This is the email I sent them, it sums up the service pretty well...
Why would you make someone pay the $10 before telling them that all of the advertised info that they are paying for is only available for an additional fee? That isn't a background check, that is a scam. I could've gotten the $10 info from whitepages. So issue a refund.
I signed up for a 5 day trial for 1.00, but they charged me for 30.00 after 5 days. What a rip off, they should make sure you know what you are purchasing, who would do that
Takes your money from the bank right then and nothing you get
This website can't provide the most obvious information on a person. I found more just googling the persons name and then they want to argue about their disclaimer saying they are not set up to give criminal backgrounds when that is exactly what they advertise!
At first I was excited. It claimed it was free, and was instant. It was the opposite. It took me 15 min to fill out the information, and it wan't free! $%^&! It was a cool idea, but it didn't perform. :(
What a crock of crap! I spend 20 minutes with it's TIMELINE BARS over and over and over, for NOTHING at the end except "BUY ME"
FRAUD-Per Wikipedia... is deliberate deception to secure unfair or unlawful gain.
From what I read I could cancel at any time which I did within a few days of service. I did phone and cancel but they deny this. So now my credit card company is backing them?
So now we will try their email, my email and their phone number.
On October 16,2015, I was drawn to the web page advertizing Instantcheckmate.com in that I had interest to seeing what data would appear concerning myself. The data was presented in such a manner that one could assume I have an arrest record which I do not and said information was of little or no relevance. Having retired from a law enforcement agency, I was interested to see if that aspect of my career would be documented. It was not. Rather than being charged $10.91 for a one month trial subscription, I received an invoice email on Oct. 17th indicating a balance due of $45.82. I am unable to get back to the bait and switch web page; however, I was told by Megan, an operator at their phone number of *******985, that the error was at my end and I had selected the subscription rate. I will be addressing the fraud with my credit card company as well as the Better Business Bureau. I suggest others that have been taken in by this organization to also contact their credit card company and the BBB.
Additional information: Monday October 19th at the request of my credit card company, I called *******980. The personnel at that number were, I must say, very courteous and helpful. Appropriate refund was apparently authorized. I was told that the refund would take a couple of days to appear on my card statement. This I can live with.
Completely useless! Do not subscribe, they give you no info that you can't find on your own, charge a monthly fee, and then if you want the criminal report, etc... you have to pay MORE! This site is a complete scam.
These are your guys behind the non-sense they've created. And to think they're able to get rich off of FREE PUBLIC records should be criminal! These guys are living HIGH on the HOG because of people who fall for their business practices, that are not accurate by any stretch, but they're so far getting away with it
Here's your guys - how might they like their names smeared all over the place! And I intend on doing just that to these crooks!

Obviously it is a scam folks. Much like the other database companies on the web. How would they exist if they didn't ask for your money? My concern is they are asking lots of questions as they produce your report, like "are they related to the following" or "have they ever lived in this city". They are gathering info as you type it in. Easiest way to build a database without infringing on someone's right to privacy.
Anyone who gives this site better than 1 star works there and is required to by the employer. The site is garbage. Signing up only means you're a dumb-$#*!.
After going through the entire questionaire, they had me living in a city that I never lived in. Saw no reason to pay for worthless info.
Scumbags. 10 minutes of status bars and then disclose that you have to pay. I wish I could find a way to waste their time. Instant my $#*!. F*** you, InstantCheckmate.
I'm a person that does NOT believe in companies like this, but I was so intrigued in knowing about my girlfriend! And this mother$#*!ers made me pay more and more! And they won't give you $#*!! It's a damn scam! I'm calling my bank to get my $$$ back! All I saw was her birthday, address that's it! $#*!ing piece of $#*!!
I hate whey business is design to waist my time just to tell me at the and I need to pay for it. F. U Instant Checkmate!
Don't be surprised and amused by all the progress bars and endless search the webpage portrays.
Do not sign up for 1$ fee, you will end up paying more and all the hassle.
Best of all just google your name, you will find more records than what you find here
They had less information than I was able to get in a simple Google search. Laughable.
I signed up for the $1.00 'trial', for which they provided absolutely nothing, but promised that for only $19.95 I could have 'more'. When I called to cancel, one Melissa gave me a ten-minute runaround, including "We can't find your account', 'We need your credit card number again', and 'Would you mind if I put you on a brief Hold?'. They finally promised to cancel my account, and promised I would receive an email confirmation 'within 24 hours'. If I don't get that email, I'll be back here with a shotgun.
Well, guess what?! The 'within-twenty-four-hours-email-confirmation' never arrived. What a surprise! Oo ooh, how fun! Back on the phone.
This time, another, one Marilyn. Looked around, asked for all recorded information, then out me on hold. Came back to report that my account had indeed been 'closed', 'confirmed' that the closing email had been sent, and provided a 'transaction number'. Reminded me that my 'account' was still active through midnight tonight. I thanked her, reaffirmed that we would be doing no more business together, and hung up.
Five minutes later, my phone rang. I let it go to Answer, and Lo!, here's Marilyn! She wants me to call her back and 'review' my credit card number, 'for their records'. I picked up the phone, and she suddenly 'apologized' for calling, 'Sorry, misdialed, sorry to bother you'. Hung up abruptly. And all she wanted was my credit card number...
At best, it's a one-time ripoff. At worst, it's credit card fraud. Avoid. Avoid!
And go ahead, you bastards, and sue me. If you dare.
This company is a giant rip-off! You can get the info they charge you for anywhere on the net. You keep getting pop-ups that say if you want more info you have to pay more. They do not provide what they promised. Do not waste your time and money on this bogus site. Be aware. They will charge you every month. This is a giant scam!
Answer: No, you can't see anyone's call log or texts. At first it was 1.98 to receive access to the report. Then once I paid the 1.98 I selected "access report" (again) then I was promoted to select a membership Lowest being 22$. Most options tell you that you're paying that amount the same day but the cheapest membership didn't say you would be paying the same day but you are. So roughly 24$ to see what you could've found on Google. When you get to the phone log part it says "you're stuck" or some bull crap probably pay more money which is unreal as you have selected a membership already. This is a rip off there's just now around it smh
Answer: Contact your credit card company, tell them that InstantCheckmate is making unauthorized charges to your card; have your credit card company cancel your card and issue you a new one. I know, it sucks. That's what I had to do. For several months I got "declined payment" indicators listed in my online credit statement, which was good, because InstantCheckmate couldn't get their fraudulent charge to go through. The police, the FBI, or FTC or somebody needs to crack down on InstantCheckmate. I guess maybe it'll take a class action lawsuit against them. But really, the wisest thing to do is to cancel your credit card, have a new one issued -- and be extremely cautious and careful from now on to whom and where you use and give your credit card number. I know, it's a pain in the a##! Good luck. Cheers.
Answer: Absolutely not worth the money they give you incomplete answers and keep charging you for additional answers. Incorrect &/or incomplete reports. Stay far away!
Answer: Appears to be feedback manipulation on consumeraffairs.com to me. Notice all of the replies from Instant Checkmate. They had no current or correct info for me other than my childrens names, which I can find easily anyplace.
Answer: I recommend watching your credit card statement for additional charges for a few months. This company is notorious for not cancelling accounts.
