A simple Google search reveals much more than this useless piece of $hi#, that wants to charge $2 evem for downloading in PDF format.
And then they hide all the sensitive information unless you pay again another $19.99 for what you were given to understand you had already paid for.
Why didn't I first look at the reviews, as I usually do before paying for something...?
DON'T BE CHEATED!. WALK AWAY!
I wanted to know if there was a warrant out for an individual that i know. Thought I could pay for a membership and that would be in. Not at all. After I because a member I received no information at all, only more options to pay for more information. When I did pay it still didn't release any information to me. This site is a scam.
A very professional presentation to get you to sign up telling you get everything with your "membership" but find out later each reports costs $19.95! Give you the "premium" membership instead of standard membership so how would you suspect a scam?
Initial report on myself was sparse on info and inaccurate on most of what they "found" was on google. Hopefully victims used Paypal so they can easily cancel the subscription and get a refund.
I signed up to track some MIA's from my high school class of 1987. The Instant Checkmate reports were generally out of date and contained very little information. The difference between the Instant Checkmate "Standard" and "Premium" reports was non-existent. Bottom line - avoid at all costs, you can get the same info for free. If this business is still alive in 3 years t will be a miracle.
I completed a report for myself as a quality assurance trial and found very little meaningful information. There was a picture attached to my report that is not me. I am extremely disappointed. Upon calling customer service for a refund, I was told "no, you signed up and you are obligated to pay for a month." I used the service for 10 minutes, found it to be useless and the company would not refund my money. I would recommend that others stay away.
Not only is their service completely wrong about a lot of information they "claim" to provide, they also sell your email to 2nd, 3rd and beyond advertisers, Phishers & spammers. You cannot get them to stop once you sign up with them. There are signatures coming from all over the world. If you like 30+ of these filling your filters everyday, sign up and give this fraudulent company your money...
This company uses information that is free for everyone under the information act. It overcharges and under delivers. There is a glich in the PDF function, so you are unable to download a PDF. The customer service is friendly and helpful it seems at first. But after trying to get a refund they said I could have because of the service being no where close to what we expected, the first man I spoke to told me he would process the claim, and then I called back within the hour and spoke to another woman who said the claim had not been submitted at all. I feel they tried to tell me what I wanted to hear to get me off the phone. Do yourself a favor and avoid doing business with them.
Like some of the other reviewers, I decided to pay the $1 for the 5 day trial. I searched for myself and a few family members - the info was primarily outdated, multiple people with the same name were combined, and the amount of data was very slim. If you do a google search of someone, and look at some of these type of sites without paying for any reports, you could gather all the info you get from paying for IC.
The thing that really sucks, as others have said, is that if you cancel your trial (which you need to to avoid monthly charges) you get locked out of your account, you get no confirmation, and apparently they still charge you (it hasn't been five days for me yet). One of the reasons I tried this site is because they accept paypal, so I used that. After cancelling my trial (30 minutes after starting it), then finding this site, I immediately filed a claim with paypal, and told them if they send any more of my money to IC in the future, I'll file a claim against paypal too. If I didn't have another outstanding paypal order I would have deleted all my bank account info from paypal just to be safe.
I didn't figure I'd be getting a lot from a dollar trial, but I thought it would be interesting to see what type of info would come up. The lack of information was disappointing, but the thing that really angers me is the site is run by thieves (or people who do business like thieves), at least). Don't waste your time with this BS.

Update: filing the complaint with paypal worked (hopefully). I got a message from paypal saying that "Instant Checkmate, Inc. canceled your automatic payments" and my one dollar was even refunded. I'll have to wait a few days to make sure they still don't try to charge me a monthly payment. As I said before, please stay away from this site. And probably stay away from all the other background search sites, since they seem to be (from what I've read in reviews) scam sites too.
I paid with PayPal and canceled recurring payments immediately after getting my first search. I called this company and made them send me an email confirming this fact! I found more information on Google than I did on this scam site!
I ran checks on three people I knew had criminal backgrounds and nothing showed up. The info that did populate was very basic and I could have found it online with minimal searching on my own. Some of the info wasn't even accurate. I cancelled the membership and my login no longer worked - said account inactive. Yet I still got charged the next month. Won't issue me a refund.
Cancelled my membership 3 times and still get charged every month. Now taking it to my CC company to try to handle, always apologize but never refund the charges.
One time only charge for premium & PDFs 19.99 charged 3 times when I hit button because I was not given any premium info. Cancelled subscription and charged for one month, but unable to use after I cancelled in 3 days due to false charges.
Could not even get the sex right consistently in the search. Signed up for the 'Premium' to get arrest records and it came back with nothing, even though the party being searched has and extensive criminal history going back decades. Even basic search on others did not even reveal a Face Book page. Complete rip off.
I finally got a reply from chk. Mates, in there email they gave me a terms of use and what Happens after the 1.00 charge for five days the trial service then if not cancelled you get a immediately charge to your ccrd. For 29.63 and every month thereafter unless you cancelled the service, also if you get charged and it goes back to them as insufficient funds they reserve the right to Bill you every month to the amount agreed all refunds are on a case by case basis, fortunately I was granted a 2 month complete refund and service cancelled the lady who helped me is Ericka Wills in customer service. Even though it showed that I was at fault they issued the refund GOOD LUCK
Willfully withholding vital information is the legal definition of FRAUD. Need I say more?
Oh. My own phone number is nine years old and my daughter divorced her new husband!
Info was very incomplete. Did a search on my friend to check how complete the service was. Even with the extra premium search it was very incomplete. I could find out more on Facebook. Dont waste your money
This claims to know everything which it did have some information that someone could very easily figure out by visiting my facebook profile... and it even got some of that wrong! I am 19 and it says im 20. It says i live 2 cities away from my home... this thing is not accurate... i wouldn't trust it.
Signed up for the $1 trial and cancelled immediately after 1st search. The info given to me I had already found on the web for free and within seconds. Supposedly there was more info available but that would cost $19.99. This is nothing more that a bait & switch con. Don't waste your time or money.
Signed up and discontinued service within 1 hour. Very misleading advertising and constant attempts to up sell "premium services" that were advertised to be included in the basic service. This site is a fraud.
Answer: No, you can't see anyone's call log or texts. At first it was 1.98 to receive access to the report. Then once I paid the 1.98 I selected "access report" (again) then I was promoted to select a membership Lowest being 22$. Most options tell you that you're paying that amount the same day but the cheapest membership didn't say you would be paying the same day but you are. So roughly 24$ to see what you could've found on Google. When you get to the phone log part it says "you're stuck" or some bull crap probably pay more money which is unreal as you have selected a membership already. This is a rip off there's just now around it smh
Answer: Contact your credit card company, tell them that InstantCheckmate is making unauthorized charges to your card; have your credit card company cancel your card and issue you a new one. I know, it sucks. That's what I had to do. For several months I got "declined payment" indicators listed in my online credit statement, which was good, because InstantCheckmate couldn't get their fraudulent charge to go through. The police, the FBI, or FTC or somebody needs to crack down on InstantCheckmate. I guess maybe it'll take a class action lawsuit against them. But really, the wisest thing to do is to cancel your credit card, have a new one issued -- and be extremely cautious and careful from now on to whom and where you use and give your credit card number. I know, it's a pain in the a##! Good luck. Cheers.
Answer: Absolutely not worth the money they give you incomplete answers and keep charging you for additional answers. Incorrect &/or incomplete reports. Stay far away!
Answer: Appears to be feedback manipulation on consumeraffairs.com to me. Notice all of the replies from Instant Checkmate. They had no current or correct info for me other than my childrens names, which I can find easily anyplace.
Answer: I recommend watching your credit card statement for additional charges for a few months. This company is notorious for not cancelling accounts.
