I booked a return flight Amsterdam–Alicante for 5 people via Opodo, choosing the most expensive flexible tickets and even signing up for Opodo Prime. What they don't tell you is that all changes or cancellations apply to all passengers together and only ONE change/cancellation is possible. These crucial details are buried deep in the fine print. Furthermore, after making the one change, Opodo unilaterally changed our flight on the new day from 12:00 to 17:20 and after weeks of waiting for this "internal Call Request" claimed I had "approved it over the phone" — which is false. When I asked for proof of this call, they said it I would have to submit this Call request on their site and it would take 6–8 weeks for me to receive, long after the flight! I still have not received it, 2 months after this, again empty, promise. Customer service is more than appalling: endless hold times, agents barely speak English or Dutch, and all they say is "company policy." I lost money, lot's of energy, and half a day of my trip. Advice: Always book directly with the airline — Opodo is a scam and the so-called flexibility is pure illusion.
I've had multiple terrible experiences with Opodo and especially with Opodo Prime. The "benefits" they advertise felt like false promises in my case.
1. Best Price Guarantee: I was entitled to a refund but had to spend hours on phone calls and email chains to get it. It was extremely stressful, and it genuinely felt like they tried everything possible not to pay what I was owed—though they eventually did.
2. Prime Cancellation "Guarantee": They advertised guaranteed cancellation of two flights with an 80% refund, but when I tried to use it, they refused and instead charged me a large amount for a flight change.
3. Passenger Name Change: I paid £23 for a name change and later discovered they never even contacted the airline. More wasted time and now I'm chasing a refund.
4. Customer Service: Repeatedly poor. Long waits, no updates on ongoing requests (so I always had to follow up with them), inconsistent answers depending on who you speak to, and multiple instances where it felt like they were trying to avoid providing the services they promise to Prime customers.
This whole experience has wasted so much of my time and caused needless stress. Based on my experiences, I strongly recommend avoiding Opodo.
I used opodo in 2024 to book flights. I did not realise I had signed up to an annual £90 fee until I saw an email reminder this year (2026). I filled in their online form two weeks ago (early Feb 2026) to claim back the fee for 2025 as I hadn't used their service - but have had no reply. Be warned! They bombard you with advertising emails so it's easy to miss the renewal email.
Plus, our flights in 2024 were delayed and opodo passed on our details to 'Air help'. This sounds benign but actually is a scam as they take 33% of refund claims! It's very easy to claim a refund from the airline directly.
In short, I found opodo unhelpful and disingenuous. If you use to book cheaper flights then cancel any subscription immediately afterwards. They're not out to help you but just want to help themselves to your money!
I booked a flight through Opodo. During the booking process, Opodo's baggage allowance screen clearly stated:
Personal item — Included
Cabin bag — Included
Checked bag — Not included
After the booking was completed, the cabin bag was not included in the issued reservation.
I contacted Opodo and supplied screenshots. I later also provided an uninterrupted screen recording reproducing the same problem: it shows the selected flight, the baggage screen stating that both a personal item and cabin bag are included, and then continues through the booking process to the final payment page.
Instead of properly investigating the issue, Opodo repeatedly sent generic template responses.
They even advised me to check the booking confirmation to see whether the baggage was included — despite the difference between the information shown before payment and the final confirmation being the entire subject of my complaint.
They then demanded a timestamped screenshot of the final payment page from the original booking. No ordinary customer would think to take screenshots of every checkout step before discovering that the final reservation contradicts what was displayed during purchase.
Their responses repeatedly ignored the evidence and suggested that I may simply have selected a different fare, while failing to explain why their own booking interface continues to display the cabin bag as "Included".
This handling appears designed to exhaust the customer rather than investigate a documented problem. I am escalating the full correspondence, screenshots and recording to the relevant European and Spanish consumer authorities.
My advice is not to rely on baggage information displayed by Opodo.
Record the entire checkout process, carefully compare the final airline confirmation, and book directly with the airline whenever possible.
They behave like a true scam, selling services that do not exist!
Just received notification from tesco credit card that opodo prime had charged me £99.99 for a travel membership that I did not want. I called the Indian call center and they told me that they could not cancel or offer a refund. The payment was pending on my credit card. They offered a 50% discount. I said that a refund was all I wanted as I had no plan to travel. I called tesco credit card and they have blocked further payment being made to opodo. I have asked they tesco bank team to request a refund. Do not use opodo as you cannot cancel. Really poor. Nothing more than thieves. I will update if I get a solution as an update Tesco credit card got me a full refund. So this is the route you must take if you want your money back
Unfortunately, while searching holidays, I ended up with Prime Membership by OPODO. They took money from my account which was big shock!
Cancellation request NOT accepted, Keep charging from my Account. There is NO WAY you can disable or STOP payment going out of your bank account. On their website, there is no any option to cancel. Keep ringing them. Automated Tape makes you feel frustrated.
Government should be strict with such misleading company to operate.
This is really the worst of travel agencies. I paid 3500 pounds for a ticket and had to make a change, because of an unforseen medical circumstance. In the app I requested the change, and was told I could make the change for 170 pounds. Very reasonable, I accepted it. Then I got an email saying actually it would be 2,000 pounds. The followed a long four days, with seven long distance calls, over and over again without being able to even accept or pay the aburd price. I would call go over what I wanted ( again and again) and I was told over and over, someone would call me back. Once someone did and they sent me a payment link. I tried three, three! Different debit and credit cards, and none would be accepted. My ¨review" "collapsed", so once again I asked for the change. This time it came back, that I would have to pay 3200 pounds. It seems to me that this is very much a scam. There was no intention of reserving until they managed to push the price to the Moon. Terrible experience. Probably the worst ever
It's the biggest scam ever. They didn't refund the money for the best price guarantee. Didn't call us, but said they call us. Then they just added a new flight without baggage and told us that we never added it. Even after we send them the proof. Then we wanted to change the flight with flex prime. Amount to pay was 0 (in the app and online) they called us and told us that we have to pay 1000.-, then 700.- and then 390.- (for the exact same flight). Which was all much more then compared to the other airlines
Opodo is the worst travel-related customer service-related experience I've ever had. This is the kind of company which takes advantage of customer's unawerness. Customer service is a parody of customer service - they are unreachable, and at the end they only copy-paste identical answers without referring to customer's request.
OPODO PRIME SCAM ALERT
Don't be fooled by the "Best Price Guarantee"! I am a Prime member and I found a cheaper public price on Agoda. Even though I sent screenshots within 24h, Opodo keeps inventing excuses to avoid paying.
First they lied about the 24h deadline, then they lied about the discount being "private" (it's a public AGODASALE available to everyone). Now they've closed their Twitter support and left Resolver just to hide from complaints.
If you don't honor your T&C and refund the 2x difference, I will continue to warn every customer on this page. Shameful business practices! #Opodo #Scam #PrimeMember #TravelScam
OK so I paid extra for a flexible flight and had to reschedule the flight. I found a new flight for the 30th of July which was significantly cheaper (almost half) of what I paid and selected it in order to book it. I've done this process many times in the past with multiple companies and it was always done automatically. In this case however I got an email according to which my request was currently in the "Processing" stage and "Please keep an eye on your phone and emails, as we may need to contact you." I thought that was a bit weird because of my past experience with other normal non-scammer companies, but maybe it was just for some extreme exceptions and not a common practice. Anyway after a while I got a phone call from Opodo call centre, informing me that the price increased and I had to pay extra! Of course at that point I was almost certain that I was dealing with a deeply unethical and immoral company but gave them the benefit of the doubt. I told the guy who called me that I was really flexible and available to travel at any of the 60 days following the initial travelling day, so all I wanted was to tell me one day with a flight fare less than or equal to the amount I already paid, so that I wouldn't pay extra and I would book that day. He told me that he would have to check day by day and he wasn't going to do that! Anyway, after getting off the phone I found a new flight for the 13th of August which was even cheaper than the previous one, way less than half of what I paid initially, to be exact €19.22 (the price is still the same btw as I am writing this!) and again attempted to book it. Again same procedure, email at the "Processing" stage saying "Please keep an eye on your phone and emails, as we may need to contact you." Indeed after a while I get a phone call from Opodo and surprise surprise…the price again increased and I had to pay extra! I think the extra amount depends on the amount you initially paid…I assume in general it is around 30-35%, that's what they asked from me and if I try to think as a thief I guess that's the sweet spot for a successful blackmail. It is like they are holding your money and blackmail you to give them some more otherwise you lose it all!
Overall my experience with these scammers was horrible! The flexible option is of course a joke and if you try to exercise it, be prepared to pay ransom for your money! In my case they were so shameless that the ransom they asked was greater than the actual price of the new ticket (that I would pay if I simply booked a new flight). My friendly advice – stay away from this company! Take care.
It à big scam and fraud opodo they have the own trick on this aplication they dont give your confirmation when you pay they dont care if you book à ticket or not they just care only they scam your money very very careful dont ever book à flight ticket or hotel book on this aplication they are very professionnels to fix your money when your try to contact them they dont reply you this oppodo fix me 700 pounds
Requesting invoice for the purchased flights, already more than two weeks, the replies on the chat and call center is always: it's on its way, check your spam, you will receive it in 24 hours. Today they said 72 hours I won't give up on my invoice but will never use Opodo again
They offered a price freeze for a £75 flight for £7.50. However, the full price of the flight is now over £150 with all kinds of extras added. I then found out that a subscription was set up without my consent and had to instruct the bank to put a block on any future transactions and had to cancel my debit card as a precaution. Please stay well away!
First of all their India based CS is one of the most appalling CS ever (but surely inexpensive for them), it took me 6 months to be issued the invoices, requested times and over. I also to asked to be confirmed that the order of our booking names was correct, I was told it was and that there would be no issues, and, of course, they were not and we had troubles. But the biggest issue is that they sell the possibility to book a seat, I used that possibility, I had to amend my return flight and requested the same seat, it was confirmed twice by their service, the last time less than 24h prior to boarding and guess what, the seat I paid for was not the one given to me.
I paid for that seat due to a chronic pain that I suffer from following a car accident, and in that very seat I can sort of deal with the issue as I can position myself with a little spare room as it is where the tail hull cause the seat arrangement to move from 3 to 2, but in another seat it becomes impossible, it was a long haul flight almost 15h inbound and 14h outbound, I picked the days accordingly to the availability of that very seat, had I known that my return flight did not secure that seat I would have changed to a date that did. My biggest issue is that they lied, they did not give a second thought, I asked for a confirmed and they wrote it down, only after the return flight and the pain and the tiredness was I given a number of BS excuses in the shape of 1 - The seat has never been confirmed on the first place 2 - You did not request the seat upon making your flight change 3 - Airlines may not give you what you asked for 4 - Booking system may not allow for such a change But not a single time, we are sorry for lying to you I was open to a lot of thing, not asking for a full refund (since the inbound flight was ok), I just expected a gesture, a credit note, a discount of some sort that would have acknowledge not only their total lack of professionalism (lying is kinda big especially when you have screenshots proves of it) and a consideration of the ordeal that was the return flight.
The price was not even a fantastic bargain, but it enabled me to book for my other family member more easily as we made a 7pax family trip
I work for a leader in the food tours, we have 65 worldwide cities, we used to recommend Opodo to our clients, well they did not make a single effort into even remotely trying to solve the issue...now they lost us
I purchased a Ryanair ticket via Opodo but they use a virtual email address for the booking which Opodo and Ryanair don't tell you. When you come to check in online none of your own email details work with the booking reference. Even after getting the virtual email address from Opodo I could not check in online. The only option then was to pay an extra £55 at the airport for a Ryanair checkin. DO NOT BOOK RYANAIR TICKETS VIA OPODO!
I have booked a car using a live chat with an agent. First the agent, after all my requirements had offered me a car for 163 eur and after I said the price offer is two times more expensive than avarage on the website he offered me a similar car for 106 eur so they really not provide the best offers for the clients! Be aware!
Then I specifically ask what is the fee for crossing the border with a renewed car and o have need informed it's 40 eur. So I asked the agent where I can read all the details of the agreement and reservation and he told me you will get all the details after making a payment! What?!?! Details of the deal after the payment… seriously?! But okey… I have a free cancellation so let's do it… After I booked and paid I got a general conditions and a direct contact to the supplier who informed me that the fee for crossing the border is 75 eur! I told him that I have been informed by Opodo is 40 eur and he just simply told me they are wrong and they made a mistake. After talking to Opodo on chat and on their phone number *******884 where the not necessarily nice lady just keep repeating that we have informed you in several emails that different terms may change and they don't take the responsibility for that. And she didn't understand that any terms haven't changed! This fee was the same from the beginning but they simply misinformed me just to "give me a nicer offer". And there is no any kind of rehabilitation from their side but they are very well trained with saying "we are very sorry and we can imagine how frustrated it's for you" so I can only imagine how much reclamations they have… Highly don't recommend to use this portal!
They will sneakily force a "free trial" and then charge you a non refundable 88usd for their "premium" membership that gives you NO discounts from what you could get on any other site, not on the flight tickets or on the price for luggage. It is actually more expensive than any other site without any membership. DON'T DOWNLOAD IT'S A SCAM
I have been charged €75 for a prime membership subscription which I never agreed or signed for. Even after cancelling the subscription right after the credit card charges, they refuse to reimburse the swindled money.
Read their reviews, they speak volumes of what they do to every single customer that books any kind of service on their website. It's outrageous! Stay away from these scammers!
Booked flights in January to attend a family wedding in Sicily on May 30th, the airline have put us on a waiting list which is no good so we have been trying to cancel the flights with Opodo and get a refund, they make it so difficult to contact them, the phone line won't accept our booking ref even though Opodo have said its correct. 5 chats with online agents result in them saying there is a technical issue as soon as i discuss a refund, 3 emails to customer service go without reply. How are these scammers still allowed to operate, they have also moved the business to Spain which makes the process all the more challenging. Please avoid
Booked flights and return leg was cancelled in May 2022. My Opodo booking status is 'refunded' but I haven't been refunded and am still pursuing £600+ in flight costs. Next step is small claims court, HQ is in Hammersmith London, although parent company eDreams HQ is in Spain. UPDATE from Opodo: 'Regarding your query, please check your email (and spam folder) as we opened a case with further information'. No you didn't Opodo - there is no email, update to my case, or refund... just the exact same automated response everyone receives. Buyer Beware!
They lied to our credit card company claiming behind our back that the transaction was made in Barcelona or / and in Euros. In reality we made a purchase in US Dollars in USA, not on any banana republic website or obscure currency. That's pure fraud. They try to grab 3% from you guys using the credit card company as a shield. Smart but dirty. Let's put these people out of business.
Avoid this company like the plague. I booked return direct flights for 2 from Newcastle to Antalya. 3 days later the airline changed the flight to indirect with stops at Birmingham causing additional 3 hours on flights. I contacted opodo and stated I was not happy with this and would like to cancel. They told me I had to get in touch with the airline to cancel myself but if the airline said I could have a full refund they would give me a full refund of £449.72. I contacted the airline the following day who agreed to cancel and full refund and sent me an email to that effect. I then contacted opodo again and sent them the email from the airline. Opodo said they would refund my full costs but it could take up to 30days. 3 days later I received an email from opodo saying they had received the refund from the airline and would issue me a refund of £377. I called them again to be told that was all they were prepared to refund me but to fill out a complaint form to have them resolve it. I filled out the form and emailed it to them yesterday and received a reply this afternoon stating they would not be refunding their charges only the airlines, I have attached their reply below and will be seeking advice from trading standards. I have never dealt with a more unscrupulous company ever.
Dear Customer,
First of all, we would like to thank you for contacting Opodo and apologize for the delay in our reply.
Your Opodo booking number: *******4651
We are sorry to hear that you had an unsatisfactory experience with us and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Regarding a refund of the service fee of your booking, we would like to remind you that, according to our general terms and conditions, the service fee is a non-refundable part of the payment.
The service fees are charged for the mediation services provided by Opodo, which are deemed to have been fulfilled upon confirmation of the booking.
As a result, we are unable to issue a refund of the fees. We hope you understand that the fees are non-refundable.
For further questions we are happy to help you.
We are at your disposal for any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Cancelled same day but Opodo took more than six weeks to refund any money and then kept £340.17.
Having looked into this further, as far as I can tell, Opodo is just a bit of a scam really. They advertise that you can book the cheapest flight tickets with them and save with Opodo. But they just appear to sell tickets with a large mark up.
Maybe when they first started as a company they had better prices but now they appear to charge about 25% + compared to booking directly.
Just avoid scam companies like this… although it can be difficult as they pay to be top of Google searchers even if you try to search for a specific airline and at first you can think that you are dealing with the airline but actually you are dealing with Opodo.
-------------------------
Later update... on pressing and pressing them further, Opodo said the money they kept split down to: - Easyjet's fee for cancellation of 49 GBP and the extra fee for booking through Opodo of 44.42 GBP (both non-refundable). Both fair enough. But there was an extra baggage fee of 246.75 GBP that Opodo added and that they won't refund.
So... if you book through Opodo and not the airline, you will be charged extra service fees (that will not be refunded if you cancel) and "additional products fees" that Opodo apply to your booking. Opodo said that any payment for hold baggage etc was a non-refundable element, even though the airline do not take the money.
Just book through the airline. Don't use Opodo. There are no up sides to using Opodo but there are plenty of reasons not to use Opodo.
Unless you really enjoy paying extra money that you may never get back and love talking to chatbots.
Flight got canceled due to covid pandemic. Over 2 years now and still didnt refund me my money even the airlines refunded the money to opodo. Every time i call they send me a confirmation email that i will get refund within 7 to 10 working days. Nothing is happening they tell you this bs bank error. We raised a request. We promise u will get the refund. Bla bla bla. Scams n liars dnt book with them.
I was trying to book with them, given I saw some good deals on flights, but they were labelled "prime", you could only get them if you were a prime member. I looked for the cost of prime membership all over their website and did not find it anywhere! I asked in the chat and the chat robot could not reply to my very simple question "what is the cost of prime?"! So you can't get the good deals unless you sign up for membership, but you can't know what that membership costs until after you purchase? (By the way, I wrote a review of that experience on Trustpilot, who replied that Opodo requested my "details", otherwise they'd remove my review. Those details comprised all my personal details. I hope this won't happen here. Besides, it's very easy to verify what I'm saying, just go to their website, and try to find out what the cost of Prime is.
Answer:Guys, it would only cost you about £40 to take them to small claims court. Dont just take the loss, these people need to be held to account. Id also contact Rip Off Britain to get a programme made about their tactics
Answer:You can complain all you like but once they have your money they dont give a tinkers cuss. Best form of complaint is social media like this site and face book.
