The process was straight forward, and the agent that confirmed my identity was also super patient and helpful.
If it hadn't been for id.me I could of still been waiting on my tax refund. It was a little over 3 weeks and where's my refund website would say your taxes are being processed. I tried and used id.me because of the changes the irs was going through than from like it was in the past. And the next day on the where's my refund website I had a date for when my taxes will be in my account. It was a reliever. I even was able to see any questions I needed answered right there on id.me website.
After entering all of my personal information including pictures of my identification ID me verified my identity however when I was redirected to the IRS website they refused the verification by ID me. It was a waste of my time.
There seems to be a mismatch with my identity. I checked on my SS retirement application a week ago and I login with no problem. This time it could not ID.me. My legal name is Michael Kent Brooks, but for some reason my SS card number shows a name "Mike Kent Brooks" All of my ID: Driver license, Military ID, Passport and Birth Certificate use "Michael" as my first name. It was very easy to use. The only problem was an error when using Chrome to take a selfie to identify my identity. After multiple attempts, I still got the same error that my browser settings weren't showing the permission to accept the camera, even though they were. I had to end up using Firefox instead.
