I needed to Verify my estimated tax quarterly payments for 2024 had been received by the IRS. I already had a ID.me account but in order to access the IRS files they required additional information to make sure it was me. I had to upload the front and rear pictures of my California Drivers license. In addition I had to allow the irs to use my Cell Phone to take a virtual picture of my face for additional verification that it was me they were communicating with. This whole process took less than 10 minutes. With the crazy world we live these days, hackers, I was happy to provide all the info the IRS needed in order to access my account.
Started using ID.ME back in October, 2020. I think it was still new or in it's initial stages, back then. While the process works OK, changing from one process for log-in in to a different process is always tedious and time consuming. I think my first experience was with Dept of Veteran's Affairs, for example. Having ONE verification system ( like ID.ME) ensures consistent security and continuity between Federal Systems. It is the transition from an older system to a "NEW" one that may be challenging. I also had the issue of having to change emails! My first email went away! So I was forced to change emails ( in lots of different places!). This included ID.ME... Just things to consider. Thank You

When I try to log in to Veterans Affairs, the XMS dashboard comes up. I am not able to log in, although ID.me says I am verified.
Frustrated with the process of getting a perfectly acceptable document accepted. The addresses in Europe are laid out differently than in the use. As an example, the postal code precedes the city name in the country I now live in. But the address is compared to the format in the USA where the postal code comes after the city name. I believe this is why my document was refused, over and over. But I persisted and finally, someone accepted my document and I was finally confirmed.

The ID.me set up was relatively easy, but the link back to the IRS is broken and I keep getting error message 9998..." Something went wrong. Please try again later" very frustrating and no way to call. I filed a complaint, but haven't heard back. IRS transcript hotline also not working. Guess I will have to go in in person to get a transcript.

Signup and signing process for capturing DL or passport photo very poor. Rejected photos but could still verify and capture data. It took me two hours to complete the process.
The ID.me agent knowledgeably and capably assisted me with my identity verification as an American citizen residing overseas. My WebCam settings didn't allow for voice communication (my errors!), but he flexibly assisted me with an alternative method of voice communication.
