I rent a car on 27/06/2017 and my reservation status became pending. After a day as the car holder did not accept my request I cancelled my reservation but rentalcars.com took all my money and did not make a refund.
They both do not provide service and take all the money. Such a dishonest way of earning money and a terrible service they have.
Keep away from them.
EDIT: After a week or so I sent complaint emails they made full refund. Still I would not use their service again, they provided a terrible experience for me in a holiday. They take money instantly and require too much hustle to make a refund that they did not have right to keep it in the first place.
Before I made my reservation for a car I called them asking about their cancelation policy. THEY TOLD ME, NO CHARGE WILL BE MADE IN CASE OF CANCELATION (Nothing about a minimum period of time or anything). I found it odd but I went through as that is what they told me.
The job which I need the car for was cancelled so I tried to proceed with the cancellation and the cancellation fee was the same amount of the reservation price.
Call them back... no answer... and after waiting 15 minutes in other to get in hold with someone through their Chat, the lovely ALICIA told me that the number I called (the one on the reservation page) don't belong to them so I have to go through and pay the full amount of the reservation when I want to cancel it.
JUST A JOKE! Won't even consider use their service in there future. Will get a bus or train next time.
Price is always cheaper, but they force you to take their overpriced insurance (insurance was twice the price of the car rental!). Even if my car Insurance and my credit card provide insurance, they refuse to waive the insurance, telling us it is mandatory in Costa Rica. Beware of this company!
They took money and took 2 weeks to return minus $25. I cancelled within a day and 2 weeks worth of rental was taken. Do not use this site. Sorry. Beware!
Pucked up a car from Alicante it was seriously damaged and not all marked on habd over sheet. We took photos. On return Was Charged £345 for damage not done by us. Photos sent to rentalcars who said we would gey money back and compo yet now they are ignoring all contact. We have used rentalcars for several trips but no more. If this is how there treat loyalty then forget them
Rental cars.com has a policy of cancelling your booking and keeping YOUR money if you do not show up within TWO hours of the time you booked your car for. This must happen all the time at airports as many flights are delayed. Even though they had my flight number and I called them when my flight had been cancelled they cancelled my booking. This is THEFT. They should be stopped from trading
Don't use this company paid in advanced and when i went to pick up car all kinds of extra charges and a 500 deposit. Called them *******620 and was told to bad should have read there agreement which i could never down load. Not even a US company. So they took my money and i never rented a car. When I attempted to cancel booking there site wouldn't let me review or cancel. SHAME ON THEM
When I booked the reservation there was on price.
But at the counter I had to pay extra for insurance that I was already covered for.
I couldn't take the car without that extra cost
When I conplain at RentalCars.com about that, they don't seems caring

Got charged twice - $314 by Rentalcars and then another $520 by Europcar when picking up the car in Malaga, Spain. Despite numerous emails to Rentalcars for a refund or at least an explanation for the overcharge, did not even receive a response. An absolute shady company stealing from customers. Never booking through them again for sure
Had a long conversation with the contact centre manager. Booked a car weeks ago and was suitable size for passengers as we are all tall. The booking had been changed to a vehicle that was much smaller. I had by chance called the contact centre the day before and guess what. They could not amend the booking. After being on the phone for almost an hour, listening to apology after apology, the suggestion was to cancel the booking and book with somebody else. You can guess my response which had outlined the fact that any booking even a tiny moped would be more expensive than the booking that I had done ages ago. The contact manager then suggested that I book externally and pay the premium price quoted for a BMW that I had originally booked, then pursue a complaint seeking compensation for the value of the rental. The contact manager had said this was not guaranteed. Enlightened with the options that were presented I suggested as they admitted they were at fault that they should pay the difference on vehicles that are still advertised on their search results. Im sure you can see the manager was trying to be extremely helpful with the response "are you willing to pay the difference?" That pretty much sums up the customer service. Rentalcars are cheap but you get what you pay for. A completely botched up booking which they make you pay an absurd rate for due to their incompetence. Looking at the rest of the reviews I wish I was unique, but alas Im just another number.
Spent an hour on the telephone and requested the contact centre manager to listen to the original booking conversation (as all calls are recorded for quality and training purposes) Unfortunately I get a call back 10 minutes later advising myself that they can not access the call. This was on a Saturday evening before the morning of my flight. Cavalier attitude as they gave me the impression that their social life comes before the customer.
The customer service is borderline comical with their incompetence.
Like I said cheap, however you get what you pay for. Wish there was someway I got paid for wasting my time booking and time spent to amend to no avail.
They got my rental days wrong overcharged me $260+ the rental place issued a refund for unused days since I gave them 4 day notice about a correct return day, rentalcars.com just keeped the refund stating that since there papers stated the return on the 5th of may they charged me till 5th of may when it should have been 27th of april. Ref#*******
I prepaid for a rental car online and was suppose to pick up the car at the rental place by Orlando international airport. I arrive give them my bank card and identification. The lady asked me if I had insurance because I am a resident of Florida. I replied no I don't. They refused to give me the car and when I called for a refund the refused that as well. I strongly suggest no one ever uses rental cars.com should be. Con. I am going to peruse this further as I have a buddy of mine that happens to work at a news channel. So rentalcars. Scam you will hear from me again. RENTALCARS.COM ABSOLUTELY SUCKS!
Went to collect my car at Glasgow Airport. My paperwork was all good and showed full insurance. Hertz advised the info from Rental cars had no insurance. After 40 minutes on the phone was advised that the only way to get the car was to pay 288GBP extra and they would fix it afterwards as the boss was not there. As it was the only way to get the car I had no choice. Today they say they will not refund I will fight this and splash every social media site until they repay for their error. Its not Hertz fault or my fault but 100% RentalCars.con... yes con not com!

I booked a car for 15 days with my Priceline flight through their sister company RentalCars.com. I paid $297.18 in advance for a small car to be picked up at Frankfurt Airport, Germany, on April 10,2017, at the Dollar counter. The car was there, but they wanted another $175 for a navigator and about $350 for insurance for 15 days. I declined, because this is insanely overpriced compared with local rental car companies. I called RentalCars.com and was told that I will get a refund minus $59 cancellation fee. Now, on May 5,2017, I still haven't received the refund. I called RentalCars.com, and they didn't have the request for a refund in their system. The lady on the phone told me that she would start the refund process again, and perhaps in 2 weeks, it would go back to my credit card. Let's see, I'm in doubt that this will happen.
I've used Rentalcars several times on various locations, and I've recieved great service, correct pricing and delivery each time.

"Do you have a screen shot?" That is what you'll be asked for to prove anything to their customer service. I rented a SUV that had an offer of "free second driver and GPS rental" showing on the website. When I received my final booking it was not there. Customer service refused to honor the offer because I did not have a screen shot. The vehicle I had selected was no longer showing on their site. I had no "proof". Just my word. A different vehicle, much more expensive, from the same supplier did show the same offer but they still refused to change my rental. Make sure you have proof if you decide to rent from them. Bait and switch? Maybe. Bad business practices? Absolutely!
When I went to get the car, was informed they didn't have any cars available. Was told that rental car just says they have it to get you book. Doesn't matter if the company does have it or not. The car company which is in a smaller airport told us if we would have booked thru them we would have been informed it takes a day to get the car to there airport. After much waiting around and discussion, we finally got an upgrade of a car.
Hello, I booked a car online nearly 2 months before, so I went to get the car at Pisa airport couldn't get a worst treatment than what i got, first of all the not polite recepcionist told me my booking was to be cancelled in 1 hour because I haven't confirmed (what?! I booked 2 months in advance with my credit card details and from there NEVER received any communication of them asking me to confirm the booking) That happened on 9th April around 11am. So dont ruin your holidays with them.
Complete fraud - always question going with the cheapest! Better off going with well known names who don't hire fees or deposits to quote you the lowest. Please don't make the mistake we did and don't use this company! Everything about them is a show.
