Public Storage's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily due to steep and frequent price increases, inadequate customer service, and poor management responsiveness. Many customers report feeling neglected, with unresolved issues regarding billing and unit security leading to frustration. While some locations receive praise for their cleanliness and helpful staff, these positive experiences appear inconsistent. Overall, the feedback suggests a troubling trend of unprofessional practices and a lack of accountability, prompting customers to caution others about their experiences and consider alternative storage options.

Be careful people, if you rent from public storage, even if you rent even one day of the month they will charge you for the whole month and then rent the same unit to someone else getting double rent for the same unit which should be illegal, DO NOT rent from bad companies like this
I give 5 stars to the Public Storage on 7310 Grove Road, Frederick, Md. This facility is a wonderful place to secure your personal belongings. Ms. Jenn is a wonderful and dedicated property manager she goes over and beyond for her tenants all the time.
If you are looking for a clean and a safe place to store your personal treasures this is the place for you!

I highly recommend you do NOT use Public Storage. Prices are high, fees are higher. They do not tell you up front that if you move in the 4th and move out the 1st they are still charging you a full months rent for that 1 day. The office was empty and no one answered 3 out of 4 days I was there (I understand I mean they have 1 guy working there but that doesn't help when the manager hangs up on you and closes your account when you tell him you aren't willing to pay an extra full months rent when you moved out within 2 months. There are better options out there. Stay away
I am frankly shocked by the positive reviews here. Yes they have helpful on site people, but how relevant is that for a storage unit? They will increase your rent $50 (at least) every 6 months, and there is nothing you can do to stop it. I am currently paying $250 for a 5x5, and since I moved out of state I am a little screwed until I can get back there. The only solution they've provided me is to switch my unit to the unit literally next to it, and then I'll be able to pay my original $79. Horrible company policy, everyone in charge should be thrown in jail. DO NOT USE PUBLIC STORAGE
I received my monthly email to let me know that my account would be charged the fee for the storage unit. But the amount was 50 dollars higher. I called and was told that they can change the amount at anytime. At least an email telling me that would have been appropriate. I told them that I would be moving out because of the price hike and no information about it beforehand. I started to move my things out. I only have 2 tables left in there. My mom, who lives in Florida had a heart attack. I called so many times before the billing date to see if I could pay for the days that my two tables would be in there since I was with my mom. I did not receive one return call. Nothing. I called corporate and spoke to someone. She said that I had to pay the entire amount. Plus 30 dollars for a late fee. Plus, the door was broken to my unit for over two years. They kept saying that the part was on back order. For two years? Do NOT use this place. I have contacted the BBB. Surprise, I'm not the only person to have these issues with them.
As a Combat Veteran, my heart is heavy as I share my experience with Public Storage. Picture this - a year and two months of diligently paying for my storage while I battled homelessness. After four long years on the streets, I finally secured an apartment - a blessing that, ironically, left me unable to cover my storage fees.
Expecting a glimmer of understanding, I sought help from Public Storage, but to my dismay, no employee, in person or on the phone, showed an ounce of sympathy. Yesterday, on the eve of Veterans Day, my storage unit was auctioned off, and with it, I lost everything. Official paperwork, VA documents, discharge paperwork, clothes, shoes - all gone.
Even when a non-profit offered to settle my bill, willing to pay by check for proper record-keeping, the district manager turned a cold shoulder. Public Storage, it seems, only cares about your money, oblivious to your circumstances, regardless of how long you've been a loyal customer.
This heart-wrenching incident exposes Public Storage's disregard for the Veteran community, the neighborhoods they operate in, and every individual they serve. They should be celebrating a Veteran's triumph over PTSD, homelessness, and depression, not contributing to the very struggles we fought to overcome. This Veterans Day, I stand stripped of my possessions, questioning whether having a place was worth losing everything. Public Storage, in their pursuit of profit, has forgotten the human stories behind their customers.
I give them absolutely zero stars!
Happy Veterans Day
His storage is designed for you to lose your things. They can raise your rent at any time other storage raise your rent once a year this storage can raise your rent 3to4 times or more a year. They say it's because of the market but yet if you look, they have storage of the same size for cheaper rates there is nothing you can say to them for them to help you they gonna say you signed the papers. This company have no compassion for people who are going through a hard time I would suggest going to extra space storage who only raise your rent once after the Covid I lost my job and my client that let me too get this storage place with everything I have but every that let me too get this storage place I started out at $388 now I am at I started out at 388 now I am at $558 if you don't want to lose your memories, don't go to this place
Gail at the 4th plain location by the Mall is the very best! Very informative! Personality is top notch and I felt important as a client!
Thank you Gail!
Ms. Donna was amazing helping me move from one storage unit to the next and coordinated on my behalf with her management and logistics team.
I recently had a snafu at public storage and thought Public storage was at fault. I felt terrible after being frustrated and angry when it was something I did and not them. All they cared about though it all was that I was OK and that my storage unit was safe. It was not at all like I assumed. Ashley and Dorothy at St. Louis Park gave me such good customer service as I felt so badly about my mistake and blaming them. And all along they only cared about me. I just had to write about it. They are so kind and welcoming and help me in so many ways when I ask them. Thank you...
I was at my public storage today and I had spoken to the lady who works in the office and I said can we get some rubber seals for the bottom of the doors of the storage units that we rent and she goes oh I put a work order in for that a long time ago my stuff has been there over 3 years it's all dirty dust
This company has 1/5 stars on BBB, 2 stars on Yelp and worse on others. I have no idea why this site is so astroturfed but there you go. Please read reviews elsewhere as well as here.
This company will allow people to file reservations with fraudulent information and when you contact them to get them to stop and explain an account has been filing fraudulent information they just shrug and say there's nothing they can do. Meanwhile they harass you over the reservations.
In the time I was a tenant, several years, rent was raised by $130. The Horn Lake facility had a rat infestation during my time there and, upon moving out, found that the rats had eaten into every box in m unit and had destroyed a lot of my things. The top of each unit is open so rats or other vermin can move from unit to unit. Additionally, there were rat droppings all over everything. After moving out, I was charged a $75 cleaning fee because they said there was a small sticky spot left behind on the floor. I wasn't going to leave a bad review even with the rat issue, but the cleaning charge has me seeing red. My rent was paid on-time every month. I had a 20x23 unit completely full. Loyalty means nothing to these people. I would seek your storage needs elsewhere. Save yourself a headache.
Worst place to get a storage unit had a tv stolen by their staff and when comfronted managment did nothing about it then when told them i want my tv back before i pay another dollar sold all my stuff crioks dont ever get a storage unit here
Well went to get a storage at 233 Newberry and Denver ma and I was greeted by a young woman I believe her name is vivian very nice young woman she was very Patient with me, need more people like her, thank give her my thanks so much.
I didn't start my rental agreement until the middle of the month, full month charged then on the first the were taking my money out by auto pay. Now i was told it was due on the first but if its not paid that day i start getting all these additional charges. My stuff is there now so im stuck but i will never recommend them or use this place again. You start getting these messages that your stuff is going to be auctioned off.
When you rent a space they never mention that they will increase your monthly fee every 6 months for about 50%! I rented a place for $230 and now it's at $450 after 6 months! They are trapping people by their first month discount and then they charge you double after 6 months! Very bad and dishonest way of doing business! I'm very disappointed!
Public Storage bought the Grayson Storage a few months ago on Grayson Hwy. There is NEVER anyone there. The gate is BROKEN because it was RAMMED and ANYONE can go in there. We have had two units there for over 10 years. We are MOVING to another SAFER facility...
The Stud manager is unprofessional! The Units are infested with Both Roaches and Spiders. The Orange insurance plan does not cover any items damaged on the premises unless there is a Fire or Flood. Please use any other Public Storage location!
