Be very careful here. I rented a car with Hertz, made my selections, and got my GUARANTEED rate. My car was at a location with NO agent, just grab and go. When I got my receipt, added charges for insurance, airport fees, etc. Over $500 more than my quote. Look at your receipt and DEMAND to speak to a "live" agent before you leave. TERRIBLE customer service. Will NEVER rent from them again.
ERRIBLE COMPANY
Paid in full for a car to be picked up at sacramento Airport. On arrival was told insurance was no good and would have to upgrade, offered an upgrade for at total of $40.
On arrival back in UK found out the total bill was over $400.00.
Messaged Hertz and have been fobbed off time and time again.
This is by far the worst car rental company I have ever used.
Absolutely $#*! service, arrived at 1 am and waited for 2 hours because the service is so $#*!ing slow. One worker working and zero apologies for the delay.
I pre paid for my rental car on priceline with Hertz car rental the price $133.69, when I arrive to pickup the car the desk representative tells me that she's new and we proceed with my rental she asked my if I would like the daily car insurance which should have been an additional $10.00 per day, she also told me that Hertz would be placing a hold for total amount amount of the rental which would be released upon me returning the car. So imagine my surprise when I go to pay credit card bill showing me that Hertz charged me an addition $162.20. I reached out to customer service and spoke with a representative who got me to his supervisor Alex and they both made it very clear that they could care less about my issue, and refused to allow me to speak to anyone above Alex. I don't know how they are allowed to get away with doing this but clearly someone needs to look into it!
Car reservation at Newark on a Sunday morning. Stood in line for over 2 hours to get to the desk where 2 people were working and 2 were hanging out eating Pepperidge Farm cookies. The guy had to physically leave the desk to walk out to make sure the car was in lot. Then stood in line outside another hour waiting for a car to be brought — one car ata time to the first person in line. Then sat in the lot for another 45 minutes waiting, you guessed it, in line to check- out of the lot. Wow! There went 4 hours of our day, and we ended up with a smaller car than we had ordered and needed to move with. Took anything we could just to avoid SPENDING MORE TIME IN LINE!
It was a pleasure working with Jozsef Johnson. It started with greeting me at the door as I approached the office. Then I noticed how knowledgeable he was about the vehicle I had rented which was a Honda Accord. He made the me feel welcomed which made the transaction process go smoothly. I would recommend that anyone renting from Hertz, please find out the location of Jozsef Johnson. He works to get the job done the first time.
Avoid Hertz and rent your car with another company. I rented my car with Hertz 3 times and all 3 times my experience got worse and worse. First experience I paid in-full for a SUV and when I arrived I was told that they didn't have any SUVs and that they could only offer a compact or minivan without a refund for the extra I paid for an SUV. My second experience was when I returned my rental I was charged a late fee of 2 hours not because I brought the car late but because when they checked in the car it was hours after I originally returned it. Luckily I took pictures when I returned it to prove it was brought back hours before they claim I did. Even with those pictures I had to fight with consumer service to get a refund for the extra charges. My last experience is by far the worst. On April 28,2022 I arrived at Tampa Airport Hertz and was offered an upgrade for $32 total. I asked several times if "I will only be charged $32 correct" with the response of "yes only $32". Their signature pads do not have a screen so whatever you sign it is done blindly and you have to trust what the employee is saying to you. I was asked if I wanted an upgrade to a full-size for $32 total which I accepted and declined any additional insurance. The employee said "no problem and to insert my credit card and sign on the signature pad". I didn't get a print out on the spot. I was told I would get an email with all paperwork which I didn't get until I returned the car 4 day later. I immediately contacted Hertz customer service to complain about the additional charge I didn't accept. I was told "We are sorry to hear that you were charged for the loss damage waiver. We regret to inform you that the rate is valid and you signed the rental agreement." Obviously this is how they scam their consumers! They tell you that you are signing for one thing but really you are signing for extra charges. Absolutely sad! I will never rent a car through them again.
Reservations for car 12/16/2021 to 12/20/2021. Cost $476.40. Flights were canceled and we could not pick up car until 12/17/2021. HERTZ CUSTOMER SERVICE gave us a new price for 12/17 to 12/20 of $3,740.00! Yes they did this! I asked multiple times to clarify. "OUR PRICES HAVE CHANGED". This is the worst example of price gouging have ever seen!
NO WE DID NOT TAKE THEIR CAR! And NO…. I will NEVER use HERTZ AGAIN FOR anything at any price.
I picked up my rental at Dallas Love. I had booked the vehicle through Priceline and fully paid my bill with Priceline. There was no issue with pick up and drop off, but when I returned home from my trip, I received a hefty bill from Hertz, for many optional insurance coverages which I neither asked for, nor explained about. When I contacted Hertz to complain, they passed me on to the location and after many calls, they promised me a manager will contact me and sort it out, which they never did. It's a rip off scam they are running with insurance which cost me more than rental costs! I will never rent from Hertz again, ever. Very poor customer service.
35,000 miles on Chrysler300. POS. Dirty inside, smelled like smoke, with smoke burns. We drove away, without asking for the FOB. Assumed it was in the center console. Wrong. When we made our first stop, we couldnt find the FOB. Called for customer service, NO ANSWER. Called their emergency and that customer service repr couldnt get the Chicago O'Hare office ot answer. Called for 30 minutes. We looked for 30 minutes for the FOB. Finally found it. It was hidden under the drivers seat, tucked under the plastic and wiring. Someone intentionally put it there, wedged it in there, so that the driver could never find it. POS Chicago OHare Hertz staff. Horrible. Then they wanted to charge me $99 to fill it up. NO THANK YOU.
Worst customer service and personal character I ever witnessed in a company. Was stuck on a bridge for five hrs with my 85 year old mother. First off the car was a piece of crap and check engine light came on. Stuck on a bridge in a very bad place. Know help from hertz at all or symphony. Was stuck there for five hrs until police and tow truck showed up from my wife begging them to help us. Do not trust the safety of your family to these people. I am considering suing this company which is something I thought I would never do.
Hertz tried to charge me $343 a day for a Kia Soul in Seattle. I spent close to an hour at the Gold counter, as I was not going to pay this grossly over priced charge. After a 45 minute wait, the manager reduce the charge to $51 per day. However, when I got my bank statement, Hertz did charge me the original price for a total of $1,646. When I called customer service, i was told that the $343 a day was the original reservation and that there was nothing that could or would do to correct this. I called the Seattle airport location and they have no record of the manager fixing this.
I have been a loyal Gold (sometimes President/4 star) customer for 20 years and this how I'm treated! Wow! As of now, I will be renting from National.
I purchased a $23,000 2019 Jeep Cherokee and after a month it was in the shop for repairs! Hertz never offered to help pay for anything, which was fine, you can't predict what happens when it leaves the lot. However, It was back in the shop 5x in 2 months and in the 3rd month the engine was shot! I had the car less than 5 months, after THOUSANDS of dollars spent to fix, The engine was $9,000 which the POWERTRAIN Warranty DIDNT COVER! Hertz basically told me not to contact them again after asking for help! They did absolutely nothing to help us! I called non stop for months after it was sitting in the Jeep Dealership and they said since we didn't purchase an EXTENDED warranty that they won't help us! Talk about taking your money and laughing at you in the same breath! I'd stay FARRRRR away from this place! You are being warned from someone who put thousands of dollars into a new car, had the PowerTrain warranty, and paid in full! They will tell you anything you want to hear! They also told me they don't use CARFAX when asked if it had any previous problems! I should've known right there but figured they were still fine! Trust me, Trust your gut, walk away FAST! Don't even waste your time or money on anything they have to offer!
Attached are some of the engine in the back seat! YOUVE BEEN WARNED!
So I reserved a car for April 19,2022. Went to pick the vehicle up they gave us a keep even to the reservation was a 4 door sedan. So I complained they gave us an upgrade still not what we wanted I reserved what I wanted they was short cars not my problem. So I took the car it had dirty windows was not cleaned out at all. Even the change oil light was on. All this took about 45 minutes before I finally drove away. I was a little late they changed me 2 hours fee of 65 dollars. Fine it's understandable if they didn't mess up so much. I called the number to speak to an representative. She told me the charge is staying you are paying it after all there screw ups. So because they decided I would have to pay 65 dollars not a lot that's not the point. I'm a returning customer that rents all the time so they lose out on 100s of dollars for 66 dollar late fee. There horrible and the reps are out of the USA. Like Indian it sounds like
HERTZ FILES FALSE STOLEN VEHICLE REPORTS = INNOCENT CUSTOMERS IN JAIL!
This is a common practice with them and THOUSANDS of Innocent Customers have been Arrested and Jailed!
BOYCOTT HERTZ FOREVER!

Their customer service is horrible. They'll send an e-mail 3-5 business days later after an inquiry stating that they have a high influx of e-mails so they take a long time to reply then just tell you to call a 1-800 # and remain on the line for 10-15 minutes. Their e-mails are ALWAYS saying sorry for the inconvenience but the messages are completely automated. I cancelled my reservation at the end of the 15 minute call.
Made several reservations and had to cancel one of them. Went on the website to cancel and none of the reservations were shown. I went to the app on my phone and it didn't show up there either. So I called Hertz customer service which is just unbelievable, You are encouraged about 10 plus times to cancel online which you can not. (They even say its simple hah ha) Then they say they will charge 5% to speak with you. I kid you not. The process only took a little over an hour by the time they picked up the phone.
They found all the reservations in just 20 more minutes and told me they would have to charge me a cancelation fee to cancel a reservation I couldn't even change or see online. I promise to anyone who tries calling Hertz for simple service, that you would be better off putting a gun to your head. It would overwhelmingly be less pain and suffering!
Frequent traveler and Gold customer for over 30 years. Just found out that they are now charging 5% to book reservations via the Gold Club phone line.
You go to blazes - this former customer is switching to Enterprise!
I was working at the time so I called a local service which I paid for out-of-pocket. And hertz still charge me for just calling in to request assistance. Don't ever rent from them
Hertz is very unprofessional and a rip off! I never heard of a car rental agency not giving a refund if you cancel your reservation. I reserved I a cargo van to rent for 2 weeks due to my insurance company misinformed me about coverage for car rental. Once it was corrected and I found out I was covered. I informed Hertz and asked for a refund. They declined my refund. This was a large amount of money. Therefore I feel like I was robbed because they have my money for a 2 week van rental I am not using! I turned it in the very next day, and received nothing back. I was told to send a contact form to corporate via their website. I did but received no response. Hertz is anti American in their business practices and a total rip off!
Answer: Unfortunately scam is a kind of normal for hertz.com
Answer: ENTERPRISE! Go there, they have way better rates and won't screw you over.
