Run, don't walk
August 16, 2023

I was charged $100/nite more than same suite on another booking site. Sent 5 emails and 12 phone calls trying to get a question answered. NEVER got any response at all. Called hotel, they said reservation was thru Expedia. Expedia wouldn't help. The website has misinformation: promised free airport and local sites shuttle service. There is NO SHUTTLE to anywhere!. Can't cancel, can't get a reply...bounced all over the world. Heard chickens screeching in call background... The worst!

I book through Hotel Planners website designed to appear as though I were booking directly with the Embassy Suits in San Marcus TX for June 11 thru June 15,2023. When I checked out, I discovered I was charged $220 a night for Tax Recovery & Fees a total of $840. Thinking it was a mistake I contacted Hotel Planners and was informed the "Tax Recovery and Fees" relates to anticipated state and local taxes that are collected by the hotel property" I contact Embassy Suites who advised Texas Recovery Fee. Plus 0.98% mandatory charge per stay, plus tax. So total legal tax and fees of 0.98% for 4 night's stay should have been $10.81. When I recontacted Hotel Planners they advised once the booking is confirmed, we can't adjust the total, make changes, or add information, which apparently is their standard answer. They did not even offer a voucher for future stay.
In addition, Hotel Planners does not have the authority to collect and keep money collected for state tax purposes. I will be in contact with the TX comptroller office.

Hello,

This reservation was booked online. That means the total was fully disclosed before you confirmed your reservation.

The taxes and fees are a total of the suppliers and hotel fees. Please see below for our company's full explanation of those charges.

The tax charge on Save Rate hotel transactions is a recovery of all applicable transaction taxes (e.g. Sales and use, occupancy, room tax, excise tax, value-added tax, etc.) that we collect from customers and pay our vendors (such as hotels, etc.) in connection with our customers’ purchasers. We are not the vendor collecting and remitting such tax to the applicable tax authorities. The vendors bill us for applicable taxes, and we remit such amounts directly to our vendors. We are not a co-vendor associated with the vendor with whom we book to reserve our customers’ travel arrangements. Taxability and the appropriate tax rate vary greatly by location. The actual amount paid to a vendor may vary from the tax recovery charge, depending upon the rates, taxability, or other factors in effect at the time of the actual use of a given travel service by our customers. We do not incur the cost of sales tax from the vendors located in Alaska, Delaware, New Hampshire, and Oregon, as these states do not impose sales tax. Also, certain jurisdictions impose a hotel occupancy tax or other type of transaction tax upon the renting of a hotel room, an automobile, etc. The type of tax collected by a vendor will vary by service and location. We use third-party distribution channels for individual reservations.

If you have any further questions, please contact me at [email protected].

They lie and steal your money!
July 17, 2023

Everyone, do not use HotelPlanner.com. Their number is *******718. I ended up in contact with them (somehow as I swear I called the hotel directly) to book a weekend stay in New Orleans. I booked two rooms and emphasized to the agent that I may not need the second room. She repeatedly told me I had until August 6 to cancel and get a full refund. I cancelled the room a few weeks ago. After claiming I would not get a refund they said they would listen to the recording of the call to verify what I said. They finally came back a week later and said I would only get a certificate to use sometime within the next year and I would see it within 48 hours. It is now a good 2 weeks later and still no certificate. These people lie to get your money and then force you to use them again instead of refunding you. AVOID THEM AT ALL COST!

Hello,

You have already been refunded for the canceled booking. Only 1 of 2 of your bookings had free cancellation until 08/05. The one that had to be canceled was not the one that had free cancellation. That is why there was a bit of an issue getting the refund approved. However, it has been refunded.

Please feel free to email me directly with any further questions.

BAIT AND SWITCH
July 10, 2023

Reserved two rooms with HotelPlanner, hotel never received the bookings even though HotelPlanner sent me a confirmation email and am traveling to the hotel in the next few weeks. HotelPlanner has no resolution, every time I call them, they just contact the hotel to see if the booking is confirmed instead of finding a resolution. Illegal bait & switch done by HotelPlanner. Will be escalating.

Smoke and Mirrors
July 9, 2023

Beware that the price that you see online will not be the price you pay. I thought I was dealing directly with the hotel until I received my credit card summary. They lead you to believe you are paying one price and then when they charge your credit card the mark-up is tremendous, I thought I was booking a room for $186 and when I received my credit card statement the cost was $256. Smoke and Mirrors.

I was tricked into making a hotel booking through this website which was fraudulently designed to appear as though I were booking directly with the hotel, which was my only intent. After I was deceived into believing that I was speaking to the actual hotel, my credit card information was provided, but once I arrived at the hotel, there was no credit card information or booking on file. Absolutely no services were provided. Therefore, I booked directly with the hotel as originally intended.

This fraudulent website also charged an additional $95 on top of the actual cost of the hotel booking for a total of $28 when the hotel booking only cost $190!

Hello,

We sincerely apologize about the inconvenience that this situation caused. When booking with a 3rd party, you pay us, we pay the supplier, and the supplier pays the hotel. In this case the suppliers virtual card they provided to the hotel did not go through. The reason that is was less money than paid HotelPlanner is because the supplier pays the hotel less than even HotelPlanner pays for the room.

Again, we are so sorry about that, it is certainly not your fault. We have fully refunded your card. Please allow 2-10 business days to see that reflected on your card. If you have any further questions or concerns, please reach out to me directly at [email protected].

I made a reservation on June 12,2023. The agent said I'd get a full refund if I cancelled by June 2,2023. I said that can't be possible because it is already the 12th, are you sure you don't mean July 2? Oh, yes he said that must be it, July 2. Less than a week later I called to cancel and they will not give me a full refund. They keep insisting I needed to cancel by June 2 which is impossible. I would have needed a time machine. Now they are hiding behind emails and other obfuscations. They refuse to answer me by phone or email how I could have canceled by June 2. Terrible customer service.
Worst of all, I thought I was booking directly with the hotel. They pay to have their number come up first when you are searching for the hotel you wish to stay in. I have stayed at this hotel at least 4 times prior.

Will NOT use again.
June 24, 2023

I will never use this site again. I put in very specific requirements and it somehow all got screwed up. I got charged for 2 rooms for 4 adults and 4 children when I put 3 adults 2 children 2 rooms. I called to straighten it out and they were unwilling to do anything but blamed the Hotel. I went to other booking sites to see if it would do the same and they worked just fine and were quite a bit cheaper. Now I'm concerned I'll have more surprises when I actually check in. Non refundable also. I also did not agree to what was on the confirmation itself.

I was told by Hotelplanner employees via email and customer service phone agent that my guest was added to my stay at the Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa and I didn't need to do anything further and it wasn't a fee that needed to be paid because I didn't want to add all exclusive just a guest to my room that can hold out to 4 people (based on the website and the agents at the company) edward,Neko and Rachelle everything was sorted out with the hotel front desk on 6/14/2023.
I arrived to the hotel and was told nothing was approved, and Hotelplanner never reached out and my guest would need to pay 662.42 to stay or leave, my room only allowed all exclusive guest. Forced to add an all inclusive guest to my stay when I only wanted to add a guest to my room resort never received information and adding a basic guest without a package wasn't an option. I called customer support 7x and held for a total of 2 hours and hung up on 3x and received no help. Told sorry for the miss communication by supervisor Condessa but you need to pay, I informed her I don't have the funds and is your company okay with my guest safety being at risk and forced to sleep outside, Condessa states if that's what you choose to do. Two young women scared and alone,Thousands of miles from home minimal cash no credit cards(due to high theft country),no car, 45 minutes from the airport and the nearest hotel at 10 pm at night, I was forced to contact a friend to Western Union the funds and get a taxi and return to the resort 5 hours of my time wasted. 100 western union fee 55$ taxi
The business hasn't resolved my issues and no response.
Requesting refund for the extra fees paid at the hotel due to incorrect information.

Hello,

Your booking was a prepaid reservation at an all-inclusive hotel. When your booking is confirmed in our system, we are unable to edit the reservation further.

When you requested to add someone, even though we spoke with the hotel and emailed them, you still had to pay for what your additional guest got to eat and drink. We did not have any idea what the additional charge would be as that charge would have to come directly from the hotel.

As a gesture of goodwill, I can offer a $200.00 for a future booking. If you are interested, please email me directly at [email protected], or my boss at [email protected].

Kind Regards,

This is the worst company I have EVER booked through. I travel often. I planned a trip for my church and prepaid for the rooms. I was shocked when I arrived and I was told I had not paid for any of the rooms. I spent hours talking to my bank, the hotel and hotelplanner to get things straightened out. I discovered some rooms were prepaid and other rooms were not. I didn't have the church credit card because I the ONE recept said prepaid. The manager at the hotel said this happens often.

Scam thieves!
June 10, 2023

Thought I was booking online with Thatcher Az Comfort Inn, Hotelplanner is sneaky so beware. They charged me 254.48 dollars for booking a 2 day stay. This was on top of my hotel price. Ridiculous. Comfort Inn manager would never call me back and explain this charge was from Hotelplanner. I will be leary of any hotel from now on that is associated with Hotelplanner. Online scam thieves so beware.

Dear Cathy,
Thank you for reaching out to me directly!
We received a notification that the booking amount has been disputed through your bank. Unfortunately, when a notice of a disputed charge is received, we are locked out of the refund process while the dispute is under review with the original merchant of record,

This requires us to close your ticket pending the dispute investigation, which can take up to 90 days, and unfortunately, there is no manual override.

If you have a letter from your bank/credit card holder stating the dispute is withdrawn, we can make the request for the dispute review to be closed early.

This is what needs to be included in the dispute closed letter and emailed to [email protected]

1. MUST be a screenshot of a message in the bank’s online messaging portal or a photo of a letter on bank letterhead (Cannot be a forwarded email from a bank rep)
2. MUST state cardholder dropped or withdrew the dispute
3. MUST include the following info, which must match the charge info:
O Cardholder name
O Last four digits of card
O Amount of dispute

If you can present this documentation, we can work to have your dispute closed earlier, but we cannot promise approval. Unfortunately, that is not our decision. We will contact you with a status update as soon as we hear back from the merchant of record for this booking.

Thank you for your patience through this process.

Booked a room through hotel planner through what I thought was Hilton's website. Once I got the confirmation email, I realized I had not booked through Hilton. So I cancelled the HP reservation within probably one hour and received an email indicating I would get a refund. Then, three days later, I get an email from HP that tells me they can't get anyone at the Hilton to authorize the refund. I called the hotel directly and was told that no one from HP had ever called! I supplied the hotel employee's name and number to HP. They wrote me back and said Hilton had authorized the refund but the ability to refund is based on the hotel's discretion and I wasn't getting a refund. Make sense to you? Me either. I explained that if it was in the hotel's discretion, and they had approved it, then I am entitled to a refund. HP says they are sending a voucher. I won't hold my breath. I'm disputing the charge with my bank and have reached out to my state's attorney general's office to report this company.

Deceptive
June 7, 2023

My wife was on hotelplanner.com website when she found the hotel she wanted. She called the hotel direct using website number listed as Springhill Suite. When they answered and was asked, they identified as Springhill Suite reservations. Made her reservation and we stayed that night. On leaving the next morning, I asked why it was so high. They said the reservation was booked through a third party and they had no control over what they charge. I called hotelplanner.com and they said nothing was refundable. OK, our mistake, my loss was $ 80-100. BEWARE! At least this this time, they put their phone number in for the hotel and booked it for an inflated rate.

Hello Charles,

Please send your booking details to [email protected]. When trying to book through the hotel directly, it is imperative that you dial the number listed on their google page. Often people will scroll until they find a rate they like and book there instead of booking through the hotel.

When I called I asked twice what the total charge would be. The verbally confirmed it would be the rate I saw on line. When I finally got the bill it was $60 dollars higher. The employee I spoke with also lied that he was working at the hotel.

Which I could do more to report this company. So other individuals dont get taken like this.
