This webste is all about the initial page where enter a name and place, and the flashy interface portraying search of some database. In reality, they have no more than a phone white page has. Save your time and your money
I wish I checked here first. I wanted to see what my brand new employer was going to be seeing if they did a background check so I decided to purchase my background report from this website. I have a couple of offenses including a DUI and marijuana possession from a couple years ago and I wanted to see how it would show up. Well... I paid to find out my name and that I am a Capricorn and what my daily horoscope was. All other information was unavailable. Upon reading these other reviews about scamming money, I immediately called and cancelled my membership to avoid future charges even though I only chose the 1 month membership.
Throw away the key on this bastards, pure rip off, they have nothing, only money from sockers like you and me
Same crap as other reviewers. Nine screens telling me how shocked I am going to be with all the information they provide. Out of sheer curiosity, I paid via paypal (so I could cancel without calling) to see just what info they would provide. Surprise, surprise--unfortunately they couldn't find ANY info on the number I submitted! After nine pages of titillation they have NOTHING on the number!
Before admitting there actually was no report, the site gave me a button to get my (non-existent) report in pdf form for an additional $1.99.
Makes me vomit that Nigerian-Prince organization are able to freely operate in this country.
This website is intentionally deceptive. They waste your time with about 5-9 webpages where they pretend like they are compiling information and there's these fake progress bars. It's all just a scam to get you to think they are really taking a lot of time because they are putting together a really, really, REALLY, in depth report.
They aren't.
After wasting your time with the aforementioned progress bars which I was literally able to read a chapter out of my book while waiting for, they hit you up for your email address.
Mind you, they haven't asked for a penny at this point.
They have asked you to verify other things, however, such as your age, gender, people you might or might not be related to. It's almost as if instead of GIVING you information, they are TAKING it from you!
Sneaky. So I stopped at the email request because I have no desire to receive SPAM from these guys and all the people they will sell your email address to. Because they are that sort of scum. But I gather that my assumptions were correct and that after they secure your email address and put you on their SPAM list, they try to hit you up for some money as well. Of course you can say no at this point, but they will still be sending you the SPAM.
They probably trick a lot of people into thinking they are going to send the report for free to your email.
They aren't.
Totally bogus company with unconscionable business ethics and a total lack of moral integrity. I would never give a business like this $. 01, because they are sneaky, underhanded low life types who make money off of deception. Anyone who signs up with these guys is asking to get ripped off.
The info I obtained form this site seemed to be fine but didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. I did not verify its accuracy. I didn't remember seeing that I had to cancel after I paid a one time fee for a 1 month of service only. You MUST CALL or your will be charged each month and they will not refund your money. I couldn't find where I was told this when I signed up for the site originally and the representative could only show me where in the fine print. In any case seems too tricky to get you to pay more than you thought you were originally. Should be able to cancel right on the site or sign up for 1 month only.
How I wish I had checked this site before signing up for Checkmate. What a total worthless rip-off. After paying the initial $24.99, one is then charged an extra fee each step of the way for "premium" information. It just feels smarmy and cheap. I hope they don't make it impossible for me to cancel before the next month's automatic billing.
I registered with this company on September 1,2015. Within 2 weeks, I searched approximately 20 people for my husband's business as a law enforcement officer. On September 15,2015 my account was cancelled and a refund was issued for the entire monthly amount. I received no email, letter, or phone call as to why my account was cancelled. I contacted customer service and spoke to a very nice gentlemen who, although he took a very long time to understand what it was that I was asking him, attempted to find someone to help me. All I wanted was to find out why my account was cancelled, not by me. No one could tell me why, they just kept repeating that if I would like to open another account, I needed to use another email address and another form of payment. Why would I want to open a new account, even if I had another email address just lying around if no one could tell me why the account was cancelled in the first place? Wouldn't it just happen again? After about 25 minutes, I got extremely frustrated and told them to forget it.
I had to call several times to cancel my subscription then they still charged me for another month after it was cancelled they said you have to cancel it 30 days before the scheduled payment.
They took my credit card info and had a great time with it on a Sunday. About a month after I had bought my own report. After threatening to go to the FTC I got about 134.00 back. Then the took out another charge. That fired me up and I submitted a complaint with the
FTC # *******. I highly recommend you all do the same so they find out what a fraud company this is and shut them down.
This website is a scam. They will allow or sell to other companies or scammers your email addresses. Then, you will get hundreds of scam emails in one day. I am certain that this company is responsible. AVOID!
The info you get is very old and not very accurate. The day after I signed up I started receiving 80 plus spam mails a day.
I went on instantcheckmate.com to find info on someone that keeps calling me before I signed up and gave out my credit card info the site promised me email addresses the persons actual address etc when I signed up and forked out 1.99 off my credit card I got hardly any info all I got was a first and last name. The state that person lives in and that's it even if i paid extra for more information I still wouldn't get the extra info that the site promised I only spent 1.99 and still feel ripped off this site is very deceiving I canceled my membership immediately so I don't get charged monthly this peoples search site is a scam that gives out hardly any info about anyone
Entered some info until I realized they wanted money. I didn't care enough to actually pay so I exited the site. Ever since I have received 20+ spam emails a day. I know it was from this site because the emails are addressed to the name of the person I was trying to look up. Thanks for selling my information, Instant Checkmate.
They don't even know where I live! My address is from where I was over 5 years ago, and I am not trying to hide. I have a drivers license, attend community college and get disability in a different state altogether. This site is a joke, but not worth a penny. No relevant or even up to date info at all.
This is a despicable scam operation. For what you pay for you can find it on Facebook or in the Yellow pages unless you buy a "PREMIUM" report. Save yourself $15.00 dollars and go to your county court house if you need real information on anyone you suspect might have a criminal background.
I wish I would have read these reviews before throwing $15.00 to this scam of a company. How accurate can any background check company be when they don't even get my birthday correct? It went down hill from there. You get NO information for the $15.00, have to pay $2 to be able to print what they do provide - which is useless. Then in order to see any of the advertised data you have to pay another $19.99. Save your money - do not use this site.
Worthless: I tried to search a vehicle license plate. I paid $24 fee and got no information.
Worthless info, bait and switch pricing. Do not use this website!
Answer: No, you can't see anyone's call log or texts. At first it was 1.98 to receive access to the report. Then once I paid the 1.98 I selected "access report" (again) then I was promoted to select a membership Lowest being 22$. Most options tell you that you're paying that amount the same day but the cheapest membership didn't say you would be paying the same day but you are. So roughly 24$ to see what you could've found on Google. When you get to the phone log part it says "you're stuck" or some bull crap probably pay more money which is unreal as you have selected a membership already. This is a rip off there's just now around it smh
Answer: Contact your credit card company, tell them that InstantCheckmate is making unauthorized charges to your card; have your credit card company cancel your card and issue you a new one. I know, it sucks. That's what I had to do. For several months I got "declined payment" indicators listed in my online credit statement, which was good, because InstantCheckmate couldn't get their fraudulent charge to go through. The police, the FBI, or FTC or somebody needs to crack down on InstantCheckmate. I guess maybe it'll take a class action lawsuit against them. But really, the wisest thing to do is to cancel your credit card, have a new one issued -- and be extremely cautious and careful from now on to whom and where you use and give your credit card number. I know, it's a pain in the a##! Good luck. Cheers.
Answer: Absolutely not worth the money they give you incomplete answers and keep charging you for additional answers. Incorrect &/or incomplete reports. Stay far away!
Answer: Appears to be feedback manipulation on consumeraffairs.com to me. Notice all of the replies from Instant Checkmate. They had no current or correct info for me other than my childrens names, which I can find easily anyplace.
Answer: I recommend watching your credit card statement for additional charges for a few months. This company is notorious for not cancelling accounts.
