I can't speak to their data security policies as my trust in them is through association - because of the agencies that leverage their services. I do think the step should have less text and more visual aid for older people. As someone who does not have a driver's license or state ID, I appreciated that Id.me accepts many other forms and documents for verification. The video call was easy and my Id.me agent, Angela, was very professional, courteous, and patient. I will definitely recommend to friends that they use Id.me over login.gov (which inexplicably will not accept a US passport as a form of identification for a US citizen.)
