False pricing updates
March 26, 2019

Got a notification for our flight that prices dropped to low 500s, tried to book right away, hopper said there were no seats left anymore on that flight. Called airline directly they said there are plenty of seats on the flight (180 days in advance) but never listed for the price hopper told us. What a waste of time

My friend and I were booking our flights to Greece and it was 640 dollars. When we go to book them, hers went through and my app "malfunctioned". When I looked to buy the flight again 5 seconds later, it went up 130 dollars. I contacted Hopper twice and no one has gotten back to me. I would not recommend using this app.

DOES NOT WORK AT ALL
March 11, 2019

Was watching a flight from Dallas to Seattle, asked around and a coworker told me to try Hopper. The app told me to wait to purchase my tickets and then I got a Google flights notification telling me my flight went up about $140 more total (4 tickets) I immediately became annoyed, after much research I decided to hurry up and buy my tickets that same day. I never deleted the Hopper app because I forgot and kept getting notifications to wait. Now my flight total is $400 more than what I bought the tickets for a month ago. I'm so glad I didn't decide to wait like Hopper told me to. They couldn't have been more wrong!

#1. They're in Canada on EST. Call center hours 7 a.m. to midnight, but they don't answer the phone.
#2 Phone wait times >20 minutes, then it disconnects and you are forced to leave a message; also told you can send them an email. Don't expect a call, just jerk around with back & forth emails.
#3. They changed my reservation for a European flight WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE and then CHARGED me another $221.00 USD for this. Good thing I happened to send them an email to confirm my trip or I would've been on a plane to Lisbon suddenly, not Porto, Portugal. Can't get them on the phone to straighten out how this happened, but feel free to send several follow-up emails in all of your free time. They apologize out the wazoo for the "delay"; you still can't get anyone to actually call you, but they're pointlessly cheerful and polite about it, instead of actually trying to SOLVE the problem of poor service.
#4. Prices were more expensive than going directly thru the airlines. [Mistake noted]
#5. Booking info is sent thru email. Good luck trying to figure out their layout. Get a calendar and pencil in the info to keep your sanity.
#6. You will not get a plane ticket or barcode. Call the airline and talk to them about your mystery trip booked thru someone not them and for seat assignments, wheelchair assistance, etc.
#7. To keep prices down, you requested a non-refundable ticket. This is a mistake.
#8. Last but not least: I called JetBlue to re-confirm the Hopper schedule. Surprise! My flight leaves PHL at 3:17 p.m. NOT 4:17 p.m.

Hopper is a freaking joke. Just make your reservations thru the airlines.

Got my name wrong
November 27, 2018

So I booked a flight through Hopper. And they got my name wrong. It was a huge mess. I almost wasn't able to go on my flight. I would not recommend them to anyone.

I had booked a flight through the hopper app, a few days later realized I had not received confirmation and reached out to confirm. Could not reach anyone by phone (mailbox was full) and no response to my email. The following day I called again to get a response that my flight was never booked, it must have been an "app error" and there was nothing they could do to help. At this point flight costs have doubled, I was forced to book through this terrible app again to get the closest price to the original. Moving forward I will never use this company again, I would not recommend to anyone!

I had an issue come up due to my married name not matching my maiden name on my passport. I contacted Hopper to help with this. Throughout this process they explained things well and when they weren't sure about a part of the process they did their own research on my behalf through the airline. This whole process was completed within one evening. I specifically was in contact with Sean and am not sure who else was involved, but I SO appreciate them going the extra mile!

After putting in my travel parameters I was told to buy now because flights would probably go up in a week. I waited and booked through the airline and the cost went from $432 on Hopper to $230 directly through the airline. I never received any notifications from Hopper about that lower fare but got one 3 days after booking notifying of an increase in the fare. How do you miss a drop like that?

Terrible service
September 22, 2018

Our flights were changed due to bad weather conditions in Japan, when we confronted the airline about compensation and paying for accommodation due as we had to spend more time in South Africa, the airline said it was the responsibility of the agent unless we had booked directly on their website, hopper then said there is nothing they can do not even to pay for our accommodation, this increased our expenses terribly. They were also slow to respond while we were going through all this.

Hopper booked a flight for my wife from Iceland to Seattle connecting in Chicago with only 1 hour 40 minutes layover time. Additionally they booked her a seat in row 31 on the arriving flight. I personally have cleared customs in Chicago and connected to a flight for Seattle, it takes a minimum of 2.5 hours to get off the plane, clear customs, get my luggage, recheck luggage, take the tram to the domestic terminal, clear security and get to the gate.

Despite explaining to Hopper this is an impossible connection, they say it is "valid" because their computer says it is. They will only provide an earlier flight if my wife purchases another ticket.

This site sucks
June 17, 2018

Do not use it! They suck, I watched flights for one month got a good rate, booked. Somehow in the one hundredth time logging in they not me, changed my flight from round trip 283 to 3-3. I missed it and now Im screwed. They say I should have caught it. Like anyone in their right mind would fly from Atl to cal and change planes to turn around and fly back in 30 mins. Are you kidding me. I bought tickets for my kids for a wedding, we got screwed doubles the rate. To change the departure. I will NEVER USE HOPPER OR RECOMIND THEM EVER. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!

So i have been looking for flights to brazil from the USA, clearly not something cheap. I started life on the east coast of the USA, so it was pretty easy to go to brazil from there. I would generally do it for 900 give or take.

Currently living in the mid-west area, (idaho) i thought it would probably be more expensive since the trip got longer and there are not as many large airports out here as there are on the east coast, but i thought it would not be to bad

As always, trying to save money, i look for some quick tips or tricks, and run across hopper. I decide to try it out. The cheapest flight they offered was 2300. That was honestly one of the most if not the most expensive one i found so far, after using many other search options. It then advised me to wait as it may dip 200$, but warned that after it was expected to go up over 900$. So if i waited to long, it would be 3,000 just for the cheapest flight option on hopper.

I went on google flights, which i love cause it is easy to use and has a nice calendar option that lets you see the price of the flight each day for whole months, and found one for 1,100. By far the cheapest, though other sites have offered anywhere from 1400 to 2000+. Plus with google flights, you can see which airlines will be offering the prices and how long each leg of the trip is and how long layovers are, etc.

Hopper gets a 1/10, would not recommend, was only installed on my phone for less than 5 minutes before i realized how pricey it was compared to others. justfly.com and google flights offer the best deals in my experience.

Completely avoid
June 4, 2018

DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!

It has honestly been the worst experience and I have been flying for over 20 years.
Story:
I called to change my flight through Hopper and they found me a flight but since I was on the phone with them for 4 hours waiting, they told me that they would email me the flight itinerary. About 2 hours after I hung up I got the flight itinerary and emailed back right away telling them they had my permission to book the flight using the original credit card that what used for the reservation. I did not hear back so I decided to call them. They then informed that that the fare had gone up $600 and that I would have to change my return flight as well. I asked them why, and they told me that the AIRLINE said it was the rules. Which I had never even heard of so I called the airline directly and they told me that was a lie and there was no rule that has ever stated that. So I called HOPPER and told them that. They said they will try to continue to work with them.
I kept calling once everyday for 2 weeks, then they finally found me a flight I could go on 12 hours PRIOR to the departure. So I gave them my credit card number, they charge me for a flight, and I started packing. 4 HOURS PRIOR to departure they called me and told me that the ticket could not be booked because a problem with the airline. Once again I called the airline and they said that the agency had not put anything through. So I called every 4 hours trying to change my flight and check on the progress of my flight. 34 days later they finally found me a flight, charged me card (again) and im now less than 48 hours out from my departure time and once AGAIN am being told by the airline DELTA that HOPPER has not changed my flight. So I am now waiting 2 hours on the phone with HOPPER waiting for them to resolve my issue.

DO NOT BOOK WITH HOPPER!

Use it to check the prices, but then directly use the airline to book your tickets.

For two months I was watching a flight from Harrisburg, PA to Billings, MT. The original price was around $850.00. Hopper told me to wait and the price would come down... two weeks ago the price was $1050. 00... Hopper told me to wait and the price would come down... this morning the price was $979.00... Hopper told me to wait ad the price would come down... this afternoon Hopper told me that there are no flights that match my criteria... what a joke! I wasted two months and probably hundreds of dollars... Now I have to start over and try to get to Billings on my own... thanks for nothing

A professional travel agent just watched and booked the same exact flight for me at literally half the cost the Hopper App on my IPhone wanted to! Shame on you greedy Hopper. No way to profit by taking advantage of people.
