An insurance scam! Additional charge of over €200, even though in France we don't have credit cards but debit cards. This seems to be the company's usual practice, given what we've seen since.

Prices are good and very friendly and helpful staff. Birmingham airport location very easy and Manchester airport shuttle regular and close to the airport. Only one criticism: Both times I rented, there wasn't enough fuel to get to my destination ( well under 1/4 tank) which ment refuel

Good price wile looking for a rental. Easy to deal with at the rental place. A hassle to force their insurance on you. A surprise surcharge for a toll even if a cash lane was used.
The car model I was given was the Dodge Charger. It's a great car, but not very comfortable for a woman to drive. The gas pedal and brake pedal (especially) are too high. Unless you're driving in high-heeled shoes, your feet wouldn't even touch the ground. It was quite uncomfortable. But the condition of the car was good. Another thing for visitors to bear in mind when choosing this company is that they only accept a few American insurances. And the price of insurance will be as high as the price you pay for a week's car rental.
Another thing to consider: a SanPass transponder on the car. I said NO when at the rental place they ask me if I need one. I took a cash lane to exit a paying freeway and still received a bill because my car's transponder remained active.

I was so glad I picked Green Motion for my car hire while going to Edinburgh in Scotland in March 25.

We've used GreenMotion for quite some time now without issues but this time it wasn't a great start. The bus was an hour before picking us up due to issues. They didn't have an SUV which we ordered and when we got a pickup truck it wasn't ready for use. We complained (quite rightly) but they resolved the issue with an upgrade to a luxury SUV. Lots of apologies too. Would we use them again? Yes, of course! Issues happen but how they are resolved is what really counts.

The rental was very easy. The folks in the Lafayette office were great. I felt it was a reasonable price for a great rental. As long as the rental cost is reasonable I will certainly keep renting from Green Motion.

Answer: DON'T do it. They advertise low and sting you at the counter! Clerks hard sell additional insurance (they get a commission). In Glasgow, Scotland this last August, they tried to get me to pay $800 in insurance to cover a ten day rental that was about $35 a day! Many people have posted about scams where they charged unsuspecting customers for "damages" that were already on the car but the customer may not notice, like a tiny chip in the windshield or a small scratch on the door edge.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at [email protected]. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
