This service rescued me when I urgently demanded a car to drive. You easily choose th pick up and drop off locations, as well as specify precise time period, and you can enjoy a wide selection of cars of different classes. That is what I liked the most about Hertz.
As far as I know the service is represented not in every state but I was in Florida, so grabbed this chance and again thank you very much for saving my life, LITERALLY!
Rented a car for 6 days and on day one, tire issue's. Then tire issues all week and with many calls to Hertz no one ever answered & voicemail was full so couldn't even leave a message. I called several numbers and even selected road side service needed but again no answer nor option to leave message because vm was full...so disappointed with our whole experience...AND NO ONE TO TALK TOO ABOUT IT...Never again and will share with over 300 people I just work with not including entire family and friends.
Never take the car from Hertz, they are more than double the price of the market.
If you are planning to book one at the airport, it is better to reach your destination by Uber and book through any other local company.
Before you realize they are looting you, you will be well under a lot of money and will repent.
I am telling you from my personal experience, that after paying over 4300$ in two weeks I realized the same could have been done maximum of USD 600.
Never, Hertz, we get under the impression of Tesla and all through them but it is all a trap. Worst company to take car rental from.
I took Tesla and lost my Key, I called the call center they told me USD250, and to take a replacement, when I went to take a replacement they charged me USD400 dollars for the key, and the person at Newark airport in the Gold member area was damn rude. When I said okay I will return the car, this person charged me a full week despite I returned in one day, I did not realize it earlier, but after a few minutes when left, ran back to him what he did.
No apologies nothing, he just said "O" and then adjusted it. As if he is doing a favor to me.
First, we stand in the queue every time for over an hour, where one person will be there who is least interested in working and above that charges you exorbitant money and loots you.
My advise do whatever but keep away from HERTZ.
When picking up my reserved vehicle at Barcelona airport I was asked if I wanted personal insurance coverage. I declined the coverage but the agent slipped it in the contract anyways. Lesson learned: always look at all the details before signing a rental agreement, no matter how long it takes. This lesson cost me 120 Euros for useless insurance.
I went online and reserved a Tesla for $50 a day for two days. When I arrive this morning to pick the car up, there was no Tesla and the only thing available was something super expensive in comparison. I feel like this company is very deceitful and uses and abuses their customers. So sick of these large companies getting away with all their lying deceptive practices and schemes.
I do not even want to give the Bozeman Montana Hertz Rental even one star! The customer service was so bad. The girls I dealt with Lynn and Christina were so rude and disrespectful! I searched Hertz.com for a vehicle for our trip to Yellowstone a year in advance and confirmed a car for one week of $575.68. When we arrived at Bozeman they said that when I reserved the car I used a code for a company called Woodforest. I had no idea what she was talking about. I reserved the car by going to www.hertz.com. They said that if I could not show proof of working for that company I would have to start all over again. Which I had to do and they charged me $1274.56 for the new reservation. They accused me of stealing because they said I tried to use a code that was not allowed for me. I believe this is a scam and they add the code to everyone's reservation to trap you into reserving again! You are on your trip already and need the car what else are you to do but of course start over and they double charge you. They said the manager was on a vacation out of the country and nothing would be resolved until they got back. I never heard back from the Manager ever. I have had to call back every time. No one ever returned an email or phone call. NEVER EVER use Hertz. Check the reviews! The reviews are terrible! There is even a Facebook page called Hert Rent a Car Sucks! Now I know why!
Didn't pass the discriminatory filter as a resident of Belarus and was refused service in Italy.
Despite the fact that previously hertz offered rentals in Belarus itself, now its residents have become unwanted clients.
Look at the charges Hertz added to my bill. Very deceitful company. Will never rent from them again

I rented a one way car from Hertz in Switzerland. The reservation included the one way fee as about $400. Their office confirmed the total would be the same as my Priceline reservation including the $400 one way fee. However a few days after I had returned the car, the bill showed the one way rental as $1900. I was referred by their customer service to several Hertz centers via phone and email. Unfortunately, they did not reverse the additional $1500 for one way rental. So I ended up paying $1900 just for the one way rental. They later pointed out that I had signed some documents while picking and there was a line there; that Hertz is allowed to add additional fees later on.
I hired a hertz rent a car to pick up in their branch in Malta. I found additional damage other than what they had put on form. Before moving the vehicle i took several photos of the damage and the additional one. On returning the car they informed me that they would be taking 450 euros out of my account for the extra damage ie 3/16 of an inch paint chip.
I sent several emails protesting my innocence on this but received no reply then without my permission they took the money out if my account this us tantamount to theft. I will never use Hertz malta again and am involving agencies to help return of my money. I am appalled that Hertz malta cantreat a customer like this.
Had a reservation@9:30am...was told after I asked I cannot leave my car there...so had to go back and get someone to give me a ride. Got a car...packed and ready to leave town- of no passenger seatbelt does not work most of the time (also front tires unsafe in rain, but I didn't even mention that). Took it back, and response was oh I got it to latch...That's nice but I'm not interested in a car that has a seatbelt that latches 2 out of 10 tries...I insisted, and they gave me different car. Loaded and left town. Now the AC does not work...we hit 88 degrees on the way back...that nice and BTW torrential rain so the 1st car would have had 2 problems.
Ok add these 2 things to that...1) when I picked up the car I actually rented, I got no walk through the car, no check of anything and it had a huge scrape on one of the wheel arches...went back and was told oh yeah we noted that. The gas tank was 7/8 full (digital gauge) and they marked it full. By the time I left it was 11am instead of 9:30. Asked them to change time on rental to 11...they refused.
2) just called customer service and was told all they can do is $50 credit toward future rental...GTFO- insulting for such problems. Asked to speak to supervisor was told there are none available.
Here we are. Your experience may vary but this got to be the worst rental for me in 30+ years
Hertz car rental is bull crap. I rented a Nissan pathfinder or similar 2 weeks in advance a they charged my card an I was to pick up at there newark Delaware location. My pick up time was 11am when I was on way I get phone phone call an 10:50 asking me if I could come at 11:30 so I'm not waiting around for my vehicle so I agreed. Well an behold I get there 11:30 an tell them my rental name they look it up an proceed with we don't have a Nissan pathfinder or any 7 passenger vehicles but hold on I have a ford edge. Ok I say just reimburse my card difference. Well we can't do that here. Do what! Then all sudden she say hold on we don't have anything for u to take not a 5 passenger not a car hell not even a bike. Now I'm 5 hrs into my vacation traveling time down drain an they proceed to tell me that they can't refund my money either I gotta call corporate. Well I'm heading home cause no we are going to have to take our own vehicular and chance it cause no number to talk to anybody for them to get me a rental from another location the location I was at did not care they was closing at 12 noon an I try to get hold some one to refund money an nobody u can talk to on phone to do that all automated an nothing for refund they didn't have my rental. You can modify your rental but only cancel or extend an if I cancel they charge me a 150$ cancellation fee. Not doing that. So hertz you suck all way around
The change in the Hertz website two years ago has made it useless. After they screwup your rental (wrong number of days charged, electric service charge for car returned at 85%), or even better; when your rental car (which was reserved an confirmed) simply is not there (three times in the past month), THEN you have to deal with "customer service". IF you can figure out what the person in country "x" is trying to say in English, that means that you have endured 20 minutes of the worst POS hold muzak that has ever, EVER, been used to annoy the crap out of someone patiently waiting to be hung up on AGAIN, while trying to get them to correct their constant mistakes. Avoid at all costs. I am a President's Circle member at Hertz, and I'm NEVER going back.
Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT rent from Hertz. They lie on their website and say a vehicle is guaranteed, but when you arrive for pick up, they just take your money and hand you the keys to a different downgraded model. No notice, no apology, no explanation. Not even a refund for the downgrade until you go back and forth with customer service.
Hertz needs to take "guaranteed" off of their site because they do not honor it. It is treated just the same as their regular "or similar model" vehicles. I reserved a Tesla Model 3 in January 2023, received multiple emails in June 2023 to hype me up and get me ready for my Tesla rental, and then when I arrived to pick up my car they handed me keys to a Chevy without even letting me know they didn't have the Tesla. It took several emails back and forth before I was even offered the price difference between the Tesla rental and the Chevy rental.
Atrocious customer service. I had been a Gold Member for years, but I will never rent from them again.
Arrived at Hertz airport desk at 11:30 PM to collect my reserved car. Hertz told me they had given the car to another customer and had no cars left. So what is the point of a reservation with Hertz?
We booked, months in advance, a small automatic car for 2 weeks from Milan, Italy with an additional driver.
We got to the hire car depot and they said they only had a larger size manual transmission car.
They still charged us for the additional driver even though they couldnt drive a manual car and also still charged the extra for an automatic transmission.
They have also refused to refund the approximately $1000 extra we paid for an automatic and extra driver.
Do not use them they lie and are untrustworthy
In three recent Hertz rentals, they had no cars available despite taking my reservation and my being a President's Circle member. In each case, a bunch of other people were also left without cars. The manager at the one in NYC said he thinks this is the company policy despite it being illegal in New York. Sounds like an opportunity for another class action lawsuit against Hertz. I guess leaving their customers stranded without a car is better than having them arrested for stealing a car that they rented!
Consistently the worst experience out of all of the competitive brands. I have tried many times on business and the occasional leisure trip and Hertz always seems to mess up the reservation, overcharge, not be transparent, difficult to execute simple tasks via their website and poor customer service both in person - and if you are lucky enough to actually get an agent on the phone in under 30 minutes. No thank you.
Hi, we had a very disappointing case with car rental in Italy, Venice (Hertz franchise). A clear dishonest treatment. We had a car accident (fortunately not serious damage!), and after a very detailed investigation by local police (Slovenia) who did an exceptionally professional job we got an official report, that clearly claims that it was the fault of the other driver (local) and he also paid the fees (in accordance with specific paragraph of Slovenian legislation). All the documents, including Insurance, were forwarded to the office in Italy (where the car was rented). Despite a clear-cut case, they judged that we were guilty anyway and had to pay for the damage. It wasn't even an official response with arguments. Seems like the whole documentation was just disregarded 'by definition' (pictures, police report, insurance form). As it's an apparent contradiction to the facts! Presumably, a person will not be judged to pay a fee if s/he is not guilty, doesn't s/he? The worst thing is, that when we tried to appeal to the headquarters company in the US, they didn't intervene but just concluded, that the "Local office you rented the car claims that it's your fault'. That's it. They charge the credit card and no way that they find you 'clear off'. This is a way to force a customer to pay 'full coverage' just in case. It's a trick. Be careful!
Terrible, hidden additional fees, agents make decisions to add LDW on their own. The worst experiance I've had with the rental company
Answer: Unfortunately scam is a kind of normal for hertz.com
Answer: ENTERPRISE! Go there, they have way better rates and won't screw you over.
