I had a 1 LB bottle of perfume shipped to canada and was charged 50USD shipping plus an additional 20USD (since they considered this a ‘dangerous goods'). Above this, I was charged $21 CAD for duties. 70USD shipping charges for a small item that cost less than this. Had I known before, I would not have used this service. I spoke to customer care ‘Foxy' on chat and was not able to get any clear understanding or justification as to why this was so high. Opened a case through email to see what's going on and am waiting to hear back. I will update this once I do

There are various services like MyUS.com and after perusing other similar service providers I chose them based on a variety of factors (does not mean that the comparable companies I found online are not equivalent or even better, but I selected them based on meticulous research).
The live chat support was responsive to my questions preceding and for the duration of the receiving and shipping process.
I had a bottle of perfume shipped as a Christmas gift for my wife from a large chain department store in California. The department store shipped the item to my MyUs address in Florida and then from Florida MyUs shipped the package to our home here in the Philippines.
The package arrived securely and neatly boxed to our home here in the Philippines within the designated time frame specified on their website's shipping tracker (via FedEx within 10-days).

I prdered a go pro in a box, to which there was a sticked SD card. The gopro was packed in 3 different packages whichade it weigh 2lb more than stated by the manufacturer. The SD card was forcefully detached! From the original package and sent on another 1lb package. The cost was triple the one stated using their shipping calculator. I feel I've been scammed and would never use their services.
For a declared value of 39.99$ and shipping costs of 13.99$ MyUs is charging me around 35$ for VAT. The actual VAT is actually 10.25$. Upon enquiry this is what I get:
"Since this is done by the system, we do not have a specific numerical breakdown of the percentages used. "
Meaning: do ask for details about how we are cheating you.
The way we charge VAT is based on the cost of items and the shipping cost that's charged. The fees that are charged for VAT are paid directly to customs we do not receive any profit from this.
Myus services are just wonderful with an amazing and really helpful customer services, you can purchase from annnnnything US online stores and they'll have it all packed up and sent to you no matter where you are.

I signed up to check their rates. Looked later to see that I was being billed $9.99 a month. They would not refund. I honestly am not even sure how I ended up with the premium version. I never even used their services, just wanted an estimate on shipping. Be VERY careful. SCAM ALERT.
If you sign up for our Premium trial it does list that after 30 days there is a fee of $9.99. This fee can be avoided by switching to our Single Package membership which is free or cancelling the account.
They first issue a small charge to "verify" your card. They say this will be refunded, it has not been refunded to me. More so, I cancelled my membership but they keep charging my card. They also suggested a customs charge that was way more than the actual cost. Luckily I did not accept their customs offer.
Don't use their service, they will not be fair to you.
Verification charges are always refunded. We can even provide an invoice if you request regarding the refund. As for cancellation if you requested cancellation from our team they can submit that request. Payments cannot be charged once an account is closed as the payment information is automatically removed.
This company's method is a SCAM. You are prompted to add a payment method when you sign up, that way they can automatically charge you later on, they advertise you have full control over your shipment products so you don't think anything of it, but that is FALSE. You have NO control over your shipments once their website says processing, nowhere does it say what options you would like, you can't even cancel. I expected my shipping options to come through soon for my approval. What I got was an automated shipping and billing notice that they had already billed me! Their charges are EXTORTIONATE, and you don't find out until you've already paid them! They DON'T request your approval, they bill you straight away without you approving the costs. I reached out to their customer service who refused to offer any resolution. I asked them to cancel processing my orders, I would rather have them throw away my items than charge me their ridiculous fees! Even if you cancel your automatic payments to them with Paypal, they can still keep AUTOMATICALLY CHARGING you, again with no control from me whatsoever even after cancelling my Paypal payments with them. So many UNAPPROVED charges, HIDDEN COSTS, billing WITHOUT your knowledge or approval. Customer service not willing to offer any solution. This is UNETHICAL and is a SCAM. Take it up with your credit card company or Paypal.
It appears that you signed up with our Single Package Membership. When selecting this membership it does list that packages are automatically shipped out and that payments are automatically processed. Our memberships that offer full control are our Premium memberships. Our Premium membership allows you to hold packages, view the total estimated cost, and allows you to send packages together.

We do apologize for the issue that has occurred. Our rates are based on the weight of the shipment not the cost of the item in the shipment. You can always use our ship rate calculator or you can reach out to our customer service team who would gladly provide you with an estimate.
It was relatively easy to buy a product from myus shopping browser extension with the click of a button. Unfortunately my Walmart order (high demand product) got cancelled. I contacted customer care to talk about refund and the customer support agent Jason was quick to respond to my messages and take necessary action. I am impressed by their service and would highly recommend myus simply for their service efficiency and shopping convenience alone.

I give up on these guys. There's more competition now, there are much better people to work with. I used them having no other option for a few years, but I'm over their theft. They add weight to parcels over and over again, and inflate the value. 5 and 7 lb packages that should have cost $30-45 often get charged at $70-80. Customer service brushes you off and acts like you're an idiot, then requires you to PAY for an inspection if you say something is wrong. Doesn't matter if you have proof from the original shipper. I'm just exhausted by their lies. Look at one of the newer competitors if you have time to do some research. These guys are not worth the stress.

MyUS presented me with different prices based on the delivery time. I've chosen an expensive one to have my items delivered fast (within 2 to 5 days) but it took 11 (!) days. This is inadmissible. This delivery shipment time corresponds to those of SMSA, which costs 30$ less. I requested the reimbursement of 30$ to MyUS, but was always refused with the excuse that their are not responsible for the delivery delays. How can that be?! It was MyUS who sold me the shipping service so it is MyUS who is accountable to me. I feel and was stolen by MyUS.
We have no control over our carriers shipping times or delays with customs. We can only request reimbursement from a carrier if the shipment is lost or the items are damaged.

Answer: Micaela, it all depends on the rules in Peru. I'm a MyUS customer and one of the reasons I like their service is because they give me a discount on the shipping cost, each time. There's an option in your shipping settings where you can select 'label as gift', usually customs aren't charged on gift items. Maybe you should try that once. Works for me all the time. I hope someone from MyUS will respond to your question and give you a more satisfying answer. All the best.
