I purchased my first discount this morning. Tonight my credit card was charged for ten -- 10! -- ADDITIONAL charges in various amounts. I looked at my Groupon account and discovered that gifts were sent to TEN people that I've never heard of. THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM; RIP OFF; FRAUD. I immediately sent an email but haven't had any reply; not even an automatic "be back with you later" response. I telephoned the number listed on the website under the contact information. I got a typical "thanks for calling" but "we're closed" recording. I left a message for them to call and described my complaint. I do not expect to hear from anyone. What worries me the most now is that these jerks have my financial information.
I didn't realize that business owners got 50% taken off their profit. No wonder they tried to make it up out of me by changing terms, removing previous discounts/internet deal that had nothing to do with groupon. I ended up paying more than what groupon deal promised, got myself locked into a deal where the business owner and I no longer see eye to eye because we fought over terms being changed. At the end, business owners lose in all counts because customers like me (who got harrassed and pushed by business owners who try to recover profit) will not come back after the committment period. All the negativity generated from these initial transactions will come back to haunt business owners. RECOMMENDATION: don't use groupon. Bad deal at the end.
HORRIBLE customer service. Takes them forever to respond to your customer service questions. Also takes them too long to ship out the item & when the day comes when they should ship it... you get notified that the item is out of stock! WTF?!?! I cancelled my order before it got shipped out. I will never deal with them again.
I was on ideeli for a long time but never really bought anything from them until this month. They had some great lingerie deals so I bought 5 sets of lingerie for my upcoming honeymoon. Then they also had a JS Boutique and Majorica pearl jewelry deals the next day so I bought a necklace and a dress. I also placed an order for Jarden necklace and earrings the next day. Yes, I went crazy for three days straight. AND THEN I read the reviews on sitejabber and FREAKED OUT. I was so paranoid that my order would get messed up (I'm not a risk taker), so I tried to cancel my orders but the first two were too late to cancel since it's been a few days already so I just cancelled the Jarden jewelry order.
I got my lingerie sets and my Majorica necklace in the mail yesterday and was totally psyched! I immediately checked if all the bras and panties were correct size as I've read how they mess up sizes and all 11 pieces were in correct sizes! The pearl necklace was also very lovely. I haven't gotten the dress yet but I'm not worried anymore as my other stuff came in just right. Yes, it takes longer than other online shopping centers. Mine took about 2 weeks from the day of order. But it's understandable as they deal directly with the merchants to lower costs, so they themselves are awaiting for the merchants to ship the items to their warehouse. Hautelook is also like that, I ordered two watches and it took less time than ideeli but still like 10 days of waiting was required. But I got the watches in the mail yesterday too and was SO happy! Both websites clearly say when the expected shipment will be, so you should know before you order that it'd take a while to receive the item. Ideeli also included UPS return label stickers in the box (I guess they heard too many complaints and fixed the issue). I'm now regretting that I had cancelled the Jarden jewelry order. Oh well.
Signed up not long ago, when refered by my daughter. Just used it for the first time. It's great! I have future vacation locations added so I can get deals to use later!
It's fun to see what is offered each day, although it may not be anything I want, but every so often I get a great deal.
Also, I had a little trouble and they got back to me quickly with an answer! Worth a look.
I have bought fabulous designer items on this site such as a Pucci bag for $99.
I couldn't touch these items for less than $400 in the stores. Shipping can take a long time but it is worth the wait!
Hi Polly: Congratulations on the bag! Thanks so much for the support, and being an ideeli member.

Get this... The website has some of the coolest stuff BUT the have "expected delivery dates" When I first signed up I was like "ok, I am cool with that" What they do not tell you is that they would be two days late when shipping your order.
BUT HERE IS WHERE IT GETS GOOD... If you placed an order of two or more items, they will ship them separately! You would get one of the items of your order, if lucky, on time but they would ship each other item days, sometimes weeks from the "expected delivery date." I am so fed up!
Just do not order any fragile stuff. I order 4 sets of dishes. I got the box and everything WAS BROKEN IN IT! But it is ok, right? Stuff like this happens every time you order fragile stuff. WRONG! I opened the box and they package the dishes in a box with no protection what so ever. No bubble wrap, no tissue paper. HECK! I would have been OK with newspaper. But no. They just dunked in a box and shipped away... No care in the world. Who in the world ships like that?
I would have been like "ok, its broken. Happens. I will let them know and they will reimburse me or replace the items." But what ticked me off was that they did not wrapped it for protection. I mean, I am a customer, I am paying for this stuff... Give me a break.
Groupon is awesome, at least in the Boston area, especially for gifts. They do 1 day sales for services and restaurants, like $20 for $50 gift certificates, or half off helicopter training school. They recently did a 3-month gym pass to a ritzy upscale gym for $27 that would've cost at least $350 otherwise! They typically only offer one sale each day, and a new one each day, so I find myself checking in often to make sure I don't miss anything :) Just make sure you ALWAYS read the fine print before buying! There are always restrictions! Such as, must be redeemed by June 1st, or only valid for 1st time customers, and they don't waiver on these restrictions so be prepared!
Discount sites like Groupon are sure to fail because their model preys on desperate businesses. They may be profitable, but it simply isn't sustainable. They persuade desperate businesses to offer steep discounts, and then take half the face value of any coupons sold. The business is left with a loss, and Groupon profits by doing nothing more than taking advantage of one's desperation. These leeches can't fail soon enough for me.
I have been ordering from Ideeli for the past 6 months. The products are genuine. The customer service is great. I have only returned one item and the return process was very easy.
Hi JP: We’re so glad to hear about your positive experiences. Thanks so much for the support, and being an ideeli member.

This is the worst shopping experience ever! I finally got the things I ordered, but I can't tell what size they are vs what I ordered (NO info on the packing slip, except the quantity and item description). They are two of the UGLIEST things I've ever seen (definitely not as described/pictured) and now, apparently, I am only allowed TO RETURN FOR STORE CREDIT ONLY. Who has that barberic shopping rule anymore? And why didn't I see that on the website, because I sure wouldn't have made the purchases in the first place!
This is an ingenius idea. I am a marketing sales rep (not for groupon) and I have seen and heard most everything, and so have business owners. Groupon has taken permission based advertising to the next level. The potential customer has asked to see the deal of the day through their email inbox and make a purchase if they so choose. The business receives the money upfront and the customer can use the groupon whenever they decide too, before the expiration date. From an advertising stand point this is a WIN WIN.
I had a really good experience with them. The product (a pair of däv rain boots) was shipped within the estimated time frame on the listing. It does take a bit from the time you order, but that's why they say on the listing itself the estimated ship date. The boots fit the description from the site and are of good quality. I had no problems dealing with customer service, but then again I had a good experience.
Hi Sarah, thanks for the comment. We are glad to hear you had an enjoyable experience, and hope the boots are still a highlight on every rainy day.

I order often from the many sample sale websites and ideeli is in my top four favorites catergory. Yes, their shipping is slow. I think they wait for items to be shipped from manufacturers to their warehouse or something like that before shipping to the customer... the refund process is even slower. That said, I have gotten some wonderful clothing from them at fantastic prices. I never order anything that I need in a hurry. I have never needed to call customer service so I can't speak about that. A refund did take almost 3 weeks while Ruelala.com's refund was almost instantaneous, They definitely could use improvement but I haven't given up on them yet. For me the positive outweighs the negative.
Hi Cindy: We thank your patience, and for understanding the process. Please reach out to us with any questions you have on future purchases, and thanks again for sharing in the shopping experience:)

Here is their customer service number *******719 which I had to get from my bank since Ideeli wouldn't respond to my emails. I also wrote a complaint to the BBB.
Absolutely horrible! I will never shop again on this site. I shop mostly on internet, and this site is the worst I've bought from. Bought two dresses, both were eligible for return for 14 days since the day they were shipped. Dresses were shipped on the 17th of february, I got them on the 22nd. When I tried to initiate a return it said that the dresses were no longer eligible for that! I don't believe there are 14 days between 17th and the 22nd of february! Wrote number of emails, and NO response!
On another occasion, I've ordered a cardigan, and they sent me a sweater instead! When I contacted customer service via email I got no response again. Today I ordered shoes, when I went to pay for them, suddenly my shopping cart became empty, and now it shows that they all reserved. How is it possible?! I will never shop again on this site, and would never again recommend it to anybody. What a shame.
Hi Olia: I am sorry to hear about your experience, and we have since fixed the tech glitch that caused the malfunction. We hope that your recent ideeli experiences have been more positive, and we welcome any feedback. Thanks!

I am not surprised to see all these bad reviews about Ideeli. The item I ordered was not only shipped days (I am not talking about a few days!) after the expected shipping date but something happened in transit and I didn't receive anything 10 days after the item was shipped. Wondering what was going on, I contacted customer service - a few days later, they got back to me saying "the item was shipped on (the original shipping date)"... DUH! (and no apologies or no explanation about why I still haven't received my item) I concluded it was useless to contact Ideeli again so I contacted the carrier instead. Within a few hours, I received a call back from the carrier. Apparently the package was missing the address lable that the carrier needed to contact Ideeli and get information to complete the delivery. Hearing this, I immediately contacted Ideeli asking for a refund because the item was arriving just about a month after it was supposed to and if I knew it would take that long, I wouldn't have ordered it in the first place. All Ideeli offered me was a store credit (like I am gonna deal with these people ever again!) when they are clearly at fault shipping the package without a label...
Hi Irene, I want to personally apologize for your experience. We would be happy to take a look into a refund if you reach out to us at [email protected].

Do not buy from. One of the worst companys ever. I placed an order over a month ago and still don't know what is going on with it. I sent 2 emails to customer service with no response. HORRIBLE!
I bought a bag from them - i won't say which, but it turned out to be fake! I don't want to get myself in trouble, but i don't trust this site - even if they are well known. Not a good apple.
Hi Audrey: I am so sorry about the bag, but I want to assure you that every item we offer is of the highest quality and authenticity directly from the manufacturer. Please reach out to us directly at [email protected] if you have any concerns about our sale items. I want to thank you for reaching out, it is sincerely appreciated.

For the most part, groupon is a good concept run by greedy people. What does that mean for the business it advertises? Not so good. For instance, what consumers don't know is that groupon group takes 50% of the price of the groupon and gives 50% back to the advertiser. This means, the advertiser gets 25% of the groupon amount. Groupon gets the same amount for simply posting it on their site. Can someone say, unbalanced and unfair? I would recommend groupon to businesses that don't take too much of a hit to advertise with them as it is a very expensive form of advertising.
Answer: Yes, Groupon is legit. You need to read the fine print before ordering live event tickets- -they will not refund your money even if it's there fault. I only buy tickets for activities that don't expire or you can use the purchase price towards a non-Groupon service the vendor offers. Hope this helps.
Answer: Yes, report it but using social media is a very effective way to get a companies attention. Spread the word, Groupon does not honor returns!
Answer: I usually call the merchants I am interested in before buying the coupons, and ask them if the groupon coupons work, and how much more I have to pay. You could do the same, contact the merchants you are interested in and ask them how groupon works for them?
Answer: Groupon usually sends a tracking # via email If not do as the other people suggested, check My Groupons
Answer: I wish I could say why, but a solution might be to contact Call Curtis, or your local News station that helps with consumer issues. They always seem to get fast resolutions, because companies hate BAD TV PUBLICITY.
Answer: I personally do not trust groupon. The question previous to yours printed on this site should answer your question as to its reliaiblity
Answer: The one I took by Holly and Hugo at least were I would research the company before buying. Also about twice a year they put all their courses for $5! I got mine completed it and it helped boost my resume and I was able to get a vet assistant job pretty quickly compared to before where I only got a call back from about one place which didn't lead anywhere. :) hope I could help!
Answer: Well, it's not Ideeli anymore... it's been Ideel for about a year now I think. Yes, there is a customer support phone number. I've had nothing but good experiences from Ideel in all regards - product satisfaction, price, shipping, etc. - but I've never had to contact customer service so I don't know what you'll get, but they're phone number is (888) 835-1719.
Answer: They are the absolute worst about answering customer service complaints. They will lie, they literally told me customer service reps were out sick, thus no answer to my emails for about 2 weeks. But, don't loose hope, the DAY I posted a review on this site, they answered AND gave me a 25.00 credit for my trouble. So write a review on Site Jabber with all the details and a bet a manager will answer promptly. As this is their way, I NEVER ordered from the site again after at least 3 years of orders. Good Luck and don't leave a sordid detail out of your complaint.
Groupon is the largest "daily deal" site, selling vouchers for discounted local experiences and services such as restaurants and spas, as well as travel packages, shopping, and a number of other items. Vouchers are purchased upfront and typically must be redeemed by a certain date, after which time Groupons expire. To businesses Groupon markets itself as a way to drive new customers. Groupon is a public company (NASDAQ: GRPN) and is based in Chicago, IL.
