Picking our hire car up at Zakynthos airport, I had made a mistake while booking online earlier. The lovely reception woman sorted it all out and we were soon on our way on our holiday.

Staff at Paisley were very professional when dealing with my creditcard issue. My credirt carde was declined causing me a three hour delay to my journey. The staff offered me the use of wifi and kept me warm whilst I wrangled with Barclaycard to discover what had gone wrong and resolved the problem. Only significant criticism was that the bus that collected form the airport could have easily given customer a ride to the local railway station.

Great service with friendly staff. Really easy to access from the airport with a shuttle provided that takes about 3 minutes.
Do I rent a car, or take the metro and get an Uber? Rent a car because I need to get around once I'm there. There's a hybrid available, so just like our car at home, and the outlet picks you up and drops you back at the airport -perfect!

Took about 25 minutes to go through the paperwork and to pick up the car. Any dents or scratches were pointed out to me. The car was good, drove well, although the interior was a little worn. Perfectly acceptable though. The hand over procedure could not have been simpler. Dropped off the car and after a quick inspection I was advised that the handover was complete. No fuss.

It took half an hour to get picked up by the courtesy bus at the airport, but the driver and the staff on the desk were very friendly. The car was okay apart from a broken headlight bulb. Drop off was very efficient, only 10 minutes from arriving at the office to being in the courtesy bus back to the airport.

Answer: DON'T do it. They advertise low and sting you at the counter! Clerks hard sell additional insurance (they get a commission). In Glasgow, Scotland this last August, they tried to get me to pay $800 in insurance to cover a ten day rental that was about $35 a day! Many people have posted about scams where they charged unsuspecting customers for "damages" that were already on the car but the customer may not notice, like a tiny chip in the windshield or a small scratch on the door edge.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at [email protected]. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
