They suck
October 6, 2022

I had the worst experience today I didn't even do anything and my blower started giving me weird codes and then left work and my car won't start it took me over an hour to get ahold of someone on Intoxalock and she told me to take off the negative part of my battery wait a min and then it should restart it ended up killing my battery and now I'm currently stranded in a bad part of Denver and was unable to pick up my kids from daycare thank god one of my friends was able to get them and now I'm waiting for aaa and then call Intoxalock back to get my blower to work. Now i have no way to get home and it's getting dark. This is bull$#*!.

Terrible service all around, from the device to the company. Intoxalock will frequently send reminders to "unplug your device and bring it inside during cold evenings" to avoid damaging the device. However if you do unplug it, the sticker on the back or an observing employee will remind you that unplugging the device is considered "tampering," which is a felony. If you don't want a felony, or if you don't consider a 70 degree evening cold, the device will run your battery to the point that it only takes a few hours to fry a brand new battery beyond repair. In order to avoid the $80 lockout fee that comes with jumping the car/replacing the battery, they require you to call before and after maintenance. If you do exactly that, they'll charge the extra $80 anyways and say "well we don't have a record of you ever calling" when you call back a 3rd time to question the bill. Customer service can't drop the lockout charge so they'll submit a request to their higher up who's supposed to get back to you in the next 72 hours. 96 hours later you still won't have a call back and, shockingly, customer service has no record of you ever calling.
People aside, the device is ridiculous. SmartStart and several other devices will allow you to drive your car with nothing more than a warning if you blow 0.06 or below. Intoxalock fails you if you blow 0.01. I failed due to a closed container of Lysol wipes on the passenger side backseat. I failed because my passenger very briefly opened a travel size hand sanitizer. So forget shopping for any cleaning supplies. Even if you blow 0.0
Several times, then blow a 0.12 while driving because of a perfume bottle in your purse, then pass with 0.0 all within 5 minutes, you're still definitely getting the $80 lockout fee and a strike against your compliance.
Even the app is useless. Half the time I went to pay my bill I would click on the line to type in my credit card and the app would crash, or it wouldn't pull up s keyboard to let me type the numbers in.
Intoxalock takes the cake for being the only company that absolutely guarantees something will get messed up or you will get screwed over every time you interact.

This company completely sucks! Any good review you read is totally fake. This interlock has killed 2 of my car batteries, one BRAND NEW. The interlock will go off randomly WITHOUT beeping so you don't know to blow until your entire car alarm is going off. They say you have 2 minutes after you turn off the car, and you can start it without blowing. That put me in a lockout TWICE! $75! Because I started my car with 20+ seconds left on the timer. It messes with the whole car alarm I had a passenger that opened their door at the same exact time I started my car which caused my alarm to go off and would NOT stop when I blew. I MYSELF had to search up online how to fix it. They only send reminders for payments so that they're getting their money. When it's time for your lease to be up they don't send any reminders at all so you have to extend your lease and pay even more! WORST company and service I've ever received. I do not recommend this for anyone unless your rich and don't care about having problems.

If I could give zero stars I would, $#*! this company $#*! all of their bull$#*! charges worst experience I've ever had. They extort you in every way that they can and make it borderline impossible to get it out of your car. They set it up so you have to pay for an extra month lease ($120) regardless of your end date because of all the hoops they make you jump through to have it removed. I never violated a single time and they still found every way they could to charge me bull$#*! fees not to mention the $30 fee to close your account once finished. Worst experience I've ever had, not that anyone reading this will be able to go with a different company considering they bought every single one out so you can only use their devices. I'm surprised they don't have lawsuits against them for this kind of stuff, hopefully that will be happening soon. Anyways, $#*! INTOXALOCK!

Long hold times, customer care representatives who can't help. People who go mia after giving you information about what to do. Disruption of work. The device ruined my battery. Dont go with this company. Even smart start is better than them. They are trash.

Whenever you call them the customer service is the least helpful experience ever. They charge you an additional fee if your battery dies and then give you a while condescending speech about "not letting your battery die" in the middle of winter.
The next experience I had with their customer service was when I went to get my device calibrated. Their servers were down and I drove 40 miles since the closest service center was so far.
Couldn't get it calibrated on my last day allowed (right between a weekend and a holiday). They told me I was $#*! out of luck if I didn't get it done that day. No offer to postpone. Just a "good luck with that."
This company is a money grab.

What a joke. Money grubbing pigs. Very prompt to take your money. Service sucks. Not the service center but the support from Intoxalock. I have been sitting here waiting for Intoxalock support to help the service center to get intoxalots calibration equipment to caiibrate their device that I'm required to pay to keep calibrated. 2 hrs and counting. I pay $100/month. I want $100 service. Keeping the mouth piece in is another unsafe problem. Freeway speeds, time to blow and the mouth piece falls out to the floor of the vehicle. Not very safe. Not sure about percentages that experience this, but I get very light headed while blowing. I do not get light headed at. 05 BAC, in which case Utah chooses to convict people for being intoxicated. Another bunch of money grubbing Mormon pigs. Separation from church and state my $#*!.

My typical bill from them has always been bi-weekly somewhere around $60 each of the two payments this month 08/ 2020 they charge me three times when I call their billing department they were evasive and lied through their teeth about the overcharge they wouldn't credit my account so I had to go to my bank and put in for a dispute they're so dysfunctional they don't want you to talk to a live person and that person is probably told to lie so that they can get away with stealing your money they put me through to supposedly a manager and she lied also also had a lot of problems with them with setting a service appointment for calibration if you don't plan on moving then find another company that's honest I only chose them in case I had to move to another area

Horrible
August 30, 2022

My dad voluntarily went on to the toxilock. He became very ill and was on palletive care and was not able to speak or drive I tried to get them out to remove so that I could move his vehicle for ambulance when needed they would not because they needed to speak to him which he could not I get it even though frustrating. Now my dad has passed we sent death certificate but can not schedule a appointment due to they need paperwork from SOS this was voluntarily done no need for paperwork but they should know this. I also have tried their chat to find out how to return equipment so we do not have to pay the 1500. 00 they are seeking but once chat is initiated I get a response of hold on then after 15 min I get I am sorry no agents are available. We are trying to do the right thing here and very little assistance during this difficult time for us... shame on you!

Can not do anything correct. Can't send work orders properly to get work done at Intoxalock "dealer". Can't call back or do anything they say they will do in the slightest. Spent well over 30 hours on the phone with them at this point just trying to get work orders to get my truck fixed at body shop (interlock has to come out for shop). IF YOU FIND YOURSELF WITH THE OPTION OF SMARTSTART OR INTOX DO NOT USE INTOX. Company is a joke, they're time is valuable and mine is not.

This place seems like a scam. They take advantage of people who have gotten in trouble for drinking and driving by telling them they need this device whether they do or do not actually need it. They're pushy with sales. I let my fiancé use my card for the first payment. They then saved my card number & charged me after that. When I called to tell them I didn't authorize the charge, they said they understood but would not refund my account. Now, I obviously got the money back from my fiancé, but it shows they really only care about making money. The customer is definitely not their first concern. There's also hidden fees. They will give you a price on installation & then charge you to ship the device to the mechanic. They'll start charging their weekly fee before installation is even completed. All over they're pretty crummy!

Absolutely AWFUL
August 28, 2022

Yes I got a dui. Complexity my fault. 40 years of safe driving and just didnt have enough to eat one night. But this thing is beyond dangerous. It goes off non stop, the tube to blow into falls of constantly. Your left scambing in traffic and reaching for the device in dicey situations. There has to be a safer option. I mean put a camera in the car. Something to keep people from drinking while they I drive. That is the only reason I can assume it goes off every 10 minutes.

This device is not compatible for use with German cars PERIOD! They are crooks! The local service center was awesome in my home town. But the device and Intoxalock's support is horrific. The device uses too many amps to allow the car to perform correctly. It just isnt designed for foreign autos. Esp high end German vehicles though they claim it will work. It doesnt and they misrepresent themselves. DO NOT WASTE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIRS, BATTERY PURCHASES, AND TOWING BILLS... STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT... SCAM ALL THE WAY.

Not only is this device a major distraction and driving hazard going off all the time while driving, this morning my car won't start even after passing due to a recall. This has caused me to be late for work due to the Intoxalock customer service rep saying there was nothing she could do for me until my service center opened. My license is active as of today, I had previously tried calling to get this device uninstalled and was told to call back once my license was active. For how expensive this device is I shouldn't have to deal with recall messages and being told the device would need to be replaced in my car. This is supposed to be a device to get people back on the right foot not set them back. I'll make sure to continue to share my story to anyone that asks my opinion of this. Super upsetting!

The customer service is outsourced and you can't speak to anyone until you give them money. There's a fee for everything. The device kills your car battery and they charge you a fee for that. I had to use someone else's card to make a payment and they illegally put it on autopay and took hundreds of dollars without permission and their customer service department lied to me more times than I can count.
