I still have to mention one thing: When I booked it said that the car would have a full tank of petrol. But it wasn't. You have to return the car with the same tank level. But not everyone can judge that well at the petrol pump.
Nevertheless, I can definitely recommend GreenMotion. The car was clean and the service was good.

Hiring a car from Greenmotion was a reasonable price and the procedure for pick up and drop off was efficient and quick. The free bus service from the airport was very good. We got the keys quickly despite arriving earlier than expected. We weren't pressured into taking out additional insurance although it was offered.

When receiving the car at the Newcastle upon Tyne branch. I was informed I would have to pay a £400 refundable deposit upon the return of the vehicle in good order. Upon return the paperwork was signed to say it was in good order. It has been over a month now and I was been in touch a couple of times with customer service to get the deposit paid back. This is unacceptable.

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges.
Please visit https://greenmotion.com/terms and select the country you rented from to see the deposit information which will advise the general timeframe that you can expect for the release of the deposit.
Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you.
Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you.

Avoid this little companys at all cost, went you get there they hit you with hidden fees after hidden fee like the second charge for the insurance,toll fee, 150dls deposit they said they would give it back in couple days it took them like 7 days to get the deposit back

***GREENMOTION CAR HIRE - CITY AIRPORT***DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES HIRE A CAR FROM THIS BUNCH OF THIEVES! They have charged me £68 for a £2.50 oversight on the Dartford crossing. Yes, it's in the contract and it's called an "Admin Fee" but it's just a way for them to make money out of you in other ways. I paid £68 for an email as I paid the late payment of £2.50 direct. I WAS a loyal customer of this bunch of crooks, using their cars numerous times but for the sake of £68 they have lost my custom permanently!
WARNING! THEY PUT A CHARGE ON YOUR CREDIT CARD FOR A DEPOSIT OF £1200 MINIMUM SO THAT THEY CAN TAKE MONEY WHEN THEY LIKE AND THEY DON'T TAKE IT OFF AFTERWARDS LIKE THEY PROMISE, SO MAKE SURE YOU GET IT TAKEN OFF BY YOUR BANK. BECAUSE OF THIS AND THE INEPTITUDE OF MY BANK " NATIONWIDE" NOT BLOCKING THIS CHARGE, DESPITE MY REQUEST, I HAVE HAD TO SHUT DOWN MY CREDIT CARD AND I AM LEAVING NATIONWIDE TOO.

There seems to be an issue with the quoted rates on the website. Changing my booking from 14 to 15 days increased the price by over 60% so i booked 14 days

Answer: DON'T do it. They advertise low and sting you at the counter! Clerks hard sell additional insurance (they get a commission). In Glasgow, Scotland this last August, they tried to get me to pay $800 in insurance to cover a ten day rental that was about $35 a day! Many people have posted about scams where they charged unsuspecting customers for "damages" that were already on the car but the customer may not notice, like a tiny chip in the windshield or a small scratch on the door edge.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
