I rented a 12 seater van for 11 days, payed in advance and when I was signing the papers at the car pick up I was informed there was the extra 70,00/ day insurance cost + 15,00/day for the tolls. I tried using my credit cards´car insurance benefit but they didn´t accept it so I had to pay for it. I refused to pay for the toll and was informed that the cars were all plate registered at the tolls and if I did go through one I would be fined. Regardless of this, I didnt accept this abusive cost. It was all very upseting and not described anywhere on the voucher I received. Very bad first experience with this company and would NOT recommend it.

We had a good experience with Green Motion. Calling the shuttle was easy, and the driver was very friendly. The only issue was that there was no bathroom available at Green Motion - tricky when travelling with a kid. But the staff were helpful and efficient, and the car was fine. We would use them again.

The staff were very helpful especially as my German is poor. The car was a good size bur it was damaged when I picked it up and the clutch was very hard work. It did not help that I usually drive an automatic. The car return was very straightforward the staff were o hand immediately.

Answer: DON'T do it. They advertise low and sting you at the counter! Clerks hard sell additional insurance (they get a commission). In Glasgow, Scotland this last August, they tried to get me to pay $800 in insurance to cover a ten day rental that was about $35 a day! Many people have posted about scams where they charged unsuspecting customers for "damages" that were already on the car but the customer may not notice, like a tiny chip in the windshield or a small scratch on the door edge.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at [email protected]. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
