I bought online 2 Gingerbread Cookie Trees (one large and one small). The large one was like expected but unfortunately the small one doesn't have definitively the quality of the big one. The small one had no contrast between the "gingerbread cookie" and the "ice sugar". So, I ask them for an exchange and after asking me pictures they reply "Thank you for providing the photos. Our products are made from a few different vendors and therefore all will vary in coloration. The uniqueness of the products and variations is one of the things we love most about our brand". They don't have a serious quality service or no quality service at all and they explain to you when you don't have what you ordered that it is NORMAL! But SORRY when you buy something you WANT to have exactly what you see! So, they didn't accept an exchange, they didn't offer a free return! And they wrote "The only way to guarantee you get products that match your liking in the future would be to hand pick them at a retail location"!?!?!? Can you imagine a company with less concern about online costumers? The products come from China with China quality...
The reviews are all correct. The company just will not stand behind their product. I got the heart kettle ($300) for Christmas, the enamel is cracked so the spout leaks badly. I haven't even used it one time yet and they refuse to warranty it. It's bazar. Do not order from them as if something goes wrong you are out of luck 100%
Opened a box that was poor packaged with lack of Styrofoam to secure the Christmas Deer. The
Antler was broken off and loose inside the box.
Without a packing slip to return or exchange, I
Emailed customer service and was told that the first step is take a picture of proof and send to them
Then they will look at it before getting back to me.
This item was over $100 and that was the
Clearance 60% off sale price.
Just know that the items are Made in China and
The prices are 5th Avenue New York
If the item arrives poorly packaged and damaged
You won't be happy

Ordered a bird feeder in May. Inquired about shipping date. No response. It takes forever for shipping. Will never order from this company again. Lost a good customer
I just had the best experience with Mackenzie-Childs. I wanted a desk that was on sale but then dragged my feet (when it was in my basket) despite reminders from them. When I finally decided to buy it, the sale has ended. I was offered 15% discount which was almost as good as the sale. I was impatient and concerned bc of the bad reviews - but they replied immediately to my every complaining email. My desk came within 2 weeks as promised (got it today) and is beautiful. I am so glad I got it. Thank you! Mackenzie-Childs.
Do not purchase anything from them they will keeps charging you card till the items is sent out every week so they will hold your money in pending transition for weeks.
Credit cards are re-authorized for the full amount of the order, or the remaining balance, on a weekly basis, until the full order has been shipped.
Lamp came in with base pieced together. Chips and peeling paint. So disappointed in this quality! And I have tons of MKC pieces. Shipping took forever, and customer service is a joke! Just bought my last MKC! Lamp was more than $200. Home Goods and Amazon from now on! Bye MKC!
Mackenzie's policies are super irritating especially on price matching and returns.
I have purchased a product and 2 days I have received the actual product, they have announced a discount coupon. I have mentioned that I wanted price match and their answer was that we are sorry but it has been 15 days since the purchase and only if it is within the 10days they would apply the price match. I am like, it is in the firs 10 business days though. And their answer is a rigid no. Moreover, they are like, "you cannot return those items either because they were final sales". I am like, what do you mean, you cannot sell something without return policy...
But anyways, it is annoying. You pay 5 times more for the design and thinking that you are getting a design product. In the end you face a money-driven sales company rather than a customer-focused design company.
Every time I ordered an item from the actual MacKenzie's child store I've been worried. It takes forever to get here and one item I never got. It seems like their main priority is money. They don't care about the customers anymore. They don't even ship out catalogs anymore. Which is very disappointing!
I purchased my first item a courtly check mug $58 upon arrival there was what i thought was a speck of something on the inner lip so i washed it in sink and placed it in cabinet. Few weeks later i thought i would use cup for coffee and after drinking rinsed the coffee out saw a brown spot again only larger and spreading RUST - tried to contact MC customer service and emails many times - finally after months a response - their is no warranty sorry. A $58 cup has no warranty?! NO more for me
I spent over $1000 on ten items and it took over four weeks to receive items. When I complained, I was told to check the FAQ which highlights delays for barn sale items. Waiting that long was not worth the price for these items.
I can't believe how a company with such beautiful designs doesn't care one iota about the workmanship. I received a Halloween candle holder today and it came with a large paint chip and the overall painting looked as though a 3-year-old did it. The piece was over 100.00 with tax and shipping and I'm going to have to do repair work and re-paint it in areas. That's outrageous, and it's not the first MC item I've received in poor condition. Their merchandise is made in China. That should be a clue. Even some of the paint is inferior. I have a set of MC pumpkins from several years ago and the light cream-colored paint has yellowed. It's really a shame considering how unique the designs are and you can't find similar elsewhere.
I have about 30-40 pieces of Courtly Check that I bought in years past. Beautiful pieces! And, I love that the imperfections in the painting is part of their charm. However, I just purchased the tea kettle in Royal Check from the Barn Sale. I spent $140 and the quality is terrible! It looks like I painted it myself. Like someone else said, it looks like the Dollar Tree. I heard back from customer service and they said if I want to ensure that the product is to my liking, I should handpick it from a local retailer. Guess that's my last online purchase of MC. Probably my last anywhere with the poor quality issues! Very disappointing and sad!
*****Update- About a day after I posted this, I heard from a different Customer Service Representative at MC. She apparently actually looked at the pictures of the kettle that I submitted and agreed that the quality was subpar. She had the kettle picked up at no charge to me and a new one as been shipped. I feel much better about MC at this point! I brought the rating up to 3 stars because it still never should've been shipped and the first representative was not helpful at all.
The worst customer service in the world. No updates on orders. They state they will send you an email of your order but never do. I bought an item on sale for $89 and 2 days later it was $49. Sent an email asking if they will refund the difference. No answer. I like their items even though they are overpriced but their lousy customer service is really the deal breaker for me. I order from a lot of different companies and have never experience this level of incompetence..
I'm moving back to Italy and I bought a clock online hoping to bring it back with me. I discovered that it took 1 week to ship it, meaning it will arrive after my move (I calculated that with 5 - 7 days shipping days it would arrive in time. But it was 7 days shipping + 7 days wasting time). For once it's not a post office problem but COMPANY INEFFICIENCY. The customer service of course answered they couldn't do anything. YES, they could! They could have recalled my item and send another one with a dhl. They would have wasted money but they would have earned a very good review. I'm very disappointed (and, at this point I wasted money!). I will never look at their website anymore.
No delivery days, they answer you if you are not happy cancel the order. I am speechless, the force you to cancel and second time i cancel. No more orders from them
They don't deserve even 1 star;(
Rebecca Proctor dresses like the Victoria and Richard the original founders and even stole the couples name home. This is a copy cat feud impersonator of original artists. Originals are on you tube you can see by old pic and homes orf the original artist Rebecca is mimicking copying the couple down to speech dress work location. It's a white collar crime
I paid full price ($200) for a Hollyhock Birdhouse, May 2021. Enjoyed it for 2 summers & stored the birdhouse inside during winter. While in the garage, saw paint chipping on the tin top. I wrote and included a photo. The response was, 'sorry we can't help you'. For a company that prides itself on unique & high quality merchandise, it was shocking how they don't stand up for what they sell. Awful Company!
If you insist on the brand, order from Neimans or somewhere else. The customer service when going through the Mackenzie childs site is absolutely pitiful. They cant fulfill orders and don't even get me started on wedding registry. They wanted me to chase down family friends about orders... PATHETIC. NEVER AGAIN!
I am very disappointed Mackenzie-Childs will not take phone calls, only emails to communicate. I sent them an email 4 days ago and so far no response to my problem. This is not a customer focused company. It will be the last item I buy from them and will advise my friends of the same.
Answer: I would like to find out, I like their enamelware, not Ugly pottery, but the shipping time and service is terrible.
Answer: Not possible. Ive emailed now 6 times in 3 weeks with no response.
Answer: Their whole line ---- and I have two households with lots of Mac-Ken products inside and out --- is whimsical, happy, quirky... almost unique. It is NOT quality. Never was... Their products from kitchenware to chairs are for view, not for use. There is no quality in any of it. Just recently, I paid to have their kitchen side fish chair (almost $2K) repaired, my cost, by a furniture restorer here. It's a cute piece but is NOT for daily use. We owned it only two months and are empty nesters in a pandemic --- almost no use. STill, it's not for a large person. We are not large... Their tuffet arrived with one stool leg broken. These are pieces, once only American made, now coming from nearly everywhere else. Still, whimsical if you can get them. But don't order anything that you are not willing to lose the cost. And if it does arrive intact --- a $700 lampshade arrived with its lamp missing --- take care; you may not want to use it. That's the truth. And, again, I have two houses full of merchandise. But I am buying no more... until IF this ever resolves itself. The word is the company is going to fold.
