had to work 1 hour after I booked with them call them and told that my wife had to work would not let me out of mt reservations. Called motel they said they would let me out of the room had to call Reservations.com back and tell them that motel would let me out of room they said no would let me change to a differt date STAY AWAY FROM THIS WEBSITE!
I would give 0 if I could. I am a courier and was dispatched a delivery ten hours away. I googled hotels in the area, I found one that looked reasonable - $139 a night. I called the number, believing I was calling the hotel, but it was this company. The first guy I spoke with was nice, took my information down, and made my reservation. I got an email confirmation that only then showed USD. I am from Saskatchewan booking in Alberta and assumed it would be Canadian. I called back, but because the reservation was for tonight, they said if I cancelled I would still be charged the full amount $180 CAD & $14.99 cancellation fee. I asked to speak with a supervisor who told me that they would escalate my concern to their support team who would call the hotel and see if they would allow a refund as it was the hotels policy. They told me they would email me and assured me to keep checking my email for a resolution, which I did on my seven hour drive. No email. I get to the hotel and still nothing, I call back, I speak to the third agent of the day and explain my situation, he is immediately aggressive & rude! He said there was a note in my file to call back for 12pm the next day! I said that isn't what I was told and he was raising his voice at me and kept cutting me off telling me I booked with an American company and if I wanted to cancel, I explained I was in the parking lot and needed a place to stay and told this would be resolved today! I am now here for less than 8 hours and paying almost $200 when the rooms are advertised here for $135. I am absolutely livid!
Answer: Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. You may have to cancel your card and get a new card and card number, but it's worth it.
