The company has garnered a predominantly negative reputation, with customers frequently citing severe issues with customer service, including long hold times, unresponsive support, and rude representatives. Many reviews highlight repeated device failures leading to additional costs and significant inconvenience, such as vehicle lockouts and battery drain. While a few customers noted initial friendliness during the setup process, this sentiment quickly dissipated post-installation, with complaints about hidden fees and lack of resolution for ongoing problems. Overall, the feedback indicates a pressing need for improvements in customer support and device reliability to enhance customer satisfaction.

Device drained my battery to the point that the device wouldn't even let me blow into.
FYI, I drive a manual car and could easily push start it. But not with this stupid thing.
Every call I've tried to make the people have no idea what they are talking about. They're all $10/hr call center employees that are not even familiar with the device, or automobiles as a whole.
I wish I would have read the reviews, steer clear of this company at all costs.
I have had the Intoxalock for 4.5 months and it killed my battery about 2 weeks ago. Be prepared to buy another battery because it totally sucked the life out of mine and I regularly used the "powersave" mode. It also takes 2-3 minutes to "warm" up in the Winter. I recommend using another IID as this one is horrible.
I got charged a lock out fee twice and I was not in the inside the car! I turn off the car and went around the car grab my lunch bag and gear out side of the car went inside my job clocked in at 10:58pm and Intoxalock said I missed two retest after 11:01pm. I had to pay an extra $79 cause I missed a retest. Customer service was no help all the man wanted to know if I was with what credit card was going to pay. Unbelievable! How is this even legal?
Got this device put on my vehicle in November and having it removed today. They told me that I needed a paper from MVD to have it removed and when I called DMV they did not have record of me even having the device on my car, so $400 for nothing. Drains my battery daily, throws false positives, and random retests every time I stop at a stop sign or traffic light. Customer service is horrific unless you're paying them. Explained situation to MVD and they are working with me to find a legitimate company that will work with me, not against me. Intoxalock is by far the WORST scam I have ever been involved with!
I was lied to from day one. I was told they are a transparent company, with no hidden fees. Lies! I can't even begin to explain the crookedness of this company. I have been locked out for nothing, more than once. My wife and I made a trip last Christmas season to do some shopping about an hour away. I drove there, obviously my car started. We shopped for 2-3 hrs and didn't eat or drink anything. I was locked out for nothing. Similar things happened over the year, like cold weather killing my battery, and being charged for not even driving. I was due to have the device removed 11/22 and because they are so slow and trying to rape you for every cent, it took an extra month to be removed. Last week when picking my son up, I blew in it for the 3-4 time in 30 minutes and breath didn't register. I was able to blow in it minutes later and passed. They know I wasn't drinking, due to the fact that it finally did go through and told me the fee for the lockout would be waived. It wasn't and I was told, it was due to previous bs lockout. I know that this is supposed to be an inconvenience, but this company is the WORST! I highly recommend going elsewhere. Last thing, I called on Monday to schedule removal and customer service put me on hold to call garage. When she came back on, she lied to me and told me, the garage didn't have time to get me in and unfortunately I had to take it in to have it calibrated on Monday and back in on Tuesday to have it removed. When I asked the guys at garage, they informed me that not only did they have time to remove it, no one from Intoxalock called. I'm sure this was a ploy to get more money from me. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. You've been warned!
All they care about is taking your money! Even when your time is up to get a nonrestrictive license they stay to get more time out of you. Even if your car is broke down in the garage they charge you if you can't make the calibration, then give you 2 hours to get calibrated. This thing has cost me over 2k so far.
I've never had an issue starting my car but I've had to pay a lockout fee several times. The fee is $75.1) My battery died. Fee!
2) I forgot to report my vehicle was being Maintenenced... Fee! 3) I used hand sanitizer and failed that test but took another test after the count down and passed several more on the way home (they have a camera in the car too)... Fee! 4) I was letting my car warn up while I used the bathroom... Fee!
I had this installed on my car in November and it has killed my car battery. You'll wait on Hold forever to get help. I'm currently at 45 minutes. This piece of crap costs $118 a month and it has rendered my car useless. Now I need a new battery. I just bought the battery last autumn. Ridiculous.
The SALES reps, on the other hand, are RIGHT on answering their phones.
They over charged me, left me with less than a dollar. Refused to refund. Only offered credit. Had to swap out their faulty equipment and told me i would be ubered back to work, the guy at the placed laughed at me and said they never do that.
It is beyond difficult to talk with anyone from this company. Every time I try to get a calibration, they send me to the wrong place. Then when you try to actually get a hold of someone, they tell you they'll call back and never do. Or you'll leave a message and they won't call back. Usually companies like this only want your money, I can't even get a hold of anyone to take my money.
I had this device literally since Saturday, Nov. 28,2020 until Dec. 1,2020! I have called many many times to complain. Haven't driven my car since Saturday when I put the device in. Wanna know why?! Cause my battery is drained! Finally recharged it this morning, only to be stranded at a store. The battery died again. Now I have to get my car towed. Please stay away from this company. I'm a voluntary account. They have discouraged me greatly from doing the right thing. I have already spent over $200 in Uber rides and a battery charger! For the rep. To tell my end bill is $109 and I only had this device less than 72 hours is beyond me!
A customer service rep set me up with an install appointment in my neighborhood at 8am. Drop my car off on time and go about my business. At 1pm I get a call from the car shop that Intoxalock never delivered their product so they still hadn't performed any service yet. Infuriated I went back to pick up my car. The next day the customer service rep proceeds to tell me that it's not their fault and now they are going to charge ME a no show fee of $50 and an additional $35 on top of the $27 I already paid for shipping!?!? This company is a scam looking to rob you, take it from me, avoid or they will take all your $$$.
I don't even know where to start with this company. They are awful. To get me to go with their product they told me they would give me a $30 rebate. Still haven't received that. They also pride themselves on only needing to be calibrated every two months, yet I've had to go every month. And now, I'm being charged $50 because I was in a rush and accidentally forgot I needed to blow into the device to start my car. So now I have a violation for "trying to start car without giving a sample" like I'd have any chance of the car starting anyways without providing a sample? It's stupid and they are greedy.
Having worked in the customer service industry as a Sr. Manager for 20+ years and for a very large international brand for the last 10... I can tell you that the culture and customer service at INTOXALOCK is, well,
TOXIC.
I have never experienced such blatantly disrespectful, and condescending service in my 40+ years on this planet. For a service representative to feel so comfortable, and emboldened to treat it's customers with this kind of behavior, it leaves me no doubt that it's coming from the highest levels of its leadership.
I'm not at all the type to complain, ask to speak to manager, and especially write a review... This might actually be my first! After having been a customer with In-TOXIC-lock for 4+ years I feel it is my responsibility, now to share how deeply disappointing my experiences have been. I feel embarrassed it has taken me until now to write and express how I have been treated by this 'company'. After reviewing YELP I can see I am far from alone!
Shame on me for continuing to give in-TOXIC-lock my business, but anyone who has been through the experience of installing equipment and balancing the government requirements, knows that it's not easy to manage, especially the costs. Changing from one company to another would be a tremendous hassle. In my honest estimation, I think that in-TOXIC-lock takes advantage of its customers because they know this. I certainly have felt abused and taken advantage of. Have you? Because most of their customers and mandated by law to have an interlock device, they feel like they get a pass on quality service. They don't! There are many other interlock providers out there that will take far better care of you.
Before I go on and on, which I easily could... ( I haven't even gone into the details of specific experiences yet!) I'll just say this:
Please trust me!
Do not work with with this 'company'!
Save yourself from the inevitable frustrations that working with this 'company' will give you.
Find ANY 'company' other than IN-TOXIC-LOCK!
I hope this review has been helpful. Thank you.
They made things sound good, $75 to start and $45 bucks every 2 week, plus discount if you pay in full! Fast forward 2 weeks it cost me 275 to start, 55 every 2 weeks plus over $300 in undisclosed fees. After confirming no camera or GPS, I now have a camera that photographs everything in my car and a GPS block that obstructs my view. Good luck hearing the thing beep while driving. They are a total scam
I have called this company 5 times this a.m. between 9 a.m. central time and 10 a.m. to obtain a refund of $37.50 for an unauthorized payment they stole when I was trying to locate the nearest company in my area. My mistake was giving the rep my credit card to store on my new account for future payments if I went with them. But, I chose not to. The rep Latasha Patterson has not returned my calls or emails because apparently, only the initial rep I spoke with who set up my account can reverse the charge. When I called today, 2 different male reps hung up on me after they asked me why I was closing my account. One actually laughed and said, "why would you do that?" Then hung up on me. To go through their telemated system takes 5 minutes plus 10 minutes of waiting on hold before someone answers. Then I was just transferred around and eventually sent to Latasha's voicemail. Now I have to call my credit card company to deal with this unauthorized charge. I never signed a lease or installed their device so what am I paying 37.50 for? Avoid this company as they charge customers cards after they obtain payment info but tell them it's only for future payments once the device is installed. No luck with obtaining a refund after spending at least 1.5 hours calling and emailing Intoxalock.
Junk, Here is the install wiring for intoxalock. It will show how to bypass. Should not be that hard.
Absolutely horrible. Kills your vehicles battery and electronic system. God forbid if you have an issue and need maintenance on your vehicle. They WILL NOT do a bypass so the mechanic can do the work. No mechanic is willing to breath into the device. Especially now with Covid going on. They have you by the short and curlies and they know it
This company is horrible! Don't even waste your time or money! They try to charge you for everything possible. Not only do you have to pay for an install, they charge you over $50 by weekly, $25 for a calibration that needs to be done every month, $75 every time you get a lockout! Then to top it all off I go to get the device removed and the company that they sent me to charged me $250 that I wasn't told about until I arrived! The worst company ever!
My local Intoxalock installer informed me that for SR22, I was REQUIRED to get my SR22 from Dairyland Insurance. I have since learned that I have a choice of SR22 providers. Intoxalock might want to review this practice of Interlock installer ( Dentons Auto Repair, 8070 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN *******).
Answer: Legit company but they have shady business practices. Very dishonest
Answer: Sale man was very pushy and I was very panicked about loosing my license. He kept calling me after I told him I would give him a call back. No one in this company wants to help you, avoid them.
Answer: As far and I am concerned any of the other 4 State approved interlock companies would have been a step up.
Answer: No. They suck. They're parasites. They're not even very good at that. They're really more battery police than making sure people don't drive drunk. They also forgot that the people with their device are the paying customers. If you are bad to those that pay your bills, they're going to stop paying you.
Answer: Must get a court release once you have the new one in place
