I booked for one person on 3 March 2023 at Nelson Mandela Boulevard Hotel. This company misleads you by making you think you are booking direct. They use https://gardennelsonmandela.guestreservations.com and it is fake – this site does not belong to the hotel.
They quoted me R1436 – about US$78,96
They took from my card R2326,39 – about US$124,84
At the Hotel the booking was done by Booking.com and the amount was R1664,35 – about US$91,45
This amount included Booking.com commission.
The bottom line is: Don't do business with Booking.com because they sell these rooms to these fraudsters.
Be seriously careful. Sadly the Hotel just say this is a third party booking – they do not take any responsibility for this hugely overcharged situation. They did promise they will address this with Booking.com – their partner, but I have not received this feedback – apparently battling to get hold of Booking.com.
Do not be fooled in to using this company. This is a third-party, sadly legal, con-trick. They will take your money, add a huge fee, and then claim that your reservation is neither changeable or reimbursable when, in fact, they made it on Booking.com and it is completely reimbursable. Use legitimate websites or the hotel directly.
Hi Steve, Guest ReservationsTM is an independent travel network, offering reservations and exclusive deals for more than 100,000 hotels throughout the world. We understand that you were surprised to learn that Guest Reservations is not affiliated with the hotel where you made your reservation. We are sorry to learn of this misunderstanding. Guest Reservations tries to be as transparent as possible in disclosing that it is an independent travel network, which is not affiliated with any hotel. We would like to contact you directly to help with your concerns. To keep your information secure, please send us a message with your reservation # and email address used at purchase and we will respond with next steps. Thank you.
AWFUL WEBSITE. Thought that it was the actual hotel's website because they made it seem like it was. Added a crap ton of money after I paid for my reservation. THEY STOLE MY MONEY by making me think it was Hilton's actual website. Made me pay $400 bucks more. And now I can't even get a refund. Hate this!

This is a scam website. I booked a hotel for two days and they showed the price for one day only. The price was fake. After I completed the payment I noticed that they charged double plus 106USS as service.
I still do not understand why nobody stop these people.

Hi Cornel, we are sorry you had this experience. Just like when you book through a hotel directly, Guest Reservations must charge its customers for all applicable taxes, including any hotel taxes. Additionally, by charging a service fee for all of its reservations, we are able to offer 24/7 customer support and operate as an independent travel network. Guest Reservations conspicuously discloses all fees and taxes on its checkout summary webpage, asking customers to check a box acknowledging these before they enter their payment information. Despite our transparency, we remain concerned about your experience. Please provide us your reservation # and the email address used at purchase and we will respond with the next steps. Thank you.
While traveling, I was trying to make a Hampton Inn reservation on my phone. I wanted a phone number, rather than try to fill in a reservation on my phone while riding in the car. I called, what purported to be Hilton. I had some trouble understanding the reservation clerk due to her accent, but clearly heard her respond at least twice with "yes" when I asked if this was the Hilton number and if she had my Hilton rewards number. She said that they were contracted by the hotel to take reservations. I later learned this was a lie. I should have hung up, but we were exhausted from driving and anxious to get a hotel room. When I got the email receipt there was a charge of $61.72 for "Tax Recovery & SERVICE FEES). The front desk clerk at the Hampton Inn & Suites, Vandallia, Ohio, was most helpful in verifying that the number I'd called was NOT that hotel or the general Hilton number and that many people have been taken advantage of by this company. I now have the Hilton App on my phone and will reserve through that.

I started booking a room through this website and when it came to finalize the reservation i noticed that the fees were high, so I didn't finish the reservation. Next thing I know Im getting an email that said I had a reservation, so I immediately cancelled it only to find out it had already been charged to my card. I called customer service and was told that the charge would stand because they dont give refunds per their cancellation policy. I didnt authorize the charge but they are keeping my money anyways! This is fraud. Dont use this website ever!

It was not clear to me this was NOT the website of the hotel itself. It was also not mentioned that my booking was non-refundable on that website. After a (very expensive) call, they still couldn't help me.
Apparently, they like taking my money and doing nothing in return.
All the good reviews I read here are about hotels, not about guest reservations themselves.

The cancelation policy ends one day before the booking, so good luck modifying or canceling your booking even 1 second after the reservation.

Be very careful reading the fine print. Even if you are a month out, you can not even modify your trip much less receive a refund ( I even asked for a refund minus fees, they still said no). Very poor company to do business with that is out to add fees, get their money, then be of absolutely no help. Stay away. I've never been to a place where I couldn't even make a slight modificatin, much less a refund when I'm still a month out. You will lose money dealing with this company, they do not accomodate at all. I am a straight forward guy and understand there might have been a fee to change or cancel, but I'm 3 weeks out from check in date right now. There's no reason besides unwillingness to help and greed that behind this company. Please help if you can. I'll be glad to take this review down if the company reaches out to me or refunds my money. I've been on hold waiting to speak to a "manager" for over 29 minutes now as I'm writing this review.

Booked a room and within 30 mins afterwards my flight was cancelled. It was 10am on the day of the reservation and these thieves will not cancell and give me a refund.

Cuidado con esta estafa. Camuflan la página original del hotel para que hagas la reservación en su sitio. Hasta el momento del pago se muestran los cargos excesivos que realizan simulando que son "impuestos" y uno termina pagando el doble de lo que realmente es.
Beware of this scam. They camouflage the original page of the hotel so that you make the reservation on their site. Until the moment of payment, the excessive charges that they make are shown, pretending that they are "taxes" and you will end up paying the double amount of what it really is.

The website impersonates hotel website, add substantial surcharge. We cancellation few minutes after booking and realizing that the website doesn't belong to the hotel, but they wouldn't refund. We asked to reinstate the reservation since we were not getting refund and they wouldn't do it either. Horrible customer service. Its impossible to speak to a manager to escalate. Avoid this website. Big scam!

I did the booking and they deduct 982 USD from my account and I had to cancel the booking 1 hour after booking based on what they said that it's free cancellation but they didn't return any money

Acts legitimate, then charges 40 percent more. I tried to cancel within a minute, and couldn't! I thought I was on the hotel official site.

Very deceptive and not at all reputable. Unreasonable charges in their taxes. They absolutely appear to look like you are booking with the hotel.

A total scam! It looks like you are dealing with the actual hotel's reservation desk but inly when you get your confirmation and realize it is $130 more than the room rate do you realize you've been had. I have filed a complaint with the attorney general's office in the state I booked in. A truly terrible business.

They sucked us in with low rates then charged an exorbitant amount of fees. (Room was $195 per night, charges were $108 plus a hidden resort fee of $13.43 per night.) The hotel policy is no charge for cancellation with 24 hours notice, however, Guest Reservations confirmation email states that there are no refunds. Upon calling the hotel, they assured me that they have no problem canceling for zero fee, but the third party would have to refund our credit card. I called Guest Reservation multiple times before finding the magic words/prompt to be connected to a representative. I was put on hold for 40 minutes while they "verified" with the hotel before they disconnected me. The second rep was very rude and said they could cancel then get verification, but could not guarantee our refund. So. We potentially lose our reservation AND over $300?

Accidentally clicked on their link thinking I was booking directly with Holiday Inn Express. It was an ad link. Charged $105 more than the reservation rate had I called or used the actual holiday inn website or called. They put the charges on my CC referencing a hotel in another state to add to the CC confusion. DO NOT use this SCAM Company.
Now they add that they are sorry in the comments below and ask for my contact info because they "will help with my concerns." What help are you willing to provide now that you have scammed my money? It is impossible to reach them as their phone service is autobotted to frustrate you and refer you to call the hotel where the reservation was made. You will never reach a live person. Good luck. STAY AWAY!

They create a website that looks wildly similar to the real hotel's website and web address (scamming you into thinking you're at the actual hotel website). They then smuggle on charges at the end. They are actively trying to TRICK people, which is so unethical.

Literally the worst company I have ever dealt with! We made a reservation through their website and after clicking the reserve room button, the dates changed from the requested dates to today's date. We noticed and cancelled the reservation and were charged the full amount as a cancellation fee. I phoned their customer support and got absolutely nowhere. They said that, as per the hotels policy, they couldn't offer a refund. I then rang the hotel and they said that they would happily issue a refund, so it was up to Guest Reservations. They just kept on reading the same refund policy statement and wouldn't listen to what I was saying. I was eventually offered a £6.88 refund, which was ridiculous. I am currently (still) waiting for the line manager to call me back. Avoid at all costs!
Update*-as you will see, they reach out and ask you to send them a message to get it sorted so it looks like they care. They don't reply to the message and just make it look like you might be listened to or get a refund, fraudulent scammers
