Dislike their website as far as ordering, searching and final checkout information. I never knew whether or not my order was processed. No order #, no page saying thanks an email would be forthcoming with info, etc. And... two weeks later, still no email, no info, and I'm totally in the dark as to whether or not I'll receive an order eventually. Terribly overpriced (even sale items) and not worth the hassles. Confirmation photo below is from a purchase a couple of years ago... still waiting on more recent purchase
For many years I was a customer with Mackenzie Childs. First of all the quality of all of their merchandise is now poor. You cannot reach a customer service person by phone and I would never recommend any of their products. When I do get an email from corporate They are rude and not accommodating.
Parchment Check large ceramic platter I bought for a gift. It took forever to ship and I was so worried I wouldn't have it in time for the event so I messaged them weeks after I placed the order. Their response was vague. No commitment of a time frame just that it would ship "soon". Finally it did arrive a few days before the event broken and useless and this left me without a gift to give. This "platter" was hundreds of dollars and when I informed them it arrived very poorly wrapped and destroyed as a result of that all they could say was "we have no others in stock to replace it with- Sorry". They just didn't care. For an almost $400. Pottery platter I couldn't believe it. I am a long time buyer, have spent so much with this company over the years but that doesn't even register on their radar at all. Think twice. Don't have any regular expectations like you would with amy bottom barrel company - even Walmart. Walmart is truly a better experience and a much more dignified at customer service.
Two bird feeders for my wife on March 9,2021. All chains broke by June, They will not replace or correct the problem. We had three feeders and all chains did not last over three months.
Ever since the company sold the service level is terrible. Even to make a purchase you are told "so sorry". I had the Memorial Weekend Discount, and DID try to check out but the site wouldn't let me. I emailed three times to explain what had happened and only got "Sorry". There is no phone number to call-- they one they had for years is disconnected. I have been purchasing from them since the 1990s AND am a Loyalty member, which I will be ending. I will also be selling all my MC items on Marketplace.
We purchased a tea kettle from them and in under one year, it began to rust on the inside. When we contacted them, we were orginally told that it was MY fault for the rust! We have never had this happen with any other tea kettle. Cant help but wonder if this lousy service comes from the TOP all the way down to whomever handles the email questions. NOT good leadership for a company
The glass table top was backordered so I tried to find another vendor which was able to supply me with a tabletop within a week. I ordered at around 3pm on March 22 and cancelled the order around 3.20 pm on March 22 the same day since I was able to get it from another supplier. I got a response from Mackenzie Childs that it was processed and I had to wait for the glass table top and return it. I read their return policy and I would have to return it at my own expense. I explained that I did not want them to process a BACKORDERED item so it could not possibly be an order that was on its way to me or even processed.
So far no response.
Very disappointed in a company that I had admired from a distance for many years. But I just read all the reviews and I would say buyer beware.
My tea kettle began to rust on the inside. When I contacted customer service they said their return policy was 90 days and refused to replace the $150 kettle. Do not waste your money with this company.
I have purchased many items from their Courtly Check line. The $150 Kettle I purchased and used on special occasions started rusting. When I tried to discuss with customer service, they were unresponsive and once they finally answered - seems like a year later - they said that it sometimes happens from the moisture and that there is nothing they can do about it! Who says that about a kettle that its simple function is to boil water!?
I bought my sister the cast iron cookbook stand for Christmas this year. The item was broken when we received it. I notified MacKenzie Child on Jan. 2nd 2021. Mackenzie child will not replace it with one that is not broken. They have a lost a costumer for sure!
MacKenzie childs has beautiful products and a very high end price. They have NO customer service department so if anything is wrong you are out of luck. No one returns your emails and there is no way to remedy issues. Ordered a set of reindeer ornaments. Two were not delivered from set and one reindeer I received two of. Also the item went further on sale before I received order. No possible way to fix any of these things. Totally no response.
They have disconnected their phones, so there is no way to call, and they don't return emails asking for status updates. Two weeks later, they have not shipped my order. I just know they will blame it on the mail. This happened last year - it took a MONTH to get my stuff, and one thing was broken, obviously broken before it shipped - and they SWORE that they had made changes. Meanwhile, the gifts I ordered will be too late. This is my last order ever.
If you call the MC phone number, which is nicely left off their own website but found on my credit card site within their vendor ID, you will hear that they have closed their customer service phone center in March of 2020. Yet they continue to market and push sales of their goods without any impact on that end of their business. In short, I have received damaged items that it took several weeks to connect with them via their slowest ever response email option to get a repair piece; they are selling items that they know are not in stock on their website, not telling you that they are on backorder for MONTHS and then levying a pending charge on your credit card for each of those items they cannot fulfill WEEKLY (so that you think the item might be on its way to you). The quality of the items has gone significantly down hill over the years - most of their stuff seems to actually be made in China now, not in their "lovely farm in Aurora". Beware and stay clear as this is not the MC of old!
Ordered a MacKenzie Childs table runner in early November. Called early December to check on status. Customer Service recording said they were closed due to Covid (can't work from home?). MacKenzie Childs kept charging my bank account when the charge fell off (they sure can keep up with that). Cancelled the Order in late December and they immediately charged my bank account and sent the WRONG Order. It takes days to respond to emails. They emailed a return label and said to print it out and go to UPS to return it and THEN they will send the RIGHT order. Told them no thank you, do not want to risk Covid - that's why I shop online and cannot trust them to handle the return and shipping of the right order. Very rude and no apologies. Will not order from MacKenzie Childs again.
I ordered Christmas decorations and still haven't received them as of December 20th. I have sent multiple emails and have gotten no response. I am a frequent shopper at Mackenzie Childs and am part of the rewards program. As of today, I will never shop at Mackenzie Childs again. They do not care about their customers...
I ordered an item almost 2 weeks ago, but have yet to receive it. I have not even received a "shipped" email. I gave them the benefit, and tried calling their customer service. No answer; due to Covid the call center is closed. REALLY? No one can work from home... OK, so I used the email address they provid to their customerservice: 2 emails later, I have not even received an answer.
Conclusion: they have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!... and frankly - their items are expensive enough!...
So, don't waste your money buying from them...
I ordered two items through Mackenzie Child's website November 7th. After two weeks without the notification that they shipped I sent an email asking when they were scheduled to ship. Got a form letter back with no date. A few days later got the shipping notice for one item. Waited another week and asked when the second item would ship and asked if they could expedite it as it was a gift and got a nasty email stating that they would not be expediting any orders. A month after I placed the order I got the email the second item had shipped. They used to make all their items in the factory in Aurora now most of their items are made in China. Expensive for Chinese garbage
I can't get MacKenzie Child customer service to hear me. They only have email, no phone number. I have been trying to contact them for 6 months and they will not respond. Once they have your charge card information they will use it to charge whatever they want.
Beware!
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! Don't waste your time or money, go to Neimans if you have to have this brand, they have great service. Mackenzie-Child's is a joke
I placed on order on 11-17-20 for $254. And it has never shipped! I have contacted them over 4 times via email and they take over a week to respond and are not taking calls. All I get is we're busy! I will dispute the charges with my bank. The Patience Brewster items can be purchased elsewhere!
Answer: I would like to find out, I like their enamelware, not Ugly pottery, but the shipping time and service is terrible.
Answer: Not possible. Ive emailed now 6 times in 3 weeks with no response.
Answer: Their whole line ---- and I have two households with lots of Mac-Ken products inside and out --- is whimsical, happy, quirky... almost unique. It is NOT quality. Never was... Their products from kitchenware to chairs are for view, not for use. There is no quality in any of it. Just recently, I paid to have their kitchen side fish chair (almost $2K) repaired, my cost, by a furniture restorer here. It's a cute piece but is NOT for daily use. We owned it only two months and are empty nesters in a pandemic --- almost no use. STill, it's not for a large person. We are not large... Their tuffet arrived with one stool leg broken. These are pieces, once only American made, now coming from nearly everywhere else. Still, whimsical if you can get them. But don't order anything that you are not willing to lose the cost. And if it does arrive intact --- a $700 lampshade arrived with its lamp missing --- take care; you may not want to use it. That's the truth. And, again, I have two houses full of merchandise. But I am buying no more... until IF this ever resolves itself. The word is the company is going to fold.
