Good but...
November 5, 2019

I booked 2 trips to Europe over the last year through the app, got good prices and was very happy. When trying to book my next trip over the weekend, the app kept giving me the something went wrong' error and reversing the charges to my card. I tried using the chat option to find out what was happening and after 2 days, no one even bothered to read my message let alone reply to it or help me. I ended up booking through someone else (on the same credit card so that wasn't the Hopper booking issue).

The apparent indifference to customers who request help has put me off using Hopper in the future, which is a shame as I was really happy with it prior to this experience.

You have to send requests through chat and it says they will respond to you but they haven't yet despite many attempts. I have looked for a phone number to call but cannot find anything. Save yourself the headache and book through the airlines or a legit site.

Awful customer service.
November 5, 2019

There's no reliable way to talk to someone. You have to open up a chat room in their app, send a message, and just WAIT. it's been almost 2 days since I sent something and I've gotten nothing back. They're great as long as you never have to try to talk to them. Have to cancel a flight? Forget about it.

I thought I'd finally found a decent way to interact with airlines but it turns out hopper is just as bad as any other service.

Price freeze failed
November 5, 2019

I purchased Hopper's 72h price freeze service on an air ticket, but Hopper failed to deliver it after the purchase. I sought a comparable alternative ticket but they didn't offer one. I attempted to contact Hopper's support multiple times to resolve. It has been several days with no reply. I ended up paying more elsewhere because of their delay. Badly mistaken to trust Hopper in planning Xmas travel.

Unreliable Service
November 5, 2019

Been trying to find reschedule a flight for five days now even though these guys advertise 24hours customer support I only got an reply on the 4th day after submitting my request, the chat feel more like an email conversation, finally able to get a quote and receive a phone call so I could give my credit card info for an extremely overpriced change that I had to do it since im out of options, was received to at least had it over with until I woke up this morning with another message from the service late at night saying that they tried to process my request only at that our... and go a step further to blame it on the airline for not having it available anymore, sending me back to stage 0, putting a bot back at my conversation and giving me only the option to get a new quote, which im assuming it will be more expensive. No reply so far. would never recommend this service to anyone, im glad I'm at a long stay or else I would be really concerned on the reliability of this service to manage any sort of short trip or emergency flight changes that need to be done, the 24hrs service is very misleading and inefficient at getting things done quick. Really wouldn't recommend buying any tickets through it anymore, paying 100 to 200 dollars less its way worth it in my opinion so you don't have to deal with this kind of problems, and any changes on your ticket will have you pay way more than what you got on any deal.

I am an experienced traveler and I generally find good prices on flights. A friend told me about Hopper and since they had added the filters feature (I have terrible motion sickness so I have to be able to pick my own seat) I decided to give it a try. I almost bought my flight weeks ago, but the app said to keep waiting. I kept waiting for weeks, during which time I watched the price of my flight increase. I checked this afternoon and the app still said to wait. Well tonight I got a notification that I should purchase my ticket now because this was the lowest price that the flight would go. So I now get to pay an extra $45 because I listened to Hopper. Avoid this app and go with your gut. Your back account will thank you!

I thought this was an honest site. I booked our tickets to Hawaii for our honeymoon, and I have several other flights to book but am unsure I feel confident in doing so. I was about to book a short flight from one island to another, until I went on the site for the actual airline and found the price was doubled by hopper! Doubled! Booked through the airline and I'll probably book the rest of my flights directly through the airlines from now on. Hopper is good for one thing, letting you know when the prices have dropped. I get they need to make some money for their services, but finding a flight for $40 that they have listed for $85 is dishonest in my opinion.

I searched a trip from Dallas to Cape Town and found the perfect departure and arrival pairs and placed held the trip using the "Price Freeze" option. I paid my deposit to hold my trip and decided to confirm which payment card I wanted to use. I came back to purchase the ticket less that 12 hours later and the Hopper app told me that the flight was no longer available. I checked the city pairs again and I saw the same exact flight I placed on price freeze. With the same connections and layovers and everything. The price had gone up of course, but that is the whole reason I placed the $15.00 deposit to "Freeze" the original price. Now my price freeze is not being granted and I had to pick a different return flight which is much more inconveniencing. I am disappointed in the false advertising and deceit of the Hopper app and specifically the "price Freeze" option. This is not the way to run a business by falsely claiming that you will give the customer what he pays for then not honoring that claim. I am very disappointed. Hopper you should be ashamed of yourself. I am a surgeon. If I lied to my patients and falsely claimed what I could do for their conditions, I would be placed in jail. Your business is not in charge of the health of its customers and mistakes you make may not lead to life and death but you still are supposed to conduct your self in an honest and professional manner. And you did not be not honoring what you had promised. The principal of this whole situation is what I am most frustrated about. I did not save much going through this app but the lies are more costly then the couple bucks saved. I will never use this app again.

Too many updates for this app and constantly changing the appearance and options to retrieve flights!

Find that one thing that works best for everyone and stick with it! How hard is that?! No need to keep changing how to access flights, book, or watch for notifications.

Thankfully I've booked my flight months ago for next weeks trip but decided to do "watch this trip" on Hopper just to compare prices and see if prices drop below what I booked for.
Hopper kept telling me to wait and it would give me prices in the $600s and says "we predict lower prices" mind you flight was in 2 weeks so how lower could it get?

This morning I received a notification of $800 some price alert with a note that says "we don't predict lower prices, book now"!
If had waited to listen to Hopper this whole time I would have paid $300 more than what I originally paid for my flight.

Also, for some reason Hopper prices suggestions and flight options seems to be higher than other flight search sites (I.e. Google Flights)

I will still keep utilizing the app just for monitoring prices but I would not use it to book a flight as prices are higher and suggestions are not as accurate!

Terrible App.
November 8, 2019

Only giving it 2 stars cause it helps to scout prices otherwise it's useless. I froze a flight, then I paid for it and it proceeded to say "something went wrong" after it took a minute to load. But they took $100 from my account. Now I am going to miss my flight possibly and WAIT to get my money back? This was for my birthday and they ruined the experience completely. Not a good app. Not worth it to be running into issues like this when I could've went through Expedia for the same price.

Insurance is a scam
November 8, 2019

When my son purchased tickets through this app, he paid additional for the highest priced ticket insurance that the app offered, in case his plans had to change, due to him being active duty military. He ended up having to change his fight date and they refused to help him or refund his money. They told him the only way they would do it, is if someone died and he would have to send them the death certificate. I would not recommend this app to anyone. A Private in the military doesn't make much, they robbed him of almost 1 months pay and the ability to see his family on Thanksgiving. We haven't seen him for 8 months.

For some reason it's not showing all airlines available. I'm booking a flight for thanksgiving and this app is only showing two airlines. But on google flights, the lowest price showing is for Delta $358 and Hopper isn't showing Delta.. it's showing net lowest flight is $538 American I think it should show ALL airlines andprices!

Flights to Thailand from US booked months in advance. Days before departure they changed our return date. We rebooked nonrefundable hotels and flights from Cambodia. The day after we arrived they changed our itinerary AGAIN!! This time requiring us to spend an ENTIRE DAY layover in China! Don't be fooled! You've been warned. . .

There is no customer service number to talk to about your flight cancellation or change. There is just a robot in the app which they never respond. How do you define customer service? Fake app.
Be Aware and I will never use this app.

Ignores holiday events.
November 8, 2019

Useless... actually worse than useless around holidays. Simply put: Do Not Use unless you want to overspend by a wide margin.

(THE DEVELOPER response doesn't address the issue. The app fails to predict well and folks to notify when prices actually rise.)

Scam
November 8, 2019

Don't try to cut corners with services like these, you end up spending more money. Hopper is a scam. They won't allow you to use the $25 price freeze deposit towards another flight if your freeze expires, so they steal your money. Their customer service gets back to you after 24 hours. Google flights is the better and more accurate option to find affordable flights, Southwest also had cheaper flights.

Huge privacy risk
November 11, 2019

I was so excited to use this app and happy to buy a ticket for my mom. Everything went well until I get an email saying that my transaction got flagged and I had to send them a selfie holding Driver's License. My bank never flagged the transaction!!. They canceled my transaction because I don't feel comfortable sending them a selfie holding driver's license. What a bad way to do business!!
