Process was fast and easy. The agent was nice and helpful.
Found the process of identity verification to be confusing, cumbersome and intrusive. Started the process on a laptop, then had to switch to a smart phone to take pictures, including a selfie, then had to go back to the laptop to complete the process. Took me 3 or 4 attempts to complete. Probably would have been quicker if my grandson was around to help!
I needed to access my IRS info right away and was given two options to verify my identity. Option 1 required me to wait for a pin to arrive in the mail (up to 10 days), so I went with option 2, ID.me. This was the best choice by far, as I was able to take a picture of my passport, a quick selfie, and access my documents in a matter of minutes, not days!
To start off this saga Real ID would not allow my personal computer to function with the program for it was too old for it. Thus not allowing me to actually use the product as intended, at least I hope the production team wanted to produce a useable product. I then was forced to use my local library to use the internet and even that was apparently too old for this program. I had to download new software just to use the online application. There was also no way to know what was necessary for my tasks on the application process so I had to make multiple trips to the library with different documentation and resources to even get the website to work. It would have been faster, and probably more efficient, to just mail a paper copy to the IRS and have them physically mail back rejected copies of my taxes. The program has required me to literally make this a full time jobs hours just to get the info I needed for my most recent tax cycle. I hope that I am an isolated issue but knowing that a quarter the United States cannot perform basic algebra or geometry when tested it tends to lend more legitimacy to my point. I hope this program is eventually eliminated but I know it will only be updated, as most government entities are, and made even worse for users to interface with.

The system walked me through each step of the way, but there were too many steps and some of the steps might be difficult or tricky for non computer savvy people.

Kind of slow and frustrating getting my ID verified, but realize in this day and age was all for my protection and I appreciate that.

Very good process so that they don't steal your identity but I couldn't upload files that the IRS asked me... I had to wait every time I wanted to enter but little by little I will learn thank you very much!
Updating my ID.me was easy to accomplish and understandable to me. Step by step I was "prompted" what to do & how to do it. No time at all to accomplish the "Security" requirements.
