I used to love Mackenzie-Childs now I don't know why I continue to order products that are so shabbily made and the majority produced in China. I ordered two products from them on their after Christmas 50% off sale. I received them today and the glitter on the wreaths banner was missing in spots which is very noticeable and the vase with enamel painting had the largest flower, that was supposed to be blue, with 3/4 of the paint missing like it had been scrubbed off or smeared. Not worth my trouble and hassle to send them back. Sounds like most people don't get their money back anyway. Just need to learn my lesson that this isn't the same company it used to be. I don't know why it's still so popular but it appears to be even with the shoddy workmanship and poor customer service. Their merchandise is way overpriced in my opinion but it really sucks when its overpriced and the quality and workmanship is less then desirable. I don't mind buying expensive products but if I'm going to pay the price I at least want it to be of excellent quality and well made.
I purchased a Mackenzie Child's whistling teakettle in late august from Williams Sonoma. About a week ago the whistle fell apart. When I was trying to put it back together I noticed the metal ring around the top is loose.
Williams Sonoma will not refund or replace because it's beyond thirty days.
Mackenzie Childs will not refund or replace because I purchased it at Williams Sonoma.
This lousy teakettle cost approximately $150. For this kind of money, hey - for any kind of money - I expect a product intended for daily use to last longer than four months.
I'm disgusted. Angry. Frustrated.
And I'll never spend a penny at either store again.
I ordered 2 weeks ago and my item has not been shipped yet! I emailed customer service twice and never gotten a response. I called them and a representative promised to email me back ASAP for an update and will make sure she gets ahold of the warehouse. I called them again 8 hours later since i never heard back from them and another customer representative told me she did not see any follow up note from the previous representative i have spoken to. I need items shipped by Christmas and this company is giving me a hassle as a first time customer! I will never order from this store again!
Ordered a present and allowed time for the item to come in based on the shipping and delivery time frame. Item never shipped within the noted timeframe. Called on 2 occasions and both CS Rep could not tell me anything other than it has not shipped yet and they do not see a date when it was going to ship. They were both rude, one even cutting me off saying there was nothing she could do and I basically just have to wait. Neither could answer why they do not follow through on shipping times for an in stock item. This company has very bad customer service and does not uphold their shipping promise. Still have not received the present and the special occasion is tomorrow. Who knows when I will ever get the package and what condition it will be in. Was thinking about starting a collection for a friend, but now will never buy from this place again. Based on the reviews I am now reading I should have never bought in the first place. Do not buy from them.
I ordered 3 salad plates for a decor. Cost 200 dollars. My birthday present. They arrived broken. They were so poorly packed by the shipping personnel. You can tell they do not care. I called complaining with the first person rude and hung up on me. I am suppose to receive a credit. No more mackenziecheap for me!
Oh i just dont know where to start. The horrible customer service started after they started growing and changed the order process. I will order something on sale or clearance and its visibly in stock, however, the processing time for orders is over 30 days. Once you place an order via credit card or paypal after 29 days they will not honor the charge. Then MacKenzie CHilds cancels the order and tells you to reorder. Well, needless to say the item is no longer available or no longer on sale and you are told you have to purchase at regular price. There is simply no longer items placed on backorder and shipped when in stock, they just cancel the entire order. The agents representing the company are horrible in knowledge and customer service. They act like they DONT WANT TO BE BOTHERED WITH YOU. This on phones and emails especially. Simply act like they dont need you as a customer at all. The loyalty program is a JOKE. I am a BLACK MEMBER and there is no special concierge service for you and there is a big hassle with any perk at all that you do get. I would say its your best bet to buy from a distributor or go directly to store. I mean as much as I love these items and products i wont buy anymore. I have found other designers just as whimsical and have superior customer service. I guess once you grow and expand you feel you have your loyal base and will just grow bigger but i assure this company that the way they handle the orders and say all year long there is 3-4 week delay in processing orders. Not shipping but processing orders. I think they are trying to get rid of some loyal customers
Bought many things with them. They all come now from india, china etc.
Customer service is extremly bad. Items always backordered. They never get a single purchase from me and if you look at their bbb and yelp reviews you see the complaints all are about similar nature
I purchased several of these very expensive teapots. My daughter noticed rust inside the teapot at the joint with the spout. She was shocked. I sent it back to Mac-Childs with a letter explaining what happened and just asking that it be fixed so she could use it. Instead of fixing or replacing this very expensive teapot, Mac-Childs just sent it back to me saying that I failed to provide a receipt so they would do nothing. Really... is there some question as to whether this very distinctive teapot came from somewhere else? So my warning to anyone looking to purchase this teapot is: YOU WILL LIKELY GET RUST INSIDE AND CANNOT USE IT. IF YOU TRY TO RETURN IT, MAC-CHILDS WILL NOT STAND BY ITS PRODUCT. I am very angry since I have at least two others with rust, and cannot use them. Thanks, Mac-Childs! I was a good, loyal customer--but no more!
The top to the butter dish I ordered did not match the bottom. I returned it about 2 weeks after their 30 day window because I had been out of town. I paid to insure and mail it. They refused to give me a refund, just a credit I could use over the phone. This was an unusable product because the purpose of buying something like this is for its appearance. If I wanted mere function I could buy one for 10% of what I paid. I was upset and the supervisor said I was yelling at her (I was not) and said she would disconnect the call. They simply did not care, at all.
If you want their products, don't buy directly from them.
Purchased a salt and pepper shaker and used it for less than a month. It started peeling. They said there was nothing they could do. Sorry. Amazon, they are not. They were very curt and suggested that I dropped it or damaged it in some way. Wow! What lousy customer service! They don't care one bit for customer satisfaction. Shabby way of doing business
Answer: I would like to find out, I like their enamelware, not Ugly pottery, but the shipping time and service is terrible.
Answer: Not possible. Ive emailed now 6 times in 3 weeks with no response.
Answer: Their whole line ---- and I have two households with lots of Mac-Ken products inside and out --- is whimsical, happy, quirky... almost unique. It is NOT quality. Never was... Their products from kitchenware to chairs are for view, not for use. There is no quality in any of it. Just recently, I paid to have their kitchen side fish chair (almost $2K) repaired, my cost, by a furniture restorer here. It's a cute piece but is NOT for daily use. We owned it only two months and are empty nesters in a pandemic --- almost no use. STill, it's not for a large person. We are not large... Their tuffet arrived with one stool leg broken. These are pieces, once only American made, now coming from nearly everywhere else. Still, whimsical if you can get them. But don't order anything that you are not willing to lose the cost. And if it does arrive intact --- a $700 lampshade arrived with its lamp missing --- take care; you may not want to use it. That's the truth. And, again, I have two houses full of merchandise. But I am buying no more... until IF this ever resolves itself. The word is the company is going to fold.
