I booked several hotel rooms for my vacation with rakitin I have been back from that trip for over 90 days and still have not received my cash back. They said it should I've only taken 60 days so I don't know what they're doing I uploaded my receipts and still nothing. I ordered a smartphone through Samsung using the racket insight and once again I had to file a missing cashback rackets and emailed me and asked me to send them a copy of my order so I sent them my invoice and then they sent me an email saying they could take 45 days they needed to contact Samsung. I said on my invoice I don't know why they need to contact Samsung and why it will take so long oh. I know they have issues when it comes to giving people money back on big purchases. Now when I order from Walmart they will give me my $2 instantly but when it comes to hundreds of dollars, crickets.
Overall, I like Rakuten. The percentage they show for the most part is what is paid. The site is easy to use and the checks are mailed out when promised. My frustration is probably not with Rakuten, but that is who I click on to go to a site they advertise. Frequently we are not reimbursed. I copy and paste showing the shopping trip and the receipt. I'm told it was reimbursed and the date is a date prior to the order. Most recently I ordered from the same company within the same week, but realized we were in need of more dog food when we dog sat our grand dog. I sent the info twice and got the same canned message that I was reimbursed. I was then told the info would have to go to the supervisor. Then crickets...
The good outweighs the bad, but I find pinching penny's as a challenge. If you are willing to keep track of what you buy, contact them when not reimbursed and you see it as a challenge it's a great way to make money on things you would buy anyway. Read ALL the fine print for each company and then you have the knowledge to fight when necessary. It does add up, but there are flaws with some company's that don't honor the deal and Rakuten is too busy to care.
I got a referral from a friend, and later referred Rakuten to another friend. For some reason the referral and sign-up bonuses didn't show up for any of us. Diane, a member service rep, provided outstanding assistance in resolving the issues, showing ultimate professionalism and kindness. I helped my roommates make an account and make purchases through Rakuten then the next day all my 4 roommates' accounts and mine were blocked. After contacting customer service they said "Also, per our terms here: https://www.rakuten.com/help/article/terms-conditions**************

At least, once a year Rakuten takes it upon itself to monitor our account and cancel its use if they don't understand a charge. This has happened 6 times. There have never been any illegal charges on the card, jus the whim of the monitor. As a result, we have lost sale items because they were sold out before we could reinstate the card. Usually it is for a large purchase item ($2,000. Shed, $1500 matress) which I guess they don't want to pay. We have repeatedly asked that they never cancel our card, we will just pay any charge that is not legit. They always promise they will put it in our file, but it still happened.
I have been using this site for 1-2 yrs now. It's nice to get cash back for purchases you will make anyways online. The cash back are small but it adds up over time.
I had an issue with some cash back so i reached out to rakuten which was very easy and i got a response within the hour and everything was updated plus a bonus that i was unaware of their team is amazing! 10/10
I am continuously amazed by the incredible customer service from Rakuten. I've been a happy Rakuten user for years, since back when it was Ebates. I just recently had an issue with cashback not appearing in my account, and the support team was quick to respond and helped remedy the situation. I am a happy, lifelong customer and can't recommend Rakuten highly enough!

I have been using Rakuten (formerly eBates) since 2015, and I have no complaints. The earning potential has gotten better throughout the years, and the company has continued to evolve along with technology. I now shop through the Rakuten app, because to be honest, 99% of my online shopping is done on my phone. Their customer service is excellent as well. If you have an issue, it's easy to contact them, and they always respond in a timely manner. I'm very impressed, and I've recommended everyone I know to use Rakuten. It's a no-brainer for me!

Every time i shop online, for instance i want to shop on Macy's. Instead of going directly to Macy's, i would log onto rakuten and then click on Macy's. That's it! You'll see the percentages they offer at the time. It can be from 2% and there's times especially around the holidays they'll pay up to 10%. Once you complete the order you'll get a notification how much you earned from the order. They don't pay you right away. You'll get the check after each quarter. Which is fine because it's like finding that $20 under your couch when you least expect it. Each quarter i would get like $50... or so mailed to me. Depending how much i spent and if I did not return any items back.
It gives them 90 days to see if you returned your items. If you do then you don't get paid by them. All in all Rakuten is legit and I always go through them first.
I've been using Rakuten every since they were Ebates (Member since 9/15/2017) but recently when they started their referrals around the Holidays in December 2020 (you and the person that signs up, they spend $40 you get $40) I referred 4 people and I got my money but when I checked days later they took the $160 away from me, which isn't fair because those are real people with their own money that spent $40 and signed up. So I feel like Rakuten just used people to sign people up, a lot of reviews are having the same issue, no one received their referral money.
Not only are they not giving people their referral money, when you spend money, you barely get anything back, there's been times I spent $500+ and I'd just get $1 back. It's pathetic.
There's also been times where you spend your money and they don't give you your cashback and you have to email them to ask for your cashback and show them proof.
After 4 years I will be closing my account.
I joined Rakuten recently. During my sign-on process a duplicated account was mistakenly created. As a result I was denied my Welcome Bonus. Rakuten's Member Services did not ignore my request for a review. It spent the time and effort to research and verify my statement. My issue was resolved and I received my Welcome Bonus. This shows me Rakuten truly values its members.
Rakuten offered $40 for the referrer and the new member. I found out about this because I was referred by a friend. So I took advantage of this and started referring family and friends. I made two purchases through Rakuten during this time as well and accumulated a total of $122.88. I was supposed to be paid out in Feb. However, for some reason Rakuten has decided to close my account with no reason. I have reached out to them with no response. I don't think they understood how many people they would entice with this offer because halfway through they dropped the amount to $20. Rakuten saw how much they would have to pay me out and rather than being an upstanding company and pay what they agreed. Instead they just shutdown my account with no reason.
I absolutely love Rakuten! They are the best company to work with. They respond quickly and efficiently to any communication and are always a pleasure to deal with. Have been with them since they were Ebates way back in the day and am so glad that I signed up with them years and years ago.

Answer: I can't answer about the owner ripping people off. All I know is I have ordered from Rakuten numerous times and have nothing but praise for them. I haven't read the bad reviews but I've gotten nothing but good products.

Answer: If it for some reason doesn't show like it should, I contact ebates. I include a copy of the email with the information from the order placed. Normally I wait until the purchase has arrived. This gives ebates and the store to put the transaction in your account.
