Arrived at the desk to find the car company requires some additional charges not listed on the original transaction. Outrageous. Will never use them again, and spend some part of my existence prospecting this message about them.
I booked a Dollar rental from them online for $282.80, when I picked up car, Dollar's actual charge was $222.19. Rentalcars.com pocketed the $60 difference. They refused to refund the difference, saying they got me the best possible deal. Total B. S. Steer clear of this predatory outfit!
Better to avoid them, i booked a car from Rentalcars.com, the price was 85dollar when i arrived to counter they asked me to pay 145dollar and they told me that the prices are not the same, i called the support and they mentioned that the prices in theire website is only a QUOTATION :/ its crazy...
Booked a car through this broker for Palma airport. The rental company in Majorca were Drivalia. Stay away from them too. Apart from all else they are located 3K from the airport. Having paid via website we were charged a premium for arriving after 23.00 & sold under duress insurance. For a scuffy dented and scratched car with a key that only worked manually. Drivalia are one of those companies who seem to pride themselves in smug arrogance when it comes to customer service. I got a cheaper quote from Hertz at the airport on the actual day. Steer well clear.
I rented vehicle through (rentalcars) website, paying the "full Protection cover"... unfortunately car sustained windscreen damage from stone chip whilst driving on motorway. Sixt asking for GBP1300/-. Renalcars asking me to pay first and request refund... seems the wrong way to do business!
Terrible rental with Noleggiare in Italy through RentalCars.com. We booked the car from Pisa Airport and our information said we collect car at Pisa Airport. Then we travalled with family and babies to the rental car area but there was no Noleggaire. So we asked around and finally someones helped to get the phone number. Then no answer on the phone. So we went pack to the airport to try find someone. Then we finally made contact with phone and you came to meet us at airport. 3 hours later! What a waste of our valuable holiday time! Then we still had to drive to the industrial area to get the car. And finally we got a smaller car then we paid for. We paid for Renault Cleo but we got a tiny, cheap, plastic Citroen.
When we dropped off car they wanted to charge us to clean the car because I left a plastic bottle and packet in the car. I refused and removed the bottle and packet myself. Never again with Noleggiare! They are lying when they say you get the car from the airport. Other people we met also had the same problem through Ryan Air. The phone number on their car order was incorrect so they had no way of getting hold of you until we luckily met each other at airport. Wont make this mistake again and wont use RentalCars.com ever again.
I was researching renting a car in the UK and came across their site. I booked a car with my Capital one credit card that covers all the additional insurance for rental cars. I flew into Leeds Bradford airport with my confirmation in hand and proceeded to the car rental lot. Presented my drivers licence and proof that my credit card covers all additional insurance and the lady behind the counter told me that in order to rent that car I would need to provide a $18,000 £ deposit. The car was a Kia not worth near that new off the lot. The confirmation that I had said that there would be a $250 deposit. I had already paid for this so I was stuck at the airport, had to rent a car from another company at double the price because of their deceptive practises. Don't use Rentalcar.com or Eurocar as they are not honest business's...
Terrible experience, emailed with a 'total' and advised we 'may' take out additional insurance yet when we arrived to collect the car the additional insurance compulsory and 3 times that of the cost of the rental. Book direct if you are looking to save.
When you see the booking options for a car it states free cancellation within 48hrs of pick up
When you cancel within this time they charge you a cancellation fee and then say its it rental company who is charging you this not them.(£37)
Their site is misleading
Rented a car, had to cancel. The "cancellation fee" was almost as much as the car rental. Don't use this site.
I wish I read all these reviews before I rented from RentalCars.com. All reported negative information is regrettably true.
When we show up with their voucher, the prepaid amount has not been honored by Hertz and we have to pay the full price on the top of prepaid amount. For 7 months now, we are trying to get our money back from our credit card. The credit card has returned the money few time and each time those scammers from RentalCar.com tell something incomprehensible and the credit card reinstate the charge. They are in UK which I considered as a civilized country. How they manage to exist cheating left and right?
Avoid them like a plague.
A
I hired a car and paid for it. When I arrived there was no car. The booking had been canceled and I had received no notification. This caused me a lot of trouble, stress and a day off work plus the extra costs. I made many phone calls over a few weeks period and each time I had to explain the everything over and over again. After a month and all the I have been offered a discount on my future booking not even mentioning how much this discount is going to be.
Booking Reference Number:
*******: I found the sequence of the booking to be designed to take money off people, and then be quick to look for excuse not to give them their money back for service not rendered! Is this not fraud? A kind of "terms and conditions-based fraud." In my experience, they seem really interested in helping small car rental companies (who make their money by selling insurance excess protection) to get customers to use their credit cards to book vehicles. However, rentalcars.com were keen to collect initial booking fees from me with a debit card. If you dont own a credit card, which I don't, you will be forced to pay so-called insurance excess protection costing 5 times the original rental. I only realised this condition after the booking. I refused to pay for the excess protection and abandoned the rental. The sequence of the booking did not draw my attention to the need for a credit card, but of course I had already booked using a debit card. I lost my whole money, a week's rental collected in advance. I called customer service and asked them this question: With this way of booking, is it not the case that rentalcars.com are able to collect people's money (say £1000 advance payment) via a debit card, and down the line pocket this cash (non-refundable) on the basis of "it was there in our terms and conditions, that you needed a credit card to pick up the vehicle."? Is this not what is called "Advance fee fraud"? Do your directors know this? Their response was "Sorry, it is our terms and conditions which you agreed to."
My advice: NEVER use this company, as there is likely to be other Terms and conditions-based tricks, if not outright fraudulent practices. As they say, if it looks too good to be true... Its fraud. Be safe go directly to a reputable car rental company.
Hello
I wanted to write a word of warning about Rentalcars.com. I booked a car with them in Luxembourg. On the reservation I stated that I'd arrive at 7pm and I added my flight number. My flight actually arrived at 9.30pm so I was a bit later than what I'd stated.
On arrival at the rental company counter - InterRent in this case - I found that it was already closed. Apparently they close at 8pm. For all the other customers, they leave a key with the parking garage attendants and it works just fine. But there was no key for me. Apparently they either thought I was a no show (even though they had my flight number and arrival time) or they did not have enough information about me when they closed (e.g. They didn't have a copy of my voucher from Rentalcars.com).
In any case the result was that I had to rent a car from the friendly chaps at Avis that cost about 3x as much as (Eur 100 vs Eur 30).
When I explained all this very politely to both InterRent and to Rentalcars.com, each one pointed at the other and told me that because of the mismatch between my stated arrival time and the flight number, it was my fault. No refund. No apology. Nothing.
Needless to say I think it's frankly a bit ridiculous to take my money when I haven't even seen let alone driven the rental car and given that they had all the information required to leave me a key. But if they want to lose a customer for life so be it...
I'm writing this review so you can be forewarned. Think twice before choosing the cheapest option...
SCAM.
From rentals, to support to refunds to insurance is all a fraud.
The continually break the Consumer Act 2015, do not want to listen to complaints. Offer insurance which is not insurance. Even the rental car company said its a fraud.
Avoid at all costs.
They set me up with payless rental cars, a one star joke. Payless has shady business practices and way overcharged me. So I figured I could get help for the extra money I paid rentalcars.com by calling them. So I called and they said call payless. I said I did. They refused to help and did absolutely no work for their commission. A real ripoff
RENTALCARS.COM SCAMS its customers. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. They made me buy their insurance and guaranteed there were no additional insurances to be paid when picking up my car at Dublin Airport. Their rental agreement even stated that I do not need any additional insurances. I paid $15 a day for 12 days of my trip.
When I got to Dublin airport I could not leave with a car unless I paid additional insurance! I did not have enough money for a $5000 CAD deposit and so I had to pay $1100 upfront. I ended up paying 45 euros a day for 12 days. If I had not paid that then I wouldn't get the car. I was STUCK and had so many road trips planned in Ireland.
Now their customer service team is not taking responsibility for THEIR error and blaming their partners (Hertz Group and Thrifty) for their mistakes. I am definitely not backing down and have contacted their partners such as Hertz Group/Thrifty to report their misleading agreements with their customers. I am making sure that their partners are aware of their SCAMS as to not hurt their own brands.
Just book directly with Hertz, Avis, Enterprise or any other car companies. It may seem expensive but look what it has cost me in the end having to deal with this horrible horrible company.
I use the RentalCars.com to reserve two cars one in Tel Aviv (with Herz) and other in Berlin (Global). When I arrived in Tel Aviv they required further documents that I could not provide, and in the place the staff of Herz cancelled the booking, and asked me to contact RentalCars to reimburse the money. I did contact the company but they didn't return the money and I lots more the 100 euros.
The sencond rent was in Berlin with Global. When I arrived there the car I rented was not available and it was necessary to pay an upgrade for the "better" car that was there.
It is totally frustating since the RentalCar does not communicate properly with the companies and you are left by yourself when arriving a new country.
After booking, the voucher highlighted all the new extra charges I hadn't paid for and must pay for on collection - all this after agreeing with their price. On complaining they said that these extra charges (16% surcharge on the total cost because it was a Premium Location - duh, Heathrow is where I booked it and a daily Vehicle Licensing Fee) were hidden in the supplier Hertz's terms and conditions. To find these you must choose 'Important Information' and then at the page of two pages there's a further tiny print 'Terms and Conditions'. So the price you see on Rentalcars.com is NOT what you will end up paying.
This is a con - you think you're getting a discounted price, but the hidden charges make up the difference. I would rather go direct to the suppliers and not support this sort of commercial behaviour.
In total agreement with other peopl on here. Paid online, paid extra fully comp insurance, but soon as I was in office wanted £1,500 deposit and said insurance online wasn't valid.
A complete con from start to finish.
Well done Budget car rental your reputation is going to suffer massively due to these
Online criminals, will never use them or Budget ever again.
Answer: Good luck with that one, I'm in the same boat, I'm going to pass my situation on to the travel doctor at the Sunday Times.
