Rented at Raleigh Duram airport location and couple weeks ago. Billed me for two days + extra hours and pre-paid fuel. The president of our company was traveling with me, so I've got a wittness. Turned the car in the day after picking it up...beore noon. Had previously changed my fuel option. Reached out to 800 number customer service...worthless and a waste of time...offered to remove the extra hours charge. Tried to email someone at the Hertz airport location. Still haven't heard back. As a longtime Hertz Gold customer I should be treated better. Since you won't, I'll just continue to burn you on social media.

Pay now is a scam

I prepaid for my rental online, and the quote I was given included various fees and taxes. However, they not only added a loss damage waiver and emergency roadside assistance against my wishes, but also added higher fees and taxes. And then, they charged me $20 extra for a fuel service, despite me having filled the gas before returning it. So the grand total in the end almost came to double what I agreed to pay online. Hertz is a scam

Terrible experience

Extremely disappointed! I had booked a Tesla a month before our rental date for my husband as a Christmas present. Hertz was aware of this and very accommodating saying they would even give us an upgrade to a Tesla Y for him as it is a present. I thought this was very kind. HOWEVER, when we arrived we were given a Tesla 3 (which is fine...not a problem) but it only had 48% charge. It had only 48% battery on it and we were planning to go to Banff straight away. We were told we could get there and have 8% battery remaining. I am definitely not taking that chance in the winter. If there is an accident or a traffic hold up then we are stuck on the highway in the winter in freezing conditions - this is an extreme safety issue they put us in. (Rental companies rent vehicles with a full tank of petrol...of course they should rent a vehicle with a full charge) They knew a month in advance of this booking...we did not just walk off the street and say we needed a vehicle! The car was extremely dirty inside and out - it was not washed at all from the last customer. Filthy. Plus, I am very cautious of car companies and check cars thoroughly before I leave the lot. The gentleman who gave us the keys was very annoyed I was taking photos and checking it. He kept telling me that he already did that and that is would be emailed all the photos. He was very rude with me checking the damage myself. It's a good thing I did check it myself because the email with all the photos did not arrive. Extremely upset with this hire car experience and the ruined Christmas present idea for my husband.

The worst rental process I've ever had

I pre-paid for a car rental at the counter. They refused to give my wife, the car, leaving her stranded. I called for a refund and I had to make for follow-up phone calls and still have not received my money. Do not use this company. Do not let your friends use this company, you WILL GET RIPPED OFF

Disgusted

Disgusted. Yes, I made mistakes, but zero help or support. Back in August I used a van to collect family from Heathrow. 1) the van didn't have the 1/4 tank - I was stressed and didn't see the £50 card limit. Paid £114 to fill up - they will NOT refund me. Drove through the Heathrow drop off area as I panicked about the height restrictions for the car park. Told Hertz there maybe a penalty coming, how should I pay, please let me know if one comes in? Months later I finally get a full penalty, but now so late I can't pay it online and it's gone to enforcement company! I have repeatedly chased them for answers and now finally in December told - no, no help. At least £230 out of pocket now because they just don't care.

FRAUD

FRAUD! We had two reservation with them in the last couple of weeks. First car we had some issues with the pickup place. Took soma arrangements with the costumer service that they did not honour. Second, the car was not washed with foot prints on the window. No reimbursement or nothing. They charged us an extra 600$ and refused to reimbursed.

Shelby GT Mustang

I typically rent from Enterprise, however, Hertz has the Shelby GT Mustang and I wanted to do a weekend test drive. Making the reservation, picking up, and returning was a breeze. My issue is the car has been locked down with a speed limit of 80, no cruse control, and the radio set to a max volume that can not be heard with the top down. There is no disclaimer of the above online or at pickup. I have rented other Hertz cars and they were not restricted. I will keep with Enterprise for their sports cars going forward, and recommend you do the same.

I've rented a car from Hertz Tenerife and all of the rental process felt like a trap from the beginning.

This was an intended scam from the beginning, giving me a SPECIFIC car with dents all over, the representative with absolutely no english, his scam deal offer...STAY AWAY

First of all when i arrived at the desk, the guy that served me didn't speak english nearly at all. He just asked for my documents, i've filed the paperwork, he gave me the key and very briefly, in a broken english, told me that the car has some damages but it's all recorded.
Before offering me the keys to this SPECIFIC car, he tried to sell me extra insurance. After i refused and explained that i already have an extra insurance, he then choose this SPECIFIC car which they use to scam people.
So the car is nearly new, drives well and all, BUT has loads of dents all over. Most of them you can't see when picking up the car by yourself, no representative is there when u pick up the car, because the cars are parked in an area covered with some kind of ''roof'' that makes it almost impossible to check the car paint for scuffs.
On returning the car, the HERTZ representative didn't speak any english AT ALL. He was using a phone with google translate and still there were communication barriers. He then showed me two small scratches on the car that ''were new'' as he stated. I've shown him pictures to prove they were there already. At this point he started to ask if i have extra insurance, 3 times in a row he asked, then when i confirmed, he said let's make a deal. He will charge me only for one of the small scratches and i will claim from the insurance.
This is clearly a scam, they're getting money from me, I'll claim them back and everyone is happy.
He tried to make me pay the 80Euro charge there and then so he could give me a receipt :)) Although they already had a deposit of 830Euro from me...

This is a disgrace for the company, a very bad way of doing your job as a human being and employee(knowingly scamming people) and also not the best way to end your holiday.

If you don't have the app or can't get online to book a car and ask questions -forget it. They don't care about you! Go elsewhere for a car. Even the voice prompt that says press for reservations takes you to a menu that does not even include booking a reservation and getting you to an agent.

Nothing good at Hertz

Rented from Hertz for a personal trip. The car was expected at the airport but was offsite, about a mile away. No shuttle, had to taxi. Once at the offsite pickup, asked if the car could be dropped off at the airport because they had a location at the airport. Said there would be a drop fee of $20. Because I had to be at airport by 6:00 AM and the pickup offsite location was seedy, the $20 fee was good option. However, the charge was $100 plus tax and they never emailed the receipt. I had to check CC activity to find it. When I went thru the process to dispute the bill, they send some type of automated response. Don't think a person even saw it. Additionally, the car had a bad battery and had to get it jumped at 5:00 AM. Don't think the car had ever been service as it was filthy under the hood. Also, the low tire indicator came on while driving and had to stop and check that. Hertz use to be a good company years ago when I used them for biz travel. I think they will bankrupt again and this time for good because they are a horrible company.

Billing issues

We rented a van for vacation.We rented it online for $421.43. When we receive the bill, it was $865.99.We been trying to contact Fort Lauderdale office, they don't answer or hang up on you. When we turned the van in and the manager was to call us, still waiting for a phone call. Very bad service

Had Hertz contract in Las Vegas for commercial vehicle, 7 days at $217.14. No commercial rentals at Vegas location I went to. Only option was to rent a standard car for $679 versus my quoted $219.14.
Spent 1 hour on phone with Hertz, on hold 8 times, then to supervisor, whom I never spoke with, THEY disconnected me. Their solution was to rent me a car at that location for $639, but then said no, I could rent a commercial vehicle at another Vegas location for $724, $505 more that my contract reservation.
Called back and Hertz rep said they could not help me, even though I would have accepted $217.14 as a credit against my Credit card. They said that they could not help me. I am disgusted and will contact the NV attorney's office. A clear "BAIT & SWITCH" by a very unethical Hertz organization. DO NOT expect any custoner satisfaction from Hertz, the absolutely suck!

Never Again

We booked and paid for a car to be picked up at the Ellis St San Francisco location on 19 Sept. When we arrived we were told they had no cars available. Some 5 other families were in the same position. They did not know when or if cars would become available that day. We were told there were no cars available at other Hertz locations in the city or the airport. Nor would they take mu mobile no to update me as they said they were blocked from calling a UK no. So we (and others there) had no alternative but to go to the airport and hire at considerable expense from a different company. We have only today (17 Oct) been told we will get a refund. How can a reputable hire company take bookings for cars it doesn't have?

For hours I attempted today to book a rental. Keep in mind I'm a President's Circle Member at Hertz and have thousands of points for free rentals. I had my first opportunity to use some of my points to get a free rental. It was impossible to do. I tried on the website and kept getting a web site error message. I tried contacting someone but kept getting routed to an outsourced call center somewhere in Asia that had little or no product knowledge (didn't understand my renal was a 3 day and not 2 day) and was impossible to understand (poor English language). I spent hours trying to rent a car for the weekend using points online, through the app, using the 800 number and even Facebook and Twitter messages and still was unable to complete this simple transaction. What a terrible customer experience.

I have been a loyal Hertz Gold Card member for many years. I rarely rented from any other company given the company's helpful phone assistance, the pick up and drop off process, and overall dependable vehicles and rental experience. I have to say after the company emerged from bankruptcy, still the largest rental company based on vehicles rented, I am completely fed up with the current rental experience. A few weeks ago I rented a mid-sized car to be picked up at the Hertz location at the Phoenix airport on May, 20th of this year. I rented the car for seven days with a scheduled drop off at the McCarren Airport in Las Vegas on May 27th and the total cost was supposed to be $1,065.

I got a rental through my insurance company due to an accident. I authorize a charge for $150 + a $50 deposit. They told me to have my car back by the 9th so I would not be charged anything additional. The car was on half a tank when I received it and they asked that I bring it back the same.
When the car was returned I was told that they were charging me $47 because it wasn't where it should have been on the gas line. I returned it on half a tank as requested. It was a half of a tank but they said it should have been just above.
Then They charged me an additional $150 because they said I had the car too long. I literally brought it back the day I was supposed to. They are now blaming my insurance, and my insurance is blaming them. So now I am out an additional $150 + the gas they claimed. This is a complete racket and I will never use them again!

Segr schlechter Service. Die Mitarbeiterin Maria Teresa bietet mich das Paket mit Versicherung und Rückgabe von 100 Euro für das Benzinpfand an: nie wieder gesehen. Sie lügen schamlos sagt zu mir ich habe geraucht (ich bin kein Raucher), um weitere 50 Euro für die Reinigung! Also ich bekomme doppelte Belastung aif meine Kreditkarte: Am Ende 7 Tage Miete für 300 hat mir gekostet 600. Nie wieder! Absolut nicht zu empfehlen
